We were overdue and I was itching to grade, so I took some initiative.
CHR/Pop
Kelly Clarkson- Since U Been Gone: B+ (But how this is still going strong, when I burned out on it over a month ago, is beyond me. Payola, perhaps? Green Day- Boulevard of Broken Dreams: A+ Usher- Caught Up: B- (It's ridiculous how much longevity this song has had when it really isn't a strong Usher single.) Frankie J f/ Baby Bash- Obsession (No Es Amor): B- (I suspect payola has helped this quite a bit.) Gwen Stefani f/ Eve- Rich Girl: B- (I don't see how payola could not have had a hand in the continuing success of this one, considering it's relative crap from both artists.) Ciara f/ Missy Elliott- 1, 2 Step: D (Total bulls**t how this one went to #1, considering "Goodies" did not.) 50 Cent f/ Olivia- Candy Shop: C- (50, what is this crap?) Natalie- Goin' Crazy: B 50 Cent- Disco Inferno: A- (Why this wasn't the official first single is beyond me. It's 10 times better than "Candy Shop.") Mario- Let Me Love You: B Eminem- Mockingbird: B (Kind of whiny when you get right down to it.) Alicia Keys- Karma: B- (There's no way payola has not helped this song.) Rob Thomas- Lonely No More: B (For now. I'm surprised to see this suddenly struggling.) Jesse McCartney- Beautiful Soul: D+ The Game f/ 50 Cent- How We Do: B+ Gavin DeGraw- I Don't Wanna Be: B 3 Doors Down- Let Me Go: B Mariah Carey f/ Jermaine Dupri & Fatman Scoop- It's Like That: D- (And no, I'm not just hating. I spelled out all the reasons why I don't like it in its Pop forum topic. I actually raised it from an F.) Akon- Lonely: C (I don't get this and it's only doing well because of that sped-up old sample.) The Killers- Mr. Brightside: A Bowling for Soup- Almost: B Destiny's Child f/ T.I. & Lil Wayne- Soldier: F Trick Daddy f/ Cee-Lo & Ludacris or Lil' Kim- Sugar (Gimme Some): D+ Jet- Look What You've Done: B Omarion- O: D- Jay-Z & Linkin Park- Numb/Encore: B- Will Smith- Switch: C (So he doesn't curse, but he's objectifying women in the video. How does he sleep at night? He's gonna have to hit with better songs than this for any sort of serious redemption.) Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz f/ Usher & Ludacris- Lovers and Friends: B (It's nauseating how the East Side Boyz' only contribution is chanting "Shawday" to punctuate Lil Jon's verse. Nauseating that 2 people with so little musical talent get so rich.) Howie Day- Collide: B (Nice to see this get recognized finally.) Jennifer Lopez f/ Fat Joe- Hold You Down: nfe (But it's her best single since "All I Have," which was a solid B in my eyes.) The Game f/ 50 Cent- Hate It or Love It: B (For now. He seems incapable of releasing a single without 50 on it.) Gavin DeGraw- Chariot: nfe Papa Roach- Scars: A- Tim McGraw- Live Like You Were Dying: B+ Snoop Dogg f/ Uncle Charlie Wilson & Justin Timberlake- Signs: B+ (It's baffling to see this plummet suddenly. The video was pretty much money down the toilet, in that case.) Keane- Somewhere Only We Know: B Crossfade- Cold: B+ Destiny's Child- Girl: nfe (But It's a hell of a lot better than "Soldier.") Eminem- Like Toy Soldiers: B (Based on the success of this song, no doubt, I heard a Hot AC station play Martika's original earlier this month. I'd been dying to hear it again ever since I heard this.) Maroon 5- Sunday Morning: B Avril Lavigne- Nobody's Home: A- Snoop Dogg f/ Pharrell- Drop It Like It's Hot: A- John Legend- Ordinary People: B+ (I'm very interested in hearing his album now that he's had 2 fine singles.) Trillville f/ Cutty- Some Cut: F (The bottom of hip hop's 2005 barrel so far.) Eminem f/ Dr. Dre & 50 Cent- Encore: A- Ludacris- Get Back: B Nivea f/ Lil Jon & YoungBloodz- Okay: F Baby Bash- Baby I'm Back: n/a Mario- How Could You: B- (For now.) Ashanti- Only U: A-
And while I'm at it, Simple Plan's new juvenile ballad getting 46 adds without going for adds is complete payola, too, since I won't get a chance to grade that for awhile.
