CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6) "prodigy" is decent, but there is no reason for it to be nearly five minutes long, esp with that netflix original trailer music type beat. as for "floating on a moment", this is absolutely beautiful. glad to have her back!!
Flo Milli f/ SZA & Cardi B - "Never Lose Me" (Shooter, #1) vs Yumi Zouma - "KPR" (walt91, #6) the beat on "never lose me" is really good and flo milli does a good job, but the guest features from sza and cardi b are pretty disappointing and actually detract from the song i think. "kpr" is solid enough indie pop and was a really pleasant listen, but idk if i can really say much else about it either good or bad. sounds like smth that would be in my discover weekly.
Megan Moroney - "No Caller ID" (indulgecountry, #1) vs Glorb - "The Bottom 2" (wheatsquares33, #6) "no caller id" is a cute enough song and all, but "the bottom 2" is a masterpiece beyond human comprehension.
The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) vs Kylie Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6) "i think about you all the time" is a really fun little slice of power pop that hits all the right spots! "happy ever after me" is fine, but i think the lyrics could've hit a bit harder and the "i hope you ain't happy ever after me" line in the chorus could've used a much sharper delivery. it feels like a love-tap instead of the proper sting i think she was aiming it to be. and i don't really like morgan's vocal delivery in some parts.
Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6) i'm sorry, but "hurt my feelings" is probably the first song in this tournament that i think is genuinely terrible so far. "head underwater" wins by default for me. helps that its also a really good song.
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6) sooooooo "predictable shame" is a song that i like a lot for very personal reasons that i won't go into here but honestly it and "gaburger" as a whole have just been a fucking VIBE to me for the past year or so likeeeee. its wild how relatable a lot of the lyrics are to my personal situation lmfao. "lego ring" is fine, more coherent than i was expecting given that lil yachty and faye webster make completely different music from one another normally, but it didn't stick out to me very much and was kind of boring.
St. Vincent - "Flea" (Zach, #1) vs Kali Uchis - "Young Rich & In Love" (Shooter, #6) "flea" while not as good as "broken man" imo, is a really really strong showing from st. vincent and makes me super excited for her upcoming album if this is the sound she's going for. "young, rich & in love" meanwhile is alright. the production is pleasant, but aside from that, the song doesn't really do much for me and isn't nearly as strong as any of the tracks i've heard from kali uchis for 2023 rym.

The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) vs Kylie Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6) "i think about you all the time" was actually pretty good, maybe 4th best song on the list, but the matchup was unfortunate.
Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6) Tate McRae is quite consistent, and this was no exception. Corella's song was not bad as well.
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6) Predictable Shame was decent, but the single cover was gross.

2 of my picks in prelim. I have to laugh.
Favorite Discovery: Head Underwater. Jakob Dylan vibes are present with the lead singer and I loved the crunch of the hook.

CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) [64] vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6) [84] -"Prodigy" had potential (EDIT: no pun intended); it's thematically similar to Little Simz' music. But it overstays its welcome, and I wasn't a huge fan of the instrumental. "Floating on a Moment" is on my chart currently. Great song that manages to sound urgent and relaxing at the same time; a more nuanced take on the cliché "live in the moment."
Flo Milli f/ SZA & Cardi B - "Never Lose Me" (Shooter, #1) [58] vs Yumi Zouma - "KPR" (walt91, #6) [64]
Megan Moroney - "No Caller ID" (indulgecountry, #1) [61] vs Glorb - "The Bottom 2" (wheatsquares33, #6) [70] -I'm normally a meme/novelty rap skeptic, but "The Bottom 2" does what it sets out to do pretty well. It's entertaining, and the music itself is surprisingly strong too. However, I'm not enthused about the glut of less inspired, less original AI character rap songs that will inevitably follow in its wake.
The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) [66] vs Kylie Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6) [60]
Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) [62] vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6) [76]
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) [57] vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6) [66]

CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6) "Prodigy" is probably my favorite discovery so far. I really liked this!

CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) (light to decent 8) vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6) (decent to strong 7) Prodigy is very cool! Only other Chika song I know is U Should, which I love but is very different from this one. Didn't expect this to sound the way it does, but it's dope. I like Floating on a Moment enough, but it hasn't really like blown me away either time I've listened to it (I did like it more relistening to it here though). Giving it to Chika, FOAM may grow on me though.
Flo Milli f/ SZA & Cardi B - "Never Lose Me" (Shooter, #1) (light to decent 7) vs Yumi Zouma - "KPR" (walt91, #6) (decent to strong 8) Oh hey Flo Milli is from Mobile :0 So much talent coming out of my hometown lately. I like Flo Milli, need to listen to her new album. This is a good song, a bit poppier than I expected but not in a bad way. Unfortunately, KPR was another one on my short list that didn't quite make my top 12 submissions--love this song.
Megan Moroney - "No Caller ID" (indulgecountry, #1) (descent to strong 6) vs Glorb - "The Bottom 2" (wheatsquares33, #6) (light to decent 9) No Caller ID is nice. Not gonna vote against myself though. On paper "Spongebob parody rap song" doesn't sound very up my alley, and yet Kash Krabs and Glorb both had some of my fav songs of 2023
The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) (light to decent 7) vs Kylie Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6)(light to decent 6) The Maine are kinda hit or miss for me, but this was definitely more of a hit from them. It's good. The Kylie Morgan song is kinda nice too.
Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) (decent to strong 6) vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6) (decent to strong 7) Well, I'm glad that every Tate McRae song I've heard since You Broke Me First has been better than You Broke Me First. This isn't the best I've heard from her, but I think she's generally pretty ok. Really liked this Corella song.
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) (light to decent 6) vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6) (decent to strong 6) Hrm relistening to it here, idk how I feel about Lego Ring. It's no Car Therapy or But Not Kiss. Interesting collab, I think Yachty fits the vibe of the track weirdly well, just feels kinda unfocused? Cool ideas, but none really stick for me. Predictable Shame sounds about like what I'd expect it to sound based on what I've heard from GG.
St. Vincent - "Flea" (Zach, #1) (light to decent 7) vs Kali Uchis - "Young Rich & In Love" (Shooter, #6) (light to decent 7) I like Broken Man more than Flea, but both tracks have me pretty excited for the new St. Vincent album. Young Rich & In Love is very pretty. I don't consistently love everything from Kali, but this is very nice. It's a close match.
Best discoveries: Prodigy, Head Underwater, Flea, i think about you all the time, Never Lose

CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6) I think both of this songs were cool but none of them fully clic on me as I wished.
Flo Milli f/ SZA & Cardi B - "Never Lose Me" (Shooter, #1) vs Yumi Zouma - "KPR" (walt91, #6) Honestly I think I prefer the OG "Never Lose Me" and I would've voted for that if it was on this match-up, SZA's part were decent but I felt like Cardi B dragged this down.
Megan Moroney - "No Caller ID" (indulgecountry, #1) vs Glorb - "The Bottom 2" (wheatsquares33, #6) "No Caller ID" was really cute. "The Bottom 2" is... not my style, let's leave it like that.
The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) vs Kylie Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6) "I think about you all the time" was really fun", while "Happy Ever After Me" was also cute, but Kylie's chorus was a little underwhelming.
Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6) This match-up could go in any way tbh
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6) "Lego Ring" sounds like the type of song I usually get to like but for some reason this time didn't clic, I do hope it somehow clics if it survives. "Predictable Shame" wasn't also my thing.
St. Vincent - "Flea" (Zach, #1) vs Kali Uchis - "Young Rich & In Love" (Shooter, #6) I have "Broken Man" in my currents playlist but It hasn't clic on me yet, I liked this more. But, Kali delivered such a good album and this song is a jam.

