CHR/Pop
Kelly Clarkson- Since U Been Gone: F- (Why can't this be gone. And why is it #1 on multiple formats.) Green Day- Boulevard of Broken Dreams: B- (Of course people call this overrated. Look at all the previous grades. I'm breaking the streak by one and one third grades and I still think I'm being generous.) Usher- Caught Up: C- Frankie J f/ Baby Bash- Obsession (No Es Amor): D- Gwen Stefani f/ Eve- Rich Girl: F Ciara f/ Missy Elliott- 1, 2 Step: F- (After "Goodies" I was willing to forget that she ever existed; she's really pressing her luck) 50 Cent f/ Olivia- Candy Shop: F- Natalie- Goin' Crazy: B- 50 Cent- Disco Inferno: F- (you're really pushing it, too.) Mario- Let Me Love You: D+ (All of his singles so far can probably be sewn together & you won't be able to tell the difference. This wouldn't be such a problem if they weren't so painfully bland and borderline pretentious.) Eminem- Mockingbird: F- (Okay, I officially hate this now. And now incl. Gwen Stefani, why the assault on harmless tunes from my childhood?) Alicia Keys- Karma: C- (Now that I know Karmastition's just a remix, she hasn't quite lost that final ounce of credibility, yet, & it's infinitely more tolerable but still nowhere near good.) Rob Thomas- Lonely No More: C+ Jesse McCartney- Beautiful Soul: D- The Game f/ 50 Cent- How We Do: F Gavin DeGraw- I Don't Wanna Be: C+ 3 Doors Down- Let Me Go: B (Not really less generic than their previous shite but for some reason I like it better.) Mariah Carey f/ Jermaine Dupri & Fatman Scoop- It's Like That: F- (Not really sure why she's having hits now, it's not like this is less moronic than Loverboy) Akon- Lonely: C- (Saved & ruined at the same time.) The Killers- Mr. Brightside: A[/color] Bowling for Soup- Almost: D- Destiny's Child f/ T.I. & Lil Wayne- Soldier: F- (Why is this not gone yet! Bah!) Trick Daddy f/ Cee-Lo & Ludacris or Lil' Kim- Sugar (Gimme Some): nh/dwt Jet- Look What You've Done: B Omarion- O: F- Jay-Z & Linkin Park- Numb/Encore: C- (Now why is THIS not gone yet.) Will Smith- Switch: nh/dwt Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz f/ Usher & Ludacris- Lovers and Friends: D- Howie Day- Collide: A- (LOL... and this first went for adds like what, 8 months ago?) Jennifer Lopez f/ Fat Joe- Hold You Down: nh/dwt The Game f/ 50 Cent- Hate It or Love It: nh/dwt Gavin DeGraw- Chariot: B (for now, but expect it to go down if it's shoved down our throats as much as he doesn't want to be was) Papa Roach- Scars: nh/dwt Tim McGraw- Live Like You Were Dying: D- Snoop Dogg f/ Uncle Charlie Wilson & Justin Timberlake- Signs: F+ Keane- Somewhere Only We Know: C+ Crossfade- Cold: B- Destiny's Child- Girl: nh yet, but inevitably F- Eminem- Like Toy Soldiers: F+ Maroon 5- Sunday Morning: B Avril Lavigne- Nobody's Home: C+ Snoop Dogg f/ Pharrell- Drop It Like It's Hot: C+ (Still growing on me) John Legend- Ordinary People: nh/dr Trillville f/ Cutty- Some Cut: nh/dwt (Cutty? WTF name is that?) Eminem f/ Dr. Dre & 50 Cent- Encore: B- Ludacris- Get Back: D Nivea f/ Lil Jon & YoungBloodz- Okay: nh/dr Baby Bash- Baby I'm Back: nh/dr Mario- How Could You: D+ Ashanti- Only U: nh/dr

Los Lonely Boys- Heaven: B- John Mayer- Daughters: F- (Blame the record company all you want but you can only blame him on its existence) Maroon 5- She Will Be Loved: F- Michael Bublé- Home: nh/dr Keith Urban- You'll Think of Me: nh/dr Martina McBride- In My Daughter's Eyes: D+ Hall & Oates- I'll Be Around: nh/dr Goo Goo Dolls- Give a Little Bit: B- (Hey, I've seen you before...) Maroon 5- This Love: A- (And you...) Hoobastank- The Reason: F- (And you...) Kenny G f/ Earth, Wind and Fire- The Way You Move: B Phil Collins- Don't Let Him Steal Your Heart Away: C- (After all these years, just as capable of cheez as ever) Ryan Cabrera- True: F MercyMe- Homesick: nh/dwt Tina Turner- Open Arms: B Scott Grimes- Sunset Blvd.: nh/dr Vanessa Williams- You Are Everything: nh/dr Five for Fighting- If God Made You: B+ (Whoa, this is actually on here?) Rod Stewart- Blue Moon: nh/dr Ray Charles f/ Diana Krall- You Don't Know Me: B- (kind of disappointed though, I would have expected better from these two) Elton John- All That I'm Allowed: A- (I should get around to charting this) Celine Dion- In Some Small Way: nh/dr Rascal Flatts- Bless the Broken Road: nh/dr Finger Eleven- One Thing: B (Now why is this, here.) Hot AC[/u] Kelly Clarkson- Breakaway: B+ Lifehouse- You and Me: B+ (I can't imagine the rest of their album being any good though) Anna Nalick- Breathe (2 am): C+ (Good effort somewhat ruined by talking about writing the song during the last verse. Only attempt when desperate for ideas; serious no-no for a first single.) Hot A.C.
