As Josh suspected (no, I didn’t tell him beforehand)…
After nearly three years of seeing the R&R/Pulse 100 through its highs (70 reporters in one week; the tension-filled MSN chat room as I counted down the top songs of 2003) and its lows (gaps of a month or more in publishing the charts on time), I have decided that I will no longer be compiling the chart. I just don’t have the desire to do everything it takes to keep up with it anymore. More than just what you see posted in each week’s Pulse 100 topic, I have to compile every chart into an Excel sheet, update the year-end archive of songs (of which there are well over 200 that receive at least two reporters per week), positions, peaks, and points every week, and post the chart on the Geocities website (which isn’t automatically generated from the Excel sheet – it’s manually done).
In lieu of the 2004 year-end chart compiled from the weekly Pulse 100 charts, I’ll be using the year-end personal charts posted on the board (yes, I’ll include those revealed through guessing games). So I encourage everyone to post his or her year-end charts, even if you haven’t been a regular reporter throughout the year.
I came to this decision about a month ago, but I considered starting it back up again if there were a lot of people anticipating its return. But there wasn’t so much as a peep, which leads me to believe that there just isn’t much interest in it anymore. Of course, I could be wrong.
I’ve invested way too much time in this chart to see it go out like a lamb. I want it to continue. But I know that I can’t be the one to do it. So if you would like to see it return, and are seriously interested in committing time to the project (it doesn’t have to be a one-person thing), either reply here or PM me.
This is the end of the chapter, but I hope it won’t be the end of the book.

Sorry to see it go. Hopefully people will still post their weekly charts anyway.

I redated the Pulse charts thread to January 2, which is a Sunday, even though that's ahead for my chart which is dated December 30. I didnt want to confuse anyone even though I'd rather have it dated December 26 which would be this week. Does anyone have any ideas?

Specify a 7-day date range, possibly Monday through Sunday (which would make it Personal Charts for December 27, 2004-January 2, 2005 or something. Of course, I doubt that would fit in the topic title, but a two-year span only happens... once a year.).

And I was just about to start compiling a Personal Chart. :( So, no one says you still can't. I mean, I don't think anyone here compiles a chart for the sake of the Pulse 100.

So first PeopleBase, and now the R&R/Pulse 100 goes by the wayside. It's sad to see so many traditions of this music board stop because of lack of interest, etc. Oh well, I will still be compiling my chart and posting it here. Thanks for all of the hard work you put into the chart Matt!

The way the date thing is now works fine, but another idea is the way Billboard does it... "Personal Charts for Week Ending [insert the Saturday's date]"