AC
Los Lonely Boys- Heaven: B+ John Mayer- Daughters: C Maroon 5- She Will Be Loved: B+ Michael Bublé- Home: n/a (self imposed) Keith Urban- You'll Think of Me: n/a Martina McBride- In My Daughter's Eyes: n/a Hall & Oates- I'll Be Around: n/a Goo Goo Dolls- Give a Little Bit: B- Maroon 5- This Love: B+ Hoobastank- The Reason: B+ Kenny G f/ Earth, Wind and Fire- The Way You Move: nfe Phil Collins- Don't Let Him Steal Your Heart Away: n/a (but want to hear it.) Ryan Cabrera- True: B+ MercyMe- Homesick: n/a Tina Turner- Open Arms: n/a (mild interest) Scott Grimes- Sunset Blvd.: n/a Vanessa Williams- You Are Everything: n/a (mild interest) Five for Fighting- If God Made You: n/a (mild interest) Rod Stewart- Blue Moon: n/a (mild interest) Ray Charles f/ Diana Krall- You Don't Know Me: n/a (mild interest) Elton John- All That I'm Allowed: n/a (but want to hear it.) Celine Dion- In Some Small Way: n/a (mild interest) Rascal Flatts- Bless the Broken Road: n/a Finger Eleven- One Thing: B Joe Cocker- One: n/a (mild interest)

Chevelle- The Clincher: B+ (For now.) Weezer- Beverly Hills: B (so far.) Crossfade- So Far Away: B- Three Days Grace- Home: B+ The Exies- Ugly: D+ Mudvayne- Happy?: B+ (so far) A Perfect Circle- Passive: A- Trust Company- Stronger: B+ (For now.) Interpol- Evil: B+ (For now.) Z-Trip f/ Chester Bennington- Walking Dead: B- (so far) Unwritten Law- Save Me: B+ Kings of Leon- The Bucket: C (I can't stand those twangy, note-bending howls in the chorus.) System of a Down- B.Y.O.B.: B+ (so far) The Killers- Smile Like You Mean It: B+ (For now.) The Bravery- An Honest Mistake: A+ (Though, the fact that this didn't see success similar to "Somebody Told Me" is ridiculous and unacceptable.) Louis XIV- Finding Out True Love Is Blind: B- (so far) No Address- When I'm Gone (Sadie): nfe (But it would definitely get a grade of C or lower.) My Chemical Romance- Helena: A+ Hot Hot Heat- Goodnight Goodnight: B (so far. It's interesting that the chorus is in a different key.) Sum 41- Pieces: A Shinedown- Burning Bright: C- The Kaiser Chiefs- I Predict a Riot: nfe Acceptance- Different: n/a Slipknot- Before I Forget: B (so far) Pepper- Give It Up: n/a (But I'd like to know what all the fuss is about.) Velvet Revolver- Dirty Little Thing: A- Modest Mouse- The World at Large: n/a (Though I'd like to hear it.)

CHR/Pop
Kelly Clarkson- Since U Been Gone: F (That's it, I've heard enough of it to grade it. She makes songs that should be pretty good, but wind up completely annoying. Plus my AI bias doesn't help her.) Green Day- Boulevard of Broken Dreams: A+ Usher- Caught Up: C- Frankie J f/ Baby Bash- Obsession (No Es Amor): B- (But I turned the radio on to this song and thought Justin Timberlake was singing. Definitely not good.) Gwen Stefani f/ Eve- Rich Girl: B- (...it's relative crap from both artists.) (Word. "What You Waiting For" was just as deserving of top 5 status in my book.) Ciara f/ Missy Elliott- 1, 2 Step: B- (But it's the most generic of her three singles.) 50 Cent f/ Olivia- Candy Shop: F (I thought this song was called "Magic Stick") Natalie- Goin' Crazy: B+ (Love the nostalgia vibe this song gives off) 50 Cent- Disco Inferno: D- Mario- Let Me Love You: D Eminem- Mockingbird: C+ (What a boring retread of "Hailie's Song". This is easily my least favorite by him.) Alicia Keys- Karma: C- Rob Thomas- Lonely No More: C+ (Geez, and people call "Boulevard" overrated.) Jesse McCartney- Beautiful Soul: D- The Game f/ 50 Cent- How We Do: n/a Gavin DeGraw- I Don't Wanna Be: F 3 Doors Down- Let Me Go: B+ Mariah Carey f/ Jermaine Dupri & Fatman Scoop- It's Like That: F Akon- Lonely: A- (Yeah, that six-inch chipmunk's chorus is too infectious for me to deny that grade right now.) The Killers- Mr. Brightside: A+ Bowling for Soup- Almost: D- (But the fact that the fat guy is wearing a Curtis Martin jersey in the video is just disconcerting