Kelly Clarkson- Breakaway: C+ Lifehouse- You and Me: B Anna Nalick- Breathe (2 am): n/a Duran Duran- What Happens Tomorrow: n/a U2- Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own: B+ Nelly f/ Tim McGraw- Over and Over: C- Aslyn- Be the Girl: n/a Jack Johnson- Sitting, Waiting, Wishing: n/a (hard to believe though that this is so close to becoming his highest peaking Alternative hit. I've heard it twice as of today.) Joss Stone- Right to Be Wrong: n/a Velvet Revolver- Fall to Pieces: C+ Jem- 24: n/a Collective Soul- Better Now: n/a Dave Matthews Band- American Baby: n/a Ingram Hill- Almost Perfect: n/a Black Eyed Peas- Let's Get It Started: D (what the f**k.) Better Than Ezra- A Lifetime: n/a Carbon Leaf- Life Less Ordinary: n/a Avion- Beautiful: n/a The Afters- Beautiful Love: n/a Simple Plan- Welcome to My Life: D Switchfoot- This Is Your Life: n/a (though I remember this as being less interesting than their non-interesting first two hits.)
Alternative[/u]
Audioslave- Be Yourself: B Green Day- Holiday: A Beck- E-Pro: B Queens of the Stone Age- Little Sister: A- Nine Inch Nails- The Hand That Feeds: A The Mars Volta- The Widow (I'll Never Sleep Alone): A+ (I have no idea where the "I'll Never Sleep Alone" part came into play; it isn't on the album cover, but it is on Medibase and R and R.) Breaking Benjamin- Sooner or Later: B Jimmy Eat World- Work: B+ Garbage- Why Do You Love Me: A- Chevelle- The Clincher: n/a (I've heard it a couple times and I remember liking it much more than "Vitamin R". The radio around here can't be convinced to add Chevelle songs in a timely fashion.) Weezer- Beverly Hills: B (I love how the second point made about hollywood stars is that "the housemaids scrub the floors and get all the spaces in between".) Crossfade- So Far Away: B Three Days Grace- Home: B- (this doesn't change the grade any, but the part that says "you turn off the TV, and you scream at me"...come on now. No confrontation happens that way.) The Exies- Ugly: C- Mudvayne- Happy?: A A Perfect Circle- Passive: A Trust Company- Stronger: B Interpol- Evil: B Z-Trip f/ Chester Bennington- Walking Dead: B+ Unwritten Law- Save Me: C Kings of Leon- The Bucket: B (and what's the deal with "Molly's Chambers" being featured in those Volkwagen commercials? Seems like an odd, random choice for a car commercial song. Same with "Club Foot" being placed in Pontiac commercials at about the instant it fell out of the top 50.) System of a Down- B.Y.O.B.: A- The Killers- Smile Like You Mean It: n/a The Bravery- An Honest Mistake: A Louis XIV- Finding Out True Love Is Blind: B+ No Address- When I'm Gone (Sadie): C My Chemical Romance- Helena: A Hot Hot Heat- Goodnight Goodnight: B+ Sum 41- Pieces: B+ Shinedown- Burning Bright: C+ The Kaiser Chiefs- I Predict a Riot: n/a Acceptance- Different: B (I like the song so far, but this just seems to have this vibe that reminds me of Train, which isn't cool. Hopefully other songs of theirs can put an end to that, if this one doesn't.) Slipknot- Before I Forget: n/a Pepper- Give It Up: n/a Theory of a Deadman- No Surprise F[/b] (the song is sickeningly bad, but I also feel it needs to be mentioned that Tyler Connelly is the worst vocalist I can think of from current modern rock music.) Snow Patrol- Chocolate: B+ Tegan and Sara- Walking with a Ghost: C+ The Caesars- Jerk It Out: n/a Korn- Another Brick in the Wall: C+ Rise Against- Give It All: A Velvet Revolver- Dirty Little Thing: A Modest Mouse- The World at Large: n/a

