Commentary: This year, many of my favorites dropped by, as well as many surprises. VAST turned out with what would become my favorite album of all-time already. Some weren't as far high as my expectations, like Modest Mouse, although still pretty good. I had to see what the Kanye hype was all about, although compared to what most people say, the above paragraph is true.
Albums from 2003 that I didn't give enough credit to: A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step (although it was listed as #10, it was top 3-worthy) The Postal Service - Give Up Rancid - Indestructible (I borrowed this from a library)
I felt like keeping them all on, but I had to remember to mention Air, DEP, and the Polyphonic Spree.

A lot of must-owns for 2004, and if you didn't get them in 2004, get them in 2005! The following are my favorites, too: 21. Incubus - A Crow Left of the Murder 20. The Killers - Hot Fuss 19. Kanye West - The College Dropout 16. Interpol - Antics ( I'm glad to see that so many people enjoyed this album, because I felt it was definitely one of the best of the year.) 14. U2 - How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb 11. Beastie Boys - To the 5 Boroughs 6. Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand 5. Lostprophets - Start Something ( I've heard this, but haven't got around to buying it yet. I love this album!) 3. Muse - Absolution ( I really want this!) I've been wanting to hear the Muse record for a while now - so I'm going to get that on iTunes, as well as the Lostprophets record.

Wow! Cool list!! I didn't even know that VAST had a new CD out.. The last album I have by them is 2001's "Music For the People".. I'll have to check that out!

Most people didn't. Ever since he left Elektra, VAST has basically been an unheard of artist. The new album's on an independent label, 456. I believe that he's leaving the label and releasing stuff & promoting through future releases on 2 Blossom, Jon's own label. I like it better than MFP because to me the songs sound somewhat more "complete". I love that album, but every time I listen to "A Better Place", I wonder why that song isn't a minute longer.