to me) Destiny's Child f/ T.I. & Lil Wayne- Soldier: F Trick Daddy f/ Cee-Lo & Ludacris or Lil' Kim- Sugar (Gimme Some): n/a Jet- Look What You've Done: B- Omarion- O: n/a Jay-Z & Linkin Park- Numb/Encore: A- Will Smith- Switch: D- Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz f/ Usher & Ludacris- Lovers and Friends: B- (But why is it that Luda misprounces Usher's name every time they work together? It's not "Ursher", it's "Usher".) Howie Day- Collide: B+ Jennifer L***z f/ Fat Joe- Hold You Down: F (Seriously, does anything happen in this song?) The Game f/ 50 Cent- Hate It or Love It: C- Gavin DeGraw- Chariot: D+ Papa Roach- Scars: B- Tim McGraw- Live Like You Were Dying: D- (Most country crossovers seem to work for me, but this one's just boring to me) Snoop Dogg f/ Uncle Charlie Wilson & Justin Timberlake- Signs: F (Snoop, what were you thinking, man?) Keane- Somewhere Only We Know: B Crossfade- Cold: B+ Destiny's Child- Girl: n/a Eminem- Like Toy Soldiers: A- Maroon 5- Sunday Morning: A- Avril Lavigne- Nobody's Home: A- Snoop Dogg f/ Pharrell- Drop It Like It's Hot: A John Legend- Ordinary People: C- Trillville f/ Cutty- Some Cut: F Eminem f/ Dr. Dre & 50 Cent- Encore: n/a Ludacris- Get Back: B+ Nivea f/ Lil Jon & YoungBloodz- Okay: n/a Baby Bash- Baby I'm Back: n/a Mario- How Could You: n/a Ashanti- Only U: A-
AC
Los Lonely Boys- Heaven: F John Mayer- Daughters: B+ Maroon 5- She Will Be Loved: A Michael Bublé- Home: n/a Keith Urban- You'll Think of Me: n/a Martina McBride- In My Daughter's Eyes: n/a Hall & Oates- I'll Be Around: n/a Goo Goo Dolls- Give a Little Bit: B- Maroon 5- This Love: A Hoobastank- The Reason: B+ Kenny G f/ Earth, Wind and Fire- The Way You Move: n/a Phil Collins- Don't Let Him Steal Your Heart Away: n/a Ryan Cabrera- True: B MercyMe- Homesick: n/a Tina Turner- Open Arms: n/a Scott Grimes- Sunset Blvd.: n/a Vanessa Williams- You Are Everything: n/a Five for Fighting- If God Made You: n/a Rod Stewart- Blue Moon: n/a Ray Charles f/ Diana Krall- You Don't Know Me: n/a Elton John- All That I'm Allowed: n/a Celine Dion- In Some Small Way: n/a Rascal Flatts- Bless the Broken Road: n/a Finger Eleven- One Thing: A- (Too bad they seem to have screwed themselves with this one, though) Joe Cocker- One: n/a

Submersed- Hollow: A- Ozzy Osbourne- Mississippi Queen: n/a Breaking Benjamin- So Cold: A Silvertide- Blue Jeans: C+ Black Label Society- Suicide Messiah: F Drowning Pool- Killin' Me: F (I hate how the lead singer now makes the band sound like Mudvayne since the latter band is capable of so much better) Future Leaders of the World- Everyday: C (It's not as good or catchy as "Let Me Out", though.) The Prom Kings- Alone: n/a Mötley Crüe- If I Die Tomorrow: D- Skindred- Pressure: B- Billy Idol- Scream: D- Porcupine Tree- Shallow: n/a Mötley Crüe- Sick Love Song: n/a Robert Plant- Shine It All Around: n/a Crazy Anglos- Fade: C System of a Down- Cigaro: A- Alter Bridge- Find the Real: B- (Not as good as "Open Your Eyes", though, which didn't sound much like Creed either in my opinion) Atreyu- Right Side of the Bed: B (This kicks ass, but the screaming toward the beginning unfortunately brings it down for me, otherwise, it'd easily be an A-range song right now) Full Scale- Party Political: n/a Breaking Point- Show Me a Sign: n/a Strata- Never There: n/a American Head Charge- Loyalty: n/a Killswitch Engage- Rose of Sharyn: n/a Madside- Enemy: n/a Judas Priest- Revolution: D-
Rock
U2- All Because of You: A+ (But why did this have to fall off the face of the Earth?) Slipknot- Vermilion: A (Easily their best single, I love how they infuse such interesting melodies in their songs, plus the lyrics for this push it over the top)
AAA
Blue Merle- Burning in the Sun: n/a Tori Amos- Sleeps with Butterflies: D+ Madeleine Peyroux- Don't Wait Too Long: n/a Moby- Beautiful: B- (I don't know anything else after this.)

