Ah, I see. Yeah, sometimes i do that too.
And the intros to "Shadow" and "The Voice Within" do sound much alike.

Do you have to know the title and artists of songs to add them to the list?
I heard a song this morning where the lines "I'm coming on home..." were repeated near the end of the song...reminiscent of "come on home" being repeated at the end of "Bright Lights".
Also, I heard a song recently with pianos sounding like the intro of Train "Ordinary"
"I Just Wanna Live" and "Hole In The Head" "Accidentally in Love" and "Someday We'll Know"

I found another one:
Coldplay's Yellow - very beginning instrumental portion at 10 seconds in.
sounds very much like
Fountains of Wayne - All Kinds of Time - the instrumental at the end of the song at 3 minute mark.
I put both these songs back to back in a playlist and was shocked that they both sounded so much alike.

no, it wasn't CTMW, it was an alternative/rock song.
From AT20 today...first time I listened to AT20 in under two years:
"Somebody Told Me" and "Take Me Home Tonight" "Collide" and "Fly Like an Eagle"

Okay I figured it out..the song that sounds reminiscent of "Bright Lights" is is Silvertide "Ain't Coming Home". The lyrics are "I ain't coming home" not "I'm coming on home"

The intros to "Love Will Find A Way" by deleted Cruise and "Hot Blooded" by Foreigner are almost identical. Both were big top ten hits around the same time in 1978, which added to the confusion.

Same chord progressions: "Reach for the Sky" Social Distortion (chorus, but at half speed) "On the Way Down" Ryan Cabrera (outro) "All You Wanted" Michelle Branch (outro)
"Numb" Linkin Park "Deanne the Arsonist" Atreyu (intro) "Lip Gloss and Black" Atreyu (piano outro)
Same piano melody: "Lovers and Friends" Lil Jon f/ Usher & Ludacris "Anytime You Need a Friend" Mariah Carey
Also: "I Just Wanna Live" by Good Charlotte jacks the chorus guitar riff from Bananarama's "Cruel Summer" and lyrically tips the cap to second-wave British ska band the Specials' "Rudi, a Message to You" ("Stop your messin' around boy, better think of your future.")

Remember Gloria Loring & Carl Anderson's only Top 40 hit "Friends & Lovers"? Well, I just thought of two songs that sound like it. Coincidentally, these songs were out at pretty much the same time. Several parts of Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam's disappointing chart single (came nowhere near the Top 40, IIRC) "Someone To Love Me For Me" remind me of FAL, as does "I Live For Your Love" by Natalie Cole. It has the same rhythm as the choruses of FAL.

Matchbox Twenty's monumental AC hit "If You're Gone" sounds a little like "She's So High" by Tal Bachman. In fact, I woke up to "If You're Gone" this morning and, in my half-asleep state, I thought it was "She's So High". When the lyrics started, I realized that it wasn't.

Back around the beginning of 1983, when the songs "Caught Up In You" by 38 Special and "Urgent" by Foreigner were being played as recurrents on the radio stations that I listened to, I thought that the guitar intros sounded somewhat alike. I never knew which song it was until the vocals began. After awhile, however, I began to be able to differentiate the two.

Vanessa Williams or Amy Grant - Oh How The Years Go By is very similar to Sarah McLachlan - I Will Remember You
and, probably the most blatant one in recent memory
Simple Plan - Welcome to My Life, has pretty much the same exact chorus as Lillix - It's About Time

The intro to "Nobody's Home" sounds like the intro to "Here's To The Night".

Ashlee Simpson "Love Makes The World Go Round" & Jimmy Eat World "The Middle"
Just the verses. I read this somewhere else, and the similarity is uncanny.

Deborah Cox "Like I Did" and Brandy's "I Thought".
Whitney Houston's "If I Told You That" and Jennifer Lopez "If You Had My Love"
Usher "Yeah!" and No Doubt "Hella Good" (if Yeah! had a bassline, that song's bassline would be it).
