What songs have debuted at the bottom of your personal chart, but made it all the way to the top?
To my surprise, I found that no song has done this since the beginning of 2002 (the earliest time from which I still have archives of my chart). The eight times where a #1 song didn't make its top 50 debut inside the top 40:
(Debut position) "Title", Artist (49) "Meant to Live", Switchfoot (48) "The Way You Move", OutKast f/Sleepy Brown (47) "What It Is to Burn", Finch (47) "No Such Thing", John Mayer (45) "Hero", Chad Kroeger f/Josey Scott (43) "Megalomaniac", Incubus (42) "The Boys of Summer", The Ataris (42) "Gone Away", Cold
This year, the only two songs to debut at #100 but still make the top 10 are "Hey Mama" by the Black Eyed Peas and "Ocean Avenue" by Yellowcard.

Two off the top of my head that debuted at #50 (the anchor position) and went on to be huge #1s on my chart are "Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence and "In Da Club" by 50 Cent.
Edit: Also "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion.
I'm sure there's a few more, I'll have to go through my charts to check.Β :)

LOL, I was going to say that it should be a chart of at least 30 positions, because it's not that out of the ordinary for a song to come in at #20 then rise to #1, but I left it open.

Hmmm... It would be tough for me to find since my chart is a Top 100 and #100 is usually reserved for a song that is just hanging on due to lack of new songs or for a new song that I know just a bit. Most of my #1 songs are songs that I loved from the get-go and thus have a high entry. I'll have to get back to you!

That would've shut many of us out, which isn't exactly fair. >:( But if it'll make you happy, on my OTHER chart, Creed did it in 2000 with "With Arms Wide Open" (back when the chart was a Top 40). I almost think "Lady Marmalade" did it too in 2001 (also Top 40), but I forget where that debuted.

* Echo - Trapt (5 weeks on top) * Hands Down - Dashboard Confessional (5 weeks on top) ("Screaming infidelities" & "Saints and sailors" also debuted at the bottom of the chart) * ... only those songs on 4 four years. And I have to say that I didn't expected them to get the #1 when thay debuted