CHR/Pop
Kelly Clarkson- Since U Been Gone: C ("Breakaway" was so much better.) Green Day- Boulevard of Broken Dreams: A Usher- Caught Up: B- (I thought this had a cool sound to it at first, but it's quickly wearing this.) Frankie J f/ Baby Bash- Obsession (No Es Amor): C+ (It should've been "Don't Wanna Try" that did this well, not this bland song.) Gwen Stefani f/ Eve- Rich Girl: B- Ciara f/ Missy Elliott- 1, 2 Step: D+ (At least "Goodies" was unintentionally funny.) 50 Cent f/ Olivia- Candy Shop: D ("Magic Stick" was hardly good enough to deserve a sequal.) Natalie- Goin' Crazy: C (this is actually growing on me.) 50 Cent- Disco Inferno: C- Mario- Let Me Love You: B- Eminem- Mockingbird: B- Alicia Keys- Karma: C+ Rob Thomas- Lonely No More: A- Jesse McCartney- Beautiful Soul: D+ (I still don't get how this got all the way up here.) The Game f/ 50 Cent- How We Do: C (Another example of a song with a good beat,, but no other redeaming qualities.) Gavin DeGraw- I Don't Wanna Be: B- 3 Doors Down- Let Me Go: B- Mariah Carey f/ Jermaine Dupri & Fatman Scoop- It's Like That: B Akon f/ Alvin and the Chipmunks- Lonely: B+ (guilty pleasure.) The Killers- Mr. Brightside: A- Bowling for Soup- Almost: C- (one of these days the strategy of releasing all novelty songs will fail.) Destiny's Child f/ T.I. & Lil Wayne- Soldier: D- (I had to raise this to a passing grade because the lyrics are really fun to make fun of.) Trick Daddy f/ Cee-Lo & Ludacris or Lil' Kim- Sugar (Gimme Some): n/a (and "dwth".) Jet- Look What You've Done: B- (I liked it more at first though.) Omarion- O: n/a (I'll be shocked if it gets higher than an F+ though.) Jay-Z & Linkin Park- Numb/Encore: B- (but how the hell has this not dropped off the face of the charts by now.) Will Smith- Switch: C+ (I was expecting to hate this, but I actually kind of like it. It may grow on me even more.) Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz f/ Usher & Ludacris- Lovers and Friends: B- Howie Day- Collide: B+ Jennifer Lopez f/ Fat Joe- Hold You Down: C- The Game f/ 50 Cent- Hate It or Love It: n/a Gavin DeGraw- Chariot: nfe (all I've heard is a 30 second sample earlier today in an ad for the concert he played here tonight.) Papa Roach- Scars: A- Tim McGraw- Live Like You Were Dying: B+ Snoop Dogg f/ Uncle Charlie Wilson & Justin Timberlake- Signs: C (based on one listen.) Keane- Somewhere Only We Know: A Crossfade- Cold: C+ (but why is this on the pop chart.) Destiny's Child- Girl: F (and that's without having heard it. This group sucks so bad.) Eminem- Like Toy Soldiers: B- (I like the chorus a lot. Does it sample some other song?) Maroon 5- Sunday Morning: B+ ("Breakaway" was so much better.) Avril Lavigne- Nobody's Home: C+ Snoop Dogg f/ Pharrell- Drop It Like It's Hot: D John Legend- Ordinary People: F Trillville f/ Cutty- Some Cut: n/a Eminem f/ Dr. Dre & 50 Cent- Encore: C- Ludacris- Get Back: C (It gets a boost because the way his voice sounds cracks me up.) Nivea f/ Lil Jon & YoungBloodz- Okay: C- (after one listen.) Baby Bash- Baby I'm Back: n/a Mario- How Could You: C- (after one listen.) Ashanti- Only U: C+
I'll do the other formats tommorow.