The first and last matchups were the hardest of today's set, in my opinion.
CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6) Flo Milli f/ SZA & Cardi B - "Never Lose Me" (Shooter, #1) vs Yumi Zouma - "KPR" (walt91, #6) Megan Moroney - "No Caller ID" (indulgecountry, #1) vs Glorb - "The Bottom 2" (wheatsquares33, #6)The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) vs Kylie Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6) Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6)"Head Underwater" is one of my favorite discoveries of MM so far, while "hurt my feelings" may be the weakest Tate McRae song I listened in years.
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6) St. Vincent - "Flea" (Zach, #1) vs Kali Uchis - "Young Rich & In Love" (Shooter, #6)

CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6)
Prodigy held my attention from start to finish. The production reminds me of a song that someone should have sent (Mindful Solutionism). While this matchup is somewhat close for me, I actually have similar thoughts to wheatsquares33 on Floating on a Moment.
Flo Milli f/ SZA & Cardi B - "Never Lose Me" (Shooter, #1) vs Yumi Zouma - "KPR" (walt91, #6)
TikTok Radio vs SiriusXMU. The beat on Never Lose Me is very nice but I'm not fully invested in the rapping. I am feeling the singing and melody in KPR more.
Megan Moroney - "No Caller ID" (indulgecountry, #1) vs Glorb - "The Bottom 2" (wheatsquares33, #6)
No Caller ID is not bad for a country hit, but it doesn't come close to the thrill I got from the SpongeBob rap BANGER.
The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) vs Kylie Minogue Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6)
I find this Maine song more enjoyable than the one from Wintertime Madness Seed 2. I am indifferent towards Happy Ever After Me.
Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6)
Unlike Tate McRae's hit song greedy, I didn't find anything I particularly liked about hurt my feelings. Head Underwater is another good indie rock pick.
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6)
I am confused by this duet song. I can enjoy it but not to the same extent as But Not Kiss or Lifetime. Predictable Shame is noisy fun and that album cover looks tasty.
St. Vincent - "Flea" (Zach, #1) vs Kali Uchis - "Young Rich & In Love" (Shooter, #6)
This is a close call for me as I find both of these quite enjoyable. For now, I am leaning towards Kali's bilingual song more although Flea should hold up on more repeated listens.

CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6)
I like "Prodigy"; I think the production is pretty interesting. But I think it goes on a minute longer than necessary. I love Portishead, so it's not a surprise I love "Floating on a Moment". I might need to check out her upcoming album in May.
Flo Milli f/ SZA & Cardi B - "Never Lose Me" (Shooter, #1) vs Yumi Zouma - "KPR" (walt91, #6)
"Never Lose Me" has been a nice hit for the charts this year; I'm happy that Flo Milli finally has a hit. I prefer the original over the remix, and I mainly blame Cardi B for that. "KPR" is some nice and pleasant sounding indie pop.
Megan Moroney - "No Caller ID" (indulgecountry, #1) vs Glorb - "The Bottom 2" (wheatsquares33, #6)
"No Caller ID" is pretty decent; I like this more than "Tennessee Orange". "The Bottom 2" is one my favorite extras that missed out on the 2023 RYM rankdown. There's so many quotable lines here. My favorites are "Gary is my shadow, bitch, he go wherever I go" and "I'm a stone-faced killer, like my motherfuckin' house is". If there's any ethical use of AI, it's this.
The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) vs Kylie Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6)
"i think about you all the time" was more instant to me compared to "Blame" and "How to Exit a Room". "Happy Ever After Me" is a solidly okay country song.
Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6)
I checked out Tate McRae's album after liking "Greedy" and "Exes". And... those are the only songs I only really feel compelled to return to. "hurt my feelings" isn't bad persay, but it's in one ear and out the other (it's barely even 2 minutes long). "Head Underwater" is nice, although I prefer James' other song in this set.
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6)
"Lego Ring" is kind of a strange song, but I think I like it? Maybe? I've definitely heard better from both artists. "Predictable Shame" was a better listening experience. she=onika ate=gaburgers
St. Vincent - "Flea" (Zach, #1) vs Kali Uchis - "Young Rich & In Love" (Shooter, #6)
Basically the same feelings as Wheat: I prefer "Broken Man" over "Flea", but I'm really looking forward to this new St. Vincent album this month. "Young Rich & In Love" isn't near the top of my favorites from 'ORQUÍDEAS', but that's not really a knock against it.

CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) [3.12/5] vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6) [3.85/5]
- I liked CHIKA's flow, and I thought the song was interesting. I thought the song got a little annoying at times, but overall it wasn't bad. "Floating on a Moment" was really beautiful. I really liked it on first listen. Very pretty song.
Flo Milli f/ SZA & Cardi B - "Never Lose Me" (Shooter, #1) [3.67/5] vs Yumi Zouma - "KPR" (walt91, #6) [3.65/5]
- SZA absolutely shines on "Never Lose Me" – not that that's a shock – but everyone brings their A-game to this track. I liked this a lot. This is a tragic matchup though because I really like "KPR" too. I'm almost dead even here, but going to give the upperhand to "Never Lose Me" for this one. Sorry Walt.
Megan Moroney - "No Caller ID" (indulgecountry, #1) [3.24/5] vs Glorb - "The Bottom 2" (wheatsquares33, #6) [3.88/5]
- "No Caller ID" was very nice. Definitely a been there done that sounding song, but I enjoyed Megan's voice and the song itself. LMAO "The Bottom 2" has me dying. Patrick is an absolute star on this one. I don't know why this goes so hard lmao. I love this. Was hoping to vote for indulge here since he's against my own song for the next matchup but alas.
The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) [5/5] vs Kylie Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6) [2.67/5]
- My yearly name change goes to The Maine for the year 2024. I've been absolutely obsessed with them since this album came out, and this has turned into my favorite song on the record. Just absolutely perfect power pop bliss. Can't recommend this album enough if you're into good pop rock like this. Kylie's tone was interesting, but I don't know if it was my cup of tea? The song itself was fine, but it didn't really move the needle much for me.
Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) [2.77/5] vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6) [4.2/5]
- I've kind of liked Tate's material to this point, but nothing has really wowed me from her. "exes" is probably the closest she's come to doing that. "hurt my feelings" was fine. I think it has potential, but I also thought it was a little annoying, lol. My top 4 was pretty set in stone, so my #5 and #6 seeds were kind of a crapshoot between like 10 songs in the running. I'm really happy I chose this for the #6 because I feel like I've gotten super into this the past few weeks now, and I wanted to give Corella another shot in Madness because I felt like "Do You Want It?" got robbed in its WTM because of how strong its seed was. I've been really into Corella a lot, and this is my favorite of the three singles from their upcoming debut album. Just a super fun song throughout.
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) [3.19/5] vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6) [3.33/5]
- I've really wanted to like Faye more than I do, but I don't know, just something about her music doesn't fully do it for me. This is such an interesting combo though, and I love Lil Yachty in the background on this harmonizing with Faye. I like the song, but I want more out of it. I forgot Gezebelle Gaburgably is the band that covered Kanye West's "Runaway", lol. Very interesting artist. I like this though.
St. Vincent - "Flea" (Zach, #1) [3.82/5] vs Kali Uchis - "Young Rich & In Love" (Shooter, #6) [3.56/5]
- I wasn't into St. Vincent's last era really, but I've really enjoyed the start of this new one. I don't like it as much as I like "Broken Man", but this is still really great. Kali is great, but this is just an absolutely unfortunate matchup. Liked "Young Rich & In Love" a lot but unfortunately St. Vincent clears.

CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) {6.5} vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6) {8.8} prodigy had elements i liked but overall just kinda gave me movie trailer vibes floating on a moment is gorgeous, i would’ve had it on my own list but i figured someone else would
Flo Milli f/ SZA & Cardi B - "Never Lose Me" (Shooter, #1) {6.8} vs Yumi Zouma - "KPR" (walt91, #6) {7.6} i love the original never lose me but i find this version flows a bit awkwardly in comparison & cardi doesn’t add anything kpr had a nice sound & feels like something i might save from discover weekly
Megan Moroney - "No Caller ID" (indulgecountry, #1) {6.5} vs Glorb - "The Bottom 2" (wheatsquares33, #6) {8.4} the bottom 2 goes way harder than it should
The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) {7.2} vs Kylie Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6) {6.2} i think about you all the time is probably the best songs i’ve heard from the maine? nice solid pop rock
Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) {4.8} vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6) {6.6} tate would have to make something really good for me to get over her voice & this is not that
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) {7.9} vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6) {7.4} predictable shame was loose and fun but i really like lego ring, it just works for me
St. Vincent - "Flea" (Zach, #1) {8.1} vs Kali Uchis - "Young Rich & In Love" (Shooter, #6) {7.5} haven’t heard broken man yet but flea is a strong first impression for st. vincent’s new album orquídeas started out strong for me but tapered off a bit after te mata. i would include yr&il in that section, i like the production a lot but there’s not much else to draw me in

CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6) Both songs have their merits, but the Beth track is more artistically pleasing. "Prodigy" had a decent flow but the instrumental is pure Netflix trailer hip-hop and that's never been a sound I cared for. Beth's song gives off the feeling of an older and wearier artist making something experimental and soul-searching late in her career and that's an aesthetic that's hard to top even if the execution isn't all there. Considering she's the lead singer of Portishead, perhaps this isn't that surprising.
Flo Milli f/ SZA & Cardi B - "Never Lose Me" (Shooter, #1) vs Yumi Zouma - "KPR" (walt91, #6) KPR made a more positive impression than "Never Lose Me" did. Not much else to say, neither one is really up my alley.
Megan Moroney - "No Caller ID" (indulgecountry, #1) vs Glorb - "The Bottom 2" (wheatsquares33, #6) I will not entertain the A.I. voice rapper trend on principle. PERIOD. Megan's song is adequate country pop.
The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) vs Kylie Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6) One of the best songs from The Maine's new album. The Maine has always straddled a weird line between pop-punk and indie-pop, and while this one leans towards the former, it has enough sugary sweetness to make indie pop fans happy too. It's hard for Kylie's song to compete with a dreamy banger like this one, it's more adequate country pop but isn't memorable enough to face The Maine.
Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6) Corella is one hell of a discovery. Very melodic but with a decent amount of aggression underneath the poppy sheen and a great chorus to boot. Tate McRae sounds more natural here than when she's chasing Olivia Rodrigo, but this felt a bit generic to me.
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6) Lego Ring is fun, a lot of interesting sounds and ideas going on. "Predictable Shame" is messy. I want to like it, but it just lacks coherency. Maybe if the production was better I would have bought in more.
St. Vincent - "Flea" (Zach, #1) vs Kali Uchis - "Young Rich & In Love" (Shooter, #6) I am legitimately getting hyped for St. Vincent's upcoming album. This and "Broken Man" sound exceptionally cool and edgy, like if Nine Inch Nails was a female-lead act. "Flea" has a nasty undertone that the more melodic "Broken Man" doesn't, however, but I like the grit. "Young Rich & In Love" isn't really my thing, unfortunately.

CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6) I totally agree with those here who have said "Prodigy" sounds like film trailer music. It's a bit of a mess. CHIKA is good here, though. (5/10) I don't quite love "Floating on a Moment", but it is quite pretty. The music video for this one is absolutely terrible by the way. (7/10)
Flo Milli f/ SZA & Cardi B - "Never Lose Me" (Shooter, #1) vs Yumi Zouma - "KPR" (walt91, #6) The original "Never Lose Me" is one of my favorite hits of the year. This remix isn't really neccessary but the core song is so strong that I still enjoy it quite a bit. (8/10) "KPR" is one of those songs that just instantly clicks hard, man. I won't be shocked if this stays in my rotation for a while. (10/10, best of the set)
Megan Moroney - "No Caller ID" (indulgecountry, #1) vs Glorb - "The Bottom 2" (wheatsquares33, #6) Megan Moroney is one of my favorites in mainstream country at the moment, and No Caller ID doesn't disappoint. (9/10) "The Bottom 2" is fun, though I'm not a fan of the prospect of AI in music in general (this is about the best it gets in that regard I guess). (7/10)
The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) vs Kylie Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6) I would've been a lot nicer to "i think about you all the time" in the Alt rankdown than I was to "blame"; I guess this is a lot more my style. (9/10) "Happy Ever After Me" is actually the song I thought I'd be voting for in this matchup going in, but the very good country song got royally outclassed. Unfortunate. (8/10)
Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6) "hurt my feelings" is a weak song from an unremarkable album from an unremarkable artist. (4/10) "Head Underwater" doesn't really do too much for me either, it's pleasant enough though. (6/10)
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6) "Lego Ring" is very awkward and Lil Yachty kinda sucks on it. (5/10) I feel like "Predictable Shame" is usually the type of song I'd instantly hate, but exact opposite happened here. (9/10, might even be lowballing it)
St. Vincent - "Flea" (Zach, #1) vs Kali Uchis - "Young Rich & In Love" (Shooter, #6) "Flea" straight up rocks. Between this and "Broken Man", I might just need to check out this St. Vincent album when it releases. (9/10) "Young Rich & In Love" wasn't nearly my favorite from ORQUÍDEAS but it's still solid (my personal top 4 from the album are actually the other songs that were sent for this March Madness). (6/10)

CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6)
- Floating was pretty good, I just don't see myself returning to it much. Prodigy was a solid bop!
Flo Milli f/ SZA & Cardi B - "Never Lose Me" (Shooter, #1) vs Yumi Zouma - "KPR" (walt91, #6)
- Both are really close actually...
Megan Moroney - "No Caller ID" (indulgecountry, #1) vs Glorb - "The Bottom 2" (wheatsquares33, #6)
- No Caller ID was pleasant, maybe not clicking as much as her hit last year though. I normally don't care for meme songs but somehow The Bottom 2 just really works? It's such a fun listen!
The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) vs Kylie Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6)
- "time" was just a solid indie tune.
Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6)
- I think Tate releases like one song I really like and then there's a good year in between before the next one I really get into (SAIWB, Exes, etc). It wasn't horrible or anything, but I wasn't feeling this one. Head Underwater clicked a bit more!
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6)
- I thought it would maybe be a little bit closer? :( Lego Ring has been such a vibe for me lately, Faye has been one of my favorites for a while and I really loved Yachty's album last year so this collab was an instant hit. Just so vibey... Predictable Shame was a nice discovery so I guess I'm at least glad I'm losing to a song I like lol
St. Vincent - "Flea" (Zach, #1) vs Kali Uchis - "Young Rich & In Love" (Shooter, #6)
- This matchup is evil... both St Vincent and Kali Uchis have been dominating my charts with their new material.

CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6) Tricky cause both are by good acts and yet both feel like they should be better. Ultimately, went with Floating on a Moment because Prodigy felt rather underwhelming for a bragging song whilst the atmosphere and Beth's vocals at least sound interesting
Flo Milli f/ SZA & Cardi B - "Never Lose Me" (Shooter, #1) vs Yumi Zouma - "KPR" (walt91, #6) I wasn't even a huge fan of the original Never Lose Me and adding two guest verses that don't add much didn't help. I've heard similar songs to KPR in indie rock but I still like the vibe it made.
Megan Moroney - "No Caller ID" (indulgecountry, #1) vs Glorb - "The Bottom 2" (wheatsquares33, #6) Um....the internet scares me
The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) vs Kylie Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6) About the only time I'd choose to listen to a Maine song
Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6) A fine alt song though nothing I'd seek my myself but it was better than Tate
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6) Normally I would go with Gezebelle because I haven't been Faye's biggest fan...and yet it just so happens the first time I'm really digging her music is this year
St. Vincent - "Flea" (Zach, #1) vs Kali Uchis - "Young Rich & In Love" (Shooter, #6) Another really great song from St. Vincent. I don't quite love it the same way I do for Broken Man but I'm still so excited for her next album.

CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6) - CHIKA feels like an artist that has potential but consistently misses the mark
Flo Milli f/ SZA & Cardi B - "Never Lose Me" (Shooter, #1) vs Yumi Zouma - "KPR" (walt91, #6) - If this were solo NLM I'd vote it but I hate that remix axes her off her own song despite the fact that I like the additions, its just too short and stuffed up given its under 3 minute runtime. KPR was a great discovery.
Megan Moroney - "No Caller ID" (indulgecountry, #1) vs Glorb - "The Bottom 2" (wheatsquares33, #6)
The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) vs Kylie Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6)
Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6)
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6) - Still just not really getting much into Faye tbh
St. Vincent - "Flea" (Zach, #1) vs Kali Uchis - "Young Rich & In Love" (Shooter, #6) - Ugh these are 2 best songs here fuck

CHIKA - "Prodigy" (Au$tin, #1) vs Beth Gibbons - "Floating on a Moment" (singingrulebritannia, #6) Don't really like the pitched down chorus and some of the rap bars in Prodigy (If the industry full of shit/Then my words is a laxative...eh). Not really a fan of child-like choir in latter part of Floating on a Moment, but the message of mortality is solidly written.
Flo Milli f/ SZA & Cardi B - "Never Lose Me" (Shooter, #1) vs Yumi Zouma - "KPR" (walt91, #6) Original version of Never Lose Me is still the best, but at least SZA and Cardi B (who sings decently, tbf) didn't drag that down a lot. I feel there are a lot of songs like KPR sent to these games now and then but the female vocalist has solid voice.
Megan Moroney - "No Caller ID" (indulgecountry, #1) vs Glorb - "The Bottom 2" (wheatsquares33, #6) No Caller ID represents a kind of artistic and personality growth in that she actually tries to not to be a simp and has a better production, even though the intro sounds like the one from Man Made A Bar. Don't really care about AI lyrics aspect for The Bottom 2. It's just in a music style that I don't like in general.
The Maine - "i think about you all the time" (maine, #1) vs Kylie Morgan - "Happy Ever After Me" (indulgecountry, #6) i think about you all the time is definitely the best The Maine song I have listened so far. Just a very energetic rock song that reminds me of better The Killers etc. I had Happy Ever After Me pretty high on the new country releases rankdown as well, but it is not as immediate as the other one.
Tate McRae - "hurt my feelings" (M5AGTS, #1) vs Corella - "Head Underwater" (maine, #6) The good news is that I don't think hurt my feelings is that different from greedy or exes in terms of quality. The bad news is that I don't like any of them. Fortunately Head Underwater is solid harder alt-rock song.
Faye Webster & Lil Yachty - "Lego Ring" (wrip, #1) vs Gezebelle Gaburgably - "Predictable Shame" (deca, #6) Tbf has a low expectation in Lego Ring but it's slightly better than expected, even though the momentum is uneven. Not particularly a fan of lo-fi style in Predictable Shame, but at least it sounds more consistent.
St. Vincent - "Flea" (Zach, #1) vs Kali Uchis - "Young Rich & In Love" (Shooter, #6) Um Flea actually sounds a bit underwhelming in first two listens. Chorus is a bit weak but the bridge saves it. Will see in album context. Young Rich & In Love is middle-tier song in the new Kali Uchis album. For the middle part I would have chosen Tu Corazón Es Mío... as the stand out.