The Mars Volta- The Widow (I'll Never Sleep Alone): A+ (I have no idea where the "I'll Never Sleep Alone" part came into play; it isn't on the album cover, but it is on Medibase and R and R.)Three Days Grace- Home: B- (this doesn't change the grade any, but the part that says "you turn off the TV, and you scream at me"...come on now. No confrontation happens that way.)I guess radio stations added that parenthetical phrase to help listeners know which song it is. Same thing happened with Sponge "Molly (Sixteen Candles)," Sugar Ray "Falls Apart (Runaway)," Shawn Mullins "Lullaby (Rock-a-bye)," Hootie & the Blowfish "Old Man and Me (When I Get to Heaven)," Everclear "Santa Monica (Watch the World Die)," etc. Record companies are kind of forced (convinced?) to do this for singles sometimes. It's worth noting though, that "I'll Never Sleep Alone" is the missing line for that song in the lyric book that is pulled out and highlighted. Regarding 3DG, yeah, the lyrics are generic as hell, but I can't deny that song 'cuz it has hooks out the ass. I particularly like when that line comes around because dude's voice does a cool, quavery build-up right there before screaming the "scream at me" line. I sing along in the car just to practice, but the scream is out of my range. Also, you'd think somehow the guy's name would've been something I'd picked up over the last 2 years(!), but that just goes to show what a "faceless" band they are and how the media has so little interest in them, despite having 3 huge sleeper singles that carried their debut album for two years now. BTW, when are the other genres coming and why did you start with Hot AC and Alternative? Just to be able to grade Alternative first?

Whoops, I graded Pop and A.C. last week, but didn't want to post them until I had the others graded. Totally forgot to post them.
But before I do that, about "Home", I enjoy their songs for the very same reason that you do, except that I'd rank that song lowest of the four that I've heard (including "Wake Up", an exclusively Canadian hit). For no reason other than that the hooks sound better on the other songs.
Well, here's the rest. I'll probably add in whatever I know from the remaining formats, eventually.
CHR/Pop
Kelly Clarkson- Since U Been Gone: B- (but it pissed me off when I heard a sweeper for my pop station (which is probably used on a 1000 other Clear Channel outlets), which said "92.5 Kiss FM...your home for the best mix of pop [clip of "True"], hip-hop [clip of "Soldier"], and rock [clip of "Since U Been Gone"]". F*ck whoever thought of that combination of music. I hope she got a DUI on the way home from recording it.) Green Day- Boulevard of Broken Dreams: A Usher- Caught Up: B- (none of his singles have been considerably strong since "Yeah!".) Frankie J f/ Baby Bash- Obsession (No Es Amor): B+ Gwen Stefani f/ Eve- Rich Girl: F (It's catchy in a horrible way, and the chorus was probably inspired by reading kindergartners' attempts at poetry hanging in the hallway in their school.) Ciara f/ Missy Elliott- 1, 2 Step: F 50 Cent f/ Olivia- Candy Shop: F Natalie- Goin' Crazy: C+ 50 Cent- Disco Inferno: B+ Mario- Let Me Love You: B Eminem- Mockingbird: C- Alicia Keys- Karma: d/r Rob Thomas- Lonely No More: D (I guess Rob must have heard The Backstreet Boys were about to make a comeback attempt, so he tried to make a song that sounds exactly like something they'd do.) Jesse McCartney- Beautiful Soul: D The Game f/ 50 Cent- How We Do: B Gavin DeGraw- I Don't Wanna Be: B+ 3 Doors Down- Let Me Go: B Mariah Carey f/ Jermaine Dupri & Fatman Scoop- It's Like That: F (yeah, this is just as garbage as "Loverboy", I not only don't see what the big deal is; I don't see why anyone thinks this is even listenable at all.) Akon- Lonely: F (It wasn't cool when Twista did it a year ago, either.) The Killers- Mr. Brightside: A- Bowling for Soup- Almost: B Destiny's Child f/ T.I. & Lil Wayne- Soldier: F (pretty much self-explanatory by now.) Trick Daddy f/ Cee-Lo & Ludacris or Lil' Kim- Sugar (Gimme Some): C+ Jet- Look What