Kelly Clarkson- Since U Been Gone: A- (What a great song with a great video to accompany it. It's sticking around because it deserves to, in my humble opinion.) Green Day- Boulevard of Broken Dreams: A+ Usher- Caught Up: C+ (This is the weakest single off Confessions to me. I like it, but I don't like it enough.) Frankie J f/ Baby Bash- Obsession (No Es Amor): A (Great song by Frankie J. Who would've thought?) Gwen Stefani f/ Eve- Rich Girl: A- (Her best solo single to date.) Ciara f/ Missy Elliott- 1, 2 Step: B+ (I personally think this song was ten times better than that wack ass first single with the Freek-A-Leek instrumental. I'm talking about you, Goodies.) 50 Cent f/ Olivia- Candy Shop: F (HAAAAATE it. This song's concept should've been aborted before it was even recorded. No, Fitty, your lyrics are not 'seductive' or sexy. YOU are not sexy.) Natalie- Goin' Crazy: C- (It's average; I like it.) 50 Cent- Disco Inferno: D (C+ for the beat; F for the lyrics. Nice try, but it's no good.) Mario- Let Me Love You: A- (I loved this song from the moment I heard it and even though it's heavily overplayed, I still love hearing it.) Eminem- Mockingbird: B+ (Yes, the theme is getting really old. You ask yourself, 'How many musical letters can he write to Hailie?' But it's so well exicuted, like most of his introspective singles. It's classic Em.) Alicia Keys- Karma: B Rob Thomas- Lonely No More: B+ (Haven't heard this enough to make a final judgement, but from what I have heard, it deserves a B+.) Jesse McCartney- Beautiful Soul: C+ (It's a PURE POP track that did well on CHR/Pop. I don't see anything wrong with a cute song like this getting in the mix.) The Game f/ 50 Cent- How We Do: C+ (It's solid.) Gavin DeGraw- I Don't Wanna Be: B (My love for this song has died a bit. But I can't deny its above average grade.) 3 Doors Down- Let Me Go: A (Instantly loved it!) Mariah Carey f/ Jermaine Dupri & Fatman Scoop- It's Like That: B+ (After hearing We Belong Together, this song became a little second rate for me. But I still love it and think it's one of the best singles she's released in a hot tamale minute. Nu Mariah!) Akon- Lonely: D- (His voice grates after awhile.) The Killers- Mr. Brightside: C Bowling for Soup- Almost: C- Destiny's Child f/ T.I. & Lil Wayne- Soldier: C-(This song has no longevity, whatsoever. It's funny how you can love something one minute and find it forgettable and boring the next.) Trick Daddy f/ Cee-Lo & Ludacris or Lil' Kim- Sugar (Gimme Some): F (Trash.) Jet- Look What You've Done: A (Classically done.) Omarion- O: B (The track is blazing hot.) Jay-Z & Linkin Park- Numb/Encore: B+ Will Smith- Switch: C+ Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz f/ Usher & Ludacris- Lovers and Friends: C+ (It's aiight.) Howie Day- Collide: A+ (Brilliant song. Bring on Brace Yourself, please!) Jennifer L***z f/ Fat Joe- Hold You Down: C (It's growing on me, but it's such a terrible single choice that it's hard for me to forgive La L***z .) The Game f/ 50 Cent- Hate It or Love It: B+ (Would've been a solid A if Half Dollar wasn't all over it.) Gavin DeGraw- Chariot: D+ (zzzzzzz.... Can someone wake me up when it's over?) Papa Roach- Scars: C+ Tim McGraw- Live Like You Were Dying: B+ Snoop Dogg f/ Uncle Charlie Wilson & Justin Timberlake- Signs: A- (The perfect slice of pop-rap for CHR/Pop. It shouldn't have tanked.) Eminem- Like Toy Soldiers: B- Maroon 5- Sunday Morning: D (Their worst SONG and worst single. SO f**king sleep-inducing.) Avril Lavigne- Nobody's Home: A+ (This is my favorite Avril Lavigne song.) Snoop Dogg f/ Pharrell- Drop It Like It's Hot: A (Hated it for a long time, but now I can't get enough of it. It's one of my favorite tracks on his album.) John Legend- Ordinary People: C (I know I'm in the minority - trust me. But this is just not one of my favorites.) Trillville f/ Cutty- Some Cut: F (Horrible!) Eminem f/ Dr. Dre & 50 Cent- Encore: C+ Ludacris- Get Back: C+ (Mediocre for a Ludacris single, but it's still tight.) Nivea f/ Lil Jon & YoungBloodz- Okay: F Baby Bash- Baby I'm Back: D Mario- How Could You: A (LOVE IT!) Ashanti- Only U: B+(Yup, it's one of her most infectious singles.)
