I LOVED their first album... Jared Leto is an actor/musician who manages to do both REALLY REALLY well and I hope they top their self titled debut.

The assholes at Rolling Stone and especially Spin don't seem to think he does music well...

This is some exciting news; there just hasn't been much word on what these guys have been doing the past couple years. Last I heard (which was in December), they were almost finished with the album and were expecting it to drop in March. And I was like, "Well it's March now, so where is it?". According to this article, August 16th is the date for A Beautiful Lie. I'm on high alert for copies of this new single now. It'd be awesome if this song could catch fire this summer, much like Lostprophets and Queens of the Stone Age have done in recent years, following up great albums totally underrated at radio with #1 hits.

I just got a copy of this single, and I'm somewhat disappointed. It's a good song, but just sounds too generic for 30STM. I hope this isn't indicative of the entire album, but at the same time I'm not sure their previous album could ever be topped so my expectations are probably too high.

The song can be now heard by logging on to www.thirtysecondstomars.com. The site, at long last, has a new look as well. After one listen, it's a good song, but not a kickass song. It took me a couple weeks to get "Capricorn", so I'm sure it'll come around in a big way. I won't argue with hunter about it being a little more mainstream than I had expected, and wished for. The thing that worries me is that the album's only 39 minutes long. 39 minutes of songs from their self-titled would amount to, like, 6 tracks. So I'm thinkin' they're gonna go with some shorter tracks this time. Hopefully they'll be able to pull it off while staying true to themselves. Regardless, the album's still a first-day-out buy for me.

Regardless, the album's still a first-day-out buy for me. I'll agree with that. Over the past few days I've found myself enjoying this a lot more. It's just different than what I had expected so I guess that's what threw me off at first. I'm a little worried about the 39 minute issue, but since I don't expect the album will have any filler in it - just all potential singles, then I guess 39 minutes is not too bad. I think "Attack" already proves that we'll see shorter tracks considering it's significantly shorter than all but one track on the previous album.

It oughta be pretty brutal to hear Jared try to sing this live, especially if it's not the first song or two in the set. Personally, I would never record vocals that so obviously strained my natural upper register, for just that reason. I was hoping for a little better from a lead single the second time around.

Yea, I heard KPNT play this last week. :) So KPNT still plays a few quality tracks. That's somewhat reassuring. I've goten to the point I rarely tune into KPNT except for New Music Sunday with Les Aaron and sometimes the local show. Other than that it seems like their playlist has just become so limited with the same overplayed tracks in recent years...plus the recent Pointfests have been such a joke compared to years past. Anyway I'm glad to hear they picked up 30STM because I don't recall them spinning the singles from the first album much, so hopefully this is a good sign.

Since I didn't say their name, you probably didn't intend it, but my highlighting is pun totally intended! But yeah, you're totally right about them, otherwise. And who's to say if they'll put "Attack" in any kind of actual rotation. Where do you live? Do you ever listen to KNSX (93.3) in the St. Louis area? It's not 100% comprehensive, but it plays more of the stuff I want to hear and almost no stale golds whatsoever.

Its impact week drives the song into the top 60 now, with eight of the plays coming from new Mediabase member WRWK of Toledo, putting an end to 3½ years of unmonitored status. !

I think they're going out on tour with The Used starting in mid-August too. I will try everything I can do to get to that Columbia show though...but I bet I get stuck at work instead

This certainly very quietly performed quite successfully by 3STM standards, almost hitting the Top 20. When does it go recurrent, or will they hold it on longer than 20 weeks?

Nobody responded earlier; when does this song go recurrent?

Unless the record company requested that it be left on, it should be recurrent next week.
