What are some good themes?? Remember that the least songs that ever have to be sung is about 6, and at times its as much as 12. So don't pick one TOO specific.
I really want a "Quiet Storm" theme!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to see a "Current Hits" topic to see if they are capable of fitting in with pop radio.
Keep motown, songs from movies, 70's, and 80's.
Don't do Big Band!!! That sounds nothing like what the winner will sing.

Anything that doesn't suck to the human ear At first I thought it read "Anything that doesn't suck the human ear." Get my mind out of the gutter.

The 70s and 80s are good but I think they should specificy more, as in instead of just "70s", say "Disco". same for 80s. Yeah, Big band is fun but kinda irrelevant. I dont think they could do current hits, it'd be expensive and people would be even more biased in their voting.

they did do that, it was decent... not one of the best themes but not one of the worst. i really wanted someone to do "for you i will"
they wont do it two years in a row, though.

A gospel theme would never happen! That's not freedom of religion.

I wish they'd do something like the biggest hits from each year kind of thing. Like one week they sing the biggest hits of 1998. I also like the current hits idea.

Yes, I'm especially tired of hearing all of those emotional songs like "Wind Beneath My Wings" and songs about hero's, I agree with Simon about singing "safe" songs.

I also would like to see these THEMES:
The songs of BABYFACE: He has so many songs that can be performed.
Aretha Franklin: Although I don't like her per se, she has a plethera of song in MANY genres that would make GREAT performances.
The ARTISTS of Clive Davis: He has launched or put fire into the careers of Whitney Houston, Carlos Santana, Annie Lennox, Monica, Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Phyliss Hyman, Angel Bofill, Deborah Cox,Rod Stewart, and countless others.

The songs of BABYFACE: He has so many songs that can be performed. That would be a good one. He's written some great stuff. Disagree here. Her voice is too powerful. Most contestants would butcher her songs. Another good one. Plus since he's involved with the winner's record he could be a guest judge. An honest one too.

Each other's self-penned songs! Sort of like that Hollywood round, but more polished! And a twist...you have to sing someone else's song! Ay, caramba.