AC
Los Lonely Boys- Heaven: D- (This song is so annoying.) John Mayer- Daughters: C+ (Lucky John. It's funny when you win a Grammy for a song you didn't even want to be a single!) Maroon 5- She Will Be Loved: B Michael Bublé- Home: N/A Keith Urban- You'll Think of Me: N/A Martina McBride- In My Daughter's Eyes: N/A Hall & Oates- I'll Be Around: N/A Goo Goo Dolls- Give a Little Bit: B+ (Outstanding cover.) Maroon 5- This Love: A+ Hoobastank- The Reason: C+ Kenny G f/ Earth, Wind and Fire- The Way You Move: N/A Phil Collins- Don't Let Him Steal Your Heart Away: C Ryan Cabrera- True: A (One of the best pop songs of the year, IMO.) Five for Fighting- If God Made You: N/A Rod Stewart- Blue Moon: N/A Ray Charles f/ Diana Krall- You Don't Know Me: N/A Elton John- All That I'm Allowed: N/A Celine Dion- In Some Small Way: D (Predictably boring.) LOL, I thought you hated "Breakaway? Since when? It almost finished top 10 on my year-end chart of 2004.

Country (Since most of these will be "n/a" grades, I'll only grade the ones I've heard or am interested in.)
Craig Morgan- That's What I Love About Sunday: nfe (But it had nice sentiments and imagery to it.) Kenny Chesney- Anything But Mine: n/a Montgomery Gentry- Gone: n/a (self-imposed) Jo Dee Messina- My Give a Damn's Busted: F (This is like an "attitude" Shania Twain song, only it's so harsh that instead of "cute," it's "painfully obnoxious.") Toby Keith- Honkytonk U: nfe (But he's so full of himself that I don't remember it being favorable at all.) Lee Ann Womack- I May Hate Myself in the Morning: n/a Gretchen Wilson- Homewrecker: n/a Tim McGraw- Drugs or Jesus: n/a Trace Adkins- Songs About Me: B- (Though the story would never play out in real life.) Martina McBride- God's Will: C- (I sure wasn't expecting a painfully "clever" sapfest about a handicapped boy named Will.) Lonestar- Class Reunion (That Used to Be Us): n/a Phil Vassar- I'll Take That as a Yes (The Hot Tub Song): n/a (The title is intriguing.) Big & Rich- Big Time: n/a Shania Twain- Don't!: n/a Jamie O'Neal- Trying to Find Atlantis: nfe (It had some "cute" rhyme that I don't remember.) Alan Jackson- The Talkin' Song Repair Blues: n/a LeAnn Rimes- Probably Wouldn't Be This Way: n/a Cowboy Troy- I Play Chicken with the Train: n/a (The title is intriguing. I'm also curious how this showed up without going for adds.)
