Hey PMB members! I am very curious as to how these Personal Charts work. Do each of you have a personal internet station that you program? Do you just make these things up? Can someone explain, not necessarily in depth, what the charts are based on and where the basis comes from? Thanks!

I can't speak for everyone, but my chart (and probably most of those posted here) is simply a listing of my favorite songs for the week. That's all. :)

Basically it's an arbitrary ranking of what one thinks is their favorite songs of the week, based on whatever criteria one deems appropriate. So that can be radio airplay, videos, album listening, MP3 listening, whatever you want.

Yeah Shania's song just spent 11 weeks at #2 on my chart, and that's the beauty of it all. Even if everyone else hates a song you love, it's YOUR chart. You can chart anything you want for as long as you want to. Right now, I'm obsessed with "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and at its 10th week at #1, I really don't see an end in sight yet for its reign.

You can chart anything you want for as long as you want to. "I Showed Her" by O-Town is a perfect example of that on my chart. Even though the song only stayed on the R&R chart for a month, it was on mine for well over a year.