You've Done: B- Omarion- O: n/a Jay-Z & Linkin Park- Numb/Encore: C Will Smith- Switch: C+ Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz f/ Usher & Ludacris- Lovers and Friends: C- Howie Day- Collide: n/a Jennifer Lopez f/ Fat Joe- Hold You Down: n/a The Game f/ 50 Cent- Hate It or Love It: n/a Gavin DeGraw- Chariot: n/a Papa Roach- Scars: B- Tim McGraw- Live Like You Were Dying: n/a Snoop Dogg f/ Uncle Charlie Wilson & Justin Timberlake- Signs: n/a Keane- Somewhere Only We Know: B+ Crossfade- Cold: B Destiny's Child- Girl: n/a Eminem- Like Toy Soldiers: d/r Maroon 5- Sunday Morning: n/a Avril Lavigne- Nobody's Home: B Snoop Dogg f/ Pharrell- Drop It Like It's Hot: A John Legend- Ordinary People: n/a Trillville f/ Cutty- Some Cut: n/a (but if that's really a title named after the guest artist in the song, I've got a baseball ready to fire at the heads of whoever was responsible for such a deplorable decision.) Eminem f/ Dr. Dre & 50 Cent- Encore: A- (so far. The album pretty much sucks compared to what Eminem is capable of, so I won't be buying that, and there's too many current F's right now to take a chance at hearing this one a little more.) Ludacris- Get Back: n/a (although he hasn't made a memorable song in a long time.) Nivea f/ Lil Jon & YoungBloodz- Okay: na/not sure (although if this is what I think it is, it's a derisively hilarious B+.) Baby Bash- Baby I'm Back: n/a Mario- How Could You: n/a Ashanti- Only U: A-
AC[/u]
Los Lonely Boys- Heaven: B+ John Mayer- Daughters: D- Maroon 5- She Will Be Loved: B- Michael Bublé- Home: n/a Keith Urban- You'll Think of Me: n/a Martina McBride- In My Daughter's Eyes: n/a Hall & Oates- I'll Be Around: n/a Goo Goo Dolls- Give a Little Bit: B- Maroon 5- This Love: A- Hoobastank- The Reason: B+ Kenny G f/ Earth, Wind and Fire- The Way You Move: n/a Phil Collins- Don't Let Him Steal Your Heart Away: n/a Ryan Cabrera- True: C- MercyMe- Homesick: n/a Tina Turner- Open Arms: n/a Scott Grimes- Sunset Blvd.: n/a Vanessa Williams- You Are Everything: n/a Five for Fighting- If God Made You: n/a Rod Stewart- Blue Moon: n/a Ray Charles f/ Diana Crawl- You Don't Know Me: n/a Elton John- All That I'm Allowed: n/a Celine Dion- In Some Small Way: n/a Rascal Flatts- Bless the Broken Road: n/a Finger Eleven- One Thing: B Joe Cocker- One: n/a

Songs I can grade now: Jennifer Lopez f/ Fat Joe- Hold You Down: B- Destiny's Child- Girl: B- Jack Johnson- Sitting, Waiting, Wishing: B- Ying Yang Twins- Wait (The Whisper Song): D- (One step away from an F, painfully because the track is so sparse and the whispering is a total left turn from the usual. Unfortunately the lyrics are degenerate, low-brow trash. When are women gonna put a stop to rappers saying they'll "beat the pussy up"? Do these guys not have mothers, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, nieces?) Cassidy- I'm a Hustla: B Gucci Mane- Icy: B- (Considering the name and song title, it pains me to admit this is catchy.)

*tugs at collar* So I totally stuck my foot in my mouth regarding Ludacris' latest comment on Bill O'Reilly. If I'd actually listened closely enough to the lines that follow, he's actually blasting Bill for his sex scandal that came to light. Brilliant! Now Luda wins. :)
Other songs I can grade now: Craig Morgan- That's What I Love About Sunday: B- Kenny Chesney- Anything But Mine: B- Big & Rich- Big Time: B Cowboy Troy- I Play Chicken with the Train: B (A black cowboy rapper backed up by Big & Rich? Brilliant!) Bobby Valentino- Slow Down: C+ (The music's cool enough, but the lyrics are pretty crappy.) 50 Cent- Just a Lil' Bit: F (I saw/heard this this morning and this is just trash. Worst single yet. God, why did the new record top the charts for 6 weeks? I'll laugh at anyone who bought/buys that album.