CHR/Rhythmic
Ying Yang Twins- Wait (The Whisper Song): n/a (I notice the subtitle was just added this week, so apparently there's some whispering in this song. I'm intrigued. I usually like or dislike YYT singles, with no middle ground.) Bobby Valentino- Slow Down: nfe T.I.- U Don't Know Me: B- Ludacris- Number One Spot: B- (Y'know, when he said he was gonna have some words for Bill O'Reilly on his last album, he didn't come through, in that, his responses still made him look like the ignorant rapper O'Reilly believes him to be. The little shout-out to O'Reilly in this song is included seemingly because it happens to fit the rhyme scheme. Sorry Luda, but you lost. I hate to admit it, but Bill won.) Brooke Valentine f/ Big Boi & Lil Jon- Girlfight: F (This is just ignorant crunk trash, albeit, well-produced, but still. And Big Boi's brief few bars add absolutely nothing.) Amerie- 1 Thing: C (This is Amerie's calculated attempt to break big like Beyoncé, with an obvious "Crazy in Love" rip-off. And Amerie happens to be one of the few black women I find gorgeous, but wearing the short shorts again takes away major credibility points.) T.I.- Bring Em Out: C Ciara f/ Ludacris- Oh: B (This could get a plus out of me. This is so much better than "1, 2 Step" and it sounds a little bit different than the first two singles, too.) Pitbull f/ Lil Jon- Toma: nfe (But it would be a C- or less.) Pretty Ricky- Grind With Me: n/a Fantasia- Truth Is: B (This also could get a plus out of me. I'm surprised how much I enjoy this. This and "Ordinary People" are the top 2 straight R&B singles I enjoy currently.) NB Ridaz f/ Angelina- Notice Me: n/a (What's the deal with these guys? I heard their big single from last year once or twice, but they only seem to hit the Rhythmic charts and I never see their videos on BET or anything.) Daddy Yankee- Gasolina: B Mariah Carey- We Belong Together: n/a Mike Jones f/ Slim Thug & Paul Wall- Still Tippin: B (This is another song that could get a plus from me. It's ridiculous how many words I've unintentionally learned to this song. The video looks really cool too, with that DJ spinning the chorus standing in the grass in front of that shed, with this lone scantily clad girl dancing next to his equipment. And also the cars slowly zig-zagging backwards down the closed-off street, at least one with the trunk lid open, displaying the production company's phone number in neon lights. These guys made one of the best hip hop videos so far this year on such a bare bones budget and I really admire that.) Tori Alamaze- Don't Cha: n/a 112- U Already Know: n/a (I saw the very end of its video on BET earlier this week, is all.) 50 Cent- Just a Lil' Bit: n/a Mashonda- Back of the Club: n/a Cassidy- I'm a Hustla: nfe (But this was so much better than the hits off his first record, those lame-ass sex/love jams.) K Young- Happy Together: n/a Fantasia- Baby Mama: n/a (I'll probably sharply dislike this, judging solely from its title.) Gwen Stefani- Hollaback Girl: D+ (And this is a Gwen Stefani collaboration with the Neptunes. Gwen Stefani and the Neptunes!) Ja Rule f/ Lloyd- Caught Up: nfe
Urban Faith Evans- Again: B- R. Kelly- (Sex) In the Kitchen: F (What the f**k is this!? "tomatoes," "potatoes," "buttered rolls," "fruits and vegetables," "tippy toes"...That's f**kin' garbage. I can't believe he wrote this, looked back, and said, "Yeah, that's a hit. I'ma go cut this one." My mind boggles at the stupidity of the lyrics and how he stretched out the concept of "having sex in a kitchen" into a whole song. Yuck!) Marques Houston- Because of You: nfe Tyra- Country Boy: D- (Tyra, you stupid broad. "South" does not equal "country." You talk about Atlanta and Miami. You don't want a f**kin' country boy, you want a "Dirty South" city boy. Oh yeah, and last time I checked, and I would know, St. Louis isn't the f**king South. It's the Mid-West, which you say you appreciate in addition to East and West Coast boys in the intro. And you probably didn't even write the song, but it's your fault for recording it, because you're the face that's put on it. I can't believe the incompetence.) Webbie f/ Bun B- Give Me That: n/a (Coming from Bun B and a recording artist who goes by "Webbie," I can't believe the spelling is actually 100% correct.) Tweet f/ Missy Elliott- Turn Da Lights Off: B (This doesn't deserve to be bombing.) Lyfe Jennings- Must Be Nice: nfe Destiny's Child- Cater 2 U: n/a Lil Jon f/ Ice Cube- Real N*gga Roll Call: B+ (Yeah, Ice Cube's way out of his element trying to sound hard in 2004/5, but this is such a hardass song.) Boyz in Da Hood- Dem Boyz: n/a (I guess it was only a matter of time before a rap act ganked the movie title for their name.) Twista f/ Faith Evans- Hope: C (Kinda boring) Gucci Mane- Icy: n/a (And I'm reluctant to hear it, given the name of the artist and song title.) N2U f/ Jermaine Dupri- Baby Mama Love: n/a (This is likely trash.) Fabolous f/ Mike Shorey- Baby: C (After "Breathe" was so redeemingly good, how could this be right back to the blandness he went through?) Urban Mystic- Long Ways: n/a Fat Joe- So Much More: B (Capable of a plus. This and the generous portion of the other song in the video are so much better than "Lean Back" and any other single he's ever put out, quite frankly. I'm impressed.) Nas f/ Quan- Just a Moment: B (How come Nas has notoriously struggled to get genuine hits?) Mannie Fresh f/ Tateeze- Conversations: nfe (But it was a C or less, from memory.)
