Preferably list artists who aren't planning on it. Saying Janet Jackson or Tweet is just kind of a waste.

Carl Thomas Kelly Price Faith Evans Brandy Foxy Brown Toni Braxton Anita Baker Patti LaBelle Maxwell Good news is that Carl Thomas and Faith Evans are definitely releasing new albums next year. Toni Braxton and Brandy are very likely since they've been working on material in 2003. Foxy Brown is still without a label I think, so we'll see what happens there. Patti Labelle is almost certain to release an album as well. She's on Def Soul, I think. Anita Baker... well she's just been talking forever to do anything. I agree that she needs to come back. She's basically fallen of my music radar though. She's just sort of disappeared.

Angie Stone Bobby Brown D'Angelo Dr. Dre Jill Scott Jodeci [They've said they're coming back in 2004 for a couple of years now, but who knows.] Jody Watley [Her last album was released in Japan almost three years ago. Even though it was just released this year in the US, I'm eager for more from her.] Judy Torres Keith Sweat [He needs another solo album. The last LSG project was disaster.] Lenny Kravitz Lisa Loeb New Edition Paula Abdul [Even if it's just a dance album or something like Kylie's "Spinning Around" (since she wrote it)... she could send it to the clubs.] Prince [How about a proper album this time? No instrumental garbage.] Regina Belle ["Ooh Boy" from her last album about two years ago was great.] Rockell [She's been releasing singles from her 2000 album for 3 years. Time to move on.] Sade SWV [Stop the talk and just release the damn thing. Atleast they're not broken up like En Vogue.] Tina Arena [It's been awhile since her last album and "Never" was amazing this year. How about a proper album?] Toad The Wet Sprocket [Someone posted that they got back together and were doing live touring.] Total [They have a new line-up though.] Vanessa Williams [Even if it's some AC fluff, I want to hear her voice on some new material again.]

Didn't Foxy Brown just put out a cd? She had a small hit this year with "I Need A Man".

Didn't Foxy Brown just put out a cd? She had a small hit this year with "I Need A Man". Def Jam refused to release "The Fever". Foxy had to fight to get out of the deal because they wanted her on the label but would not release any of her material. Technically she could fight that due to the "Teena Marie Law".

Could you fill me in on this law? I have never heard of it. In the early 80's, Teena Marie was trying to get out of her deal with Motown. She was recording material, but they were refusing to release it. They basically just wanted to keep her on the label, but not have to spend any money on her. This startted the "Teena Marie Law" meaning a label cannot legally keep an artist contractually bound while refusing to release his or her material.

Def Jam refused to release "The Fever". Foxy had to fight to get out of the deal because they wanted her on the label but would not release any of her material. Technically she could fight that due to the "Teena Marie Law". Most contracts have a time length, say six months, from the time the artist delivers the album to the label within which to release it. If they choose not to release it, generally the artist is free to leave. Why would they want her on the label, but not want to release anything? There's no reason why she should force them to release it. If she pressured them, they could just throw it out with absolutely no support behind it and it would die quickly. She'd be better off just going to another label. Def Jam president, Kevin Liles, spoke to one of my classes recently and mentioned her departure.

The Corrs
All of their fans (or what's left of them anyway) have been waiting patiently (or impatiently in some people's cases) for this long-awaited fourth studio album. They said it was going to come out on October of 2003 but that didn't happen. Now word is that it's going to come out on March 2004. That's straight from Andrea Corr's mouth. Here's hoping this actually happens and the album doesn't get delayed again.

I love seeing her on Entertainment Weekly's "new music for next year" list or whatever for 2 years in a row. :) I'm not too ticked with The Corrs. They aren't the type of band who makes an album every single year; there was a big gap from "Talk on Corners" and "In Blue." Didn't they just release a VH1 live album this year? I'll list Billie Piper but I know she probably won't do it.

Mandy Moore - needs desperately to follow up "Coverage" and will hopefully have some movies out next year too. She needs a hit single this time as well. She has a decent amount of respect from critics and a sizeable fan base, it's time for new material!

I would love to see Paula Abdul make a comeback. But she'd have to do good on pop. Now that shes back in the light with American Idol, this would be the perfect timing.

Goo Goo Dolls Lifehouse Natalie Imbruglia Seven & The Sun The Calling Jimmy Eat World Enya Creed Our Lady Peace When is the Alanis album coming out, it seems like it's always changing. Later in the year 3 Doors Down & All-American Rejects should put out a new album.

She has a decent amount of respect from critics and a sizeable fan base, it's time for new material! What a demanding fan! (j/k) She just poured her heart and soul in an album that came out last month! Mandy has to rest and take a vacation.
