The reason I'm posting this is which of today's stars of hip-hop are the most articulate in your opinion? The one artist that came to mind was Ludicris and sometimes 50 Cent (who I'm not a big fan of). Any others?

Eminem.
50 Cent sounds very garbled sometimes. Nelly's voice is annoying.

LL Cool J (I'll consider him current since he's still putting out albums).
All time - Chuck D
Most rappers cannot speak English to save their lives.

Are we talking about rappers whose songs we can understand, or those who speak very good English in interviews and stuff?

Queen Latifah is very articulate if we can include her. Dre from Outkast is quite articulate as well.

Are we talking about rappers whose songs we can understand, or those who speak very good English in interviews and stuff? All of the above. I will go old school on you for a second and then some current ones: Old school: Heavy D Queen Latifah MC Lyte Salt-N-Pepa Naughty By Nature LL Cool J Grandmaster Flash Kurtis Blow Doug E. Fresh Geto Boys New breeds; Ludicris Eminem Angie Martinez Snoop Dogg Jay-Z (?) The Roots Okay so some of them above the "new breeds" have staying power and others dissapeared from the radar.

Ol Dirty Bastard AIN"T
Especially his new stuff. His song on "Clones", you can't understand a word he's saying. He's mumbling.

I'm going with like, Baby Bash or something. But he's not a great rapper, you don't have to be articulate to be good. Sarai is pretty articulate too, along with Eminem.
The most articulate person ever, not just rappers, is the lead singer from Live. It gets really annoying, especially in "Lightning Crashes."

Most articulate when rapping would have to be LL Cool J. I don't think I've ever encountered a lyric in his songs which I couldn't understand. In other situations (ie in intervews and stuff) maybe Eminem or Jay-Z.

In my eyes, Nas is the most articulate of rappers in the music industry. He is well versed during interviews and also lyrically through his music.
Will Smith, LL Cool J, Common, and Queen Latifah are other rappers who are quite articulate both with speech and in their music.

i agree with alot of the names already mentioned:
LL Cool J Queen Latifah Eminem Common Lisa Lopez
some not mentioned: Wyclef Jean Sir Mix Alot Young MC Lil Kim (if you can count her. you can understand what she is saying when she gives interviews she just doesn't sound smart)

Eminem is quite articulate for today's rappers. LL Cool J and Will Smith are also pretty good, but Young MC might be the best. Or maybe the Sugar Hill Gang. In the early days, rapping was an art which required great articulation. You had to articulate very quickly and clearly. No longer. Many today are slow and slur their words.
You mean you don't like the way he spits out "pale" in "pale blue colored iris" I consider this song one of the best rock ballads of all-time.