Urban AC (Most of these are "n/a," but I'll list the ones I'm at least mildly interested in hearing.)
Brian McKnight- Everytime You Go Away: n/a (This isn't a remake of the Paul Young '80's hit, whose chorus I'm only familiar with from the compilations advertised in the early to mid '90's, is it?) Jill Scott- Whatever: nfe Stevie Wonder- So What the Fuss: n/a Gerald Levert- So What (If You Got a Baby): n/a Anita Baker- How Does It Feel?: n/a Luther Vandross- Think About You: n/a Alicia Keys f/ Tony! Toni! Toné! & Jermaine Paul- Diary: C Prince- Call My Name: B+ Mint Condition- I'm Ready: n/a Earth, Wind and Fire f/ Raphael Saadiq- Show Me the Way: n/a Al Green- Perfect to Me: n/a Angie Stone f/ Anthony Hamilton- Stay for Awhile: n/a Kool & the Gang f/ Blackstreet- No Show '05: n/a Ruben Studdard f/ Mary Mary- Ain't No Need to Worry: n/a
And that about wraps 'er all up.

"What You Waiting For" was just as deserving of top 5 status in my book. I think it was worthy moreso, which is why I think "Rich Girl" is a Top 5 smash and is having such legs due to some payola help. If you beat people over the head with something for long enough, usually they come around. Only in this case, not so much, personally. In fact I probably like it less, out of spite. I think that's what it is for me too. That's also the reason I enjoy "Let Me Love You" fine, but clearly that doesn't apply in your case.

Ciara f/ Missy Elliott- 1, 2 Step: B+ (I personally think this song was ten times better than that wack ass first single with the Freek-A-Leek instrumental. I'm talking about you, Goodies.)Just because they're both Lil Jon-produced tracks with Petey deleted on them doesn't mean they're Xeroxes. The whistling synth of "Goodies" and it's guitar line give it a much different feel than the bouncing, melodically-climbing rhythm of "Freek-A-Leek." "Goodies" is the superior production and superior song, in my opinion.

Alternative
Audioslave- Be Yourself: B Green Day- Holiday: A+ Beck- E-Pro: A- Queens of the Stone Age- Little Sister: A (The guitar solo kicks ass and I'm glad it ends that way.) Nine Inch Nails- The Hand That Feeds: A+ (I don't think that Reznor is capable of dissapointing me to a very big extent. The Fragile was amazing and I didn't want my expectations too high. This wouldn't have damaged it at all. It's damn catchy and who cares if it's mainstream when it sounds so good. While less dancy than stuff in the past, it's structured enough, in spite of its short length. Oh, the song is THAT good.) The Mars Volta- The Widow (I'll Never Sleep Alone): A Breaking Benjamin- Sooner or Later: B+ Jimmy Eat World- Work: B+ Garbage- Why Do You Love Me: B+ (It may go up 1/3 of a grade. The song samples the chorus of Martika's "Toy Soldiers" So you guys couldn't see he was being obviously sarcastic? (At least I thought he was; my apologies if he wasn't.)

I like your comments, Angela, but....
"Natalie- Goin' Crazy: C- (It's average; I like it.)"
I wouldn't give a song I like a "C-" I gave this song a similar grade as you did, but I rather dislike it.
"Keane- Somewhere Only We Know: B+ (I love this song.)"
I wouldn't give a song I love just a B+. In fact I gave this song an A+.

LOL. I'm just weird. I have several different levels of "like" and "love." Now that I think about it, I would actually give this song an A+ overall. I think I just gave it a B+ because I'm a little worn out of it. I played it so much that the love isn't as strong as it was from the beginning. So even though I adore it, the effect it had on me isn't the same. :)

This will not be falling onto page two without my contributions. Which will come before too long.

I was thinking that since everyone's posting their personal chart histories and some potential posters haven't contributed yet, that hopefully a moderator will give this one a sticky.
