Let's discuss the boy band mantatlity that's come over the music industry. BB Mantality is when artists are pitted against each other for competition. In the 80's and 90's artists would be taking turns at #1/Top 10. Downloads seem to be changing things to some degree. I'm a firm believer in all popular artists can coexist. hmmmmm.... *thinks*

Well, I notice Janet fans and Beyonce fans and the Xtina Fans and the Britney fans and the Madonna fans....all seem to be going back and forth with each other. Most recently Janet was involved because JD "supposedly" said some mean things about Beyonce, Britney, Xtina and others. Contact Music has a history of rumors but hmmm. I miss the days of when I could like more than one artist and it didn't become a hate fest.

I don't understand the need for any of these fueds between fans. Why can't people just like what they like and leave it at that? There's nothing wrong with liking music by both Britney and Christina, Beyonce and Janet, or whoever else.

Simple as that, really. Want examples? Here are some. - The Beatles vs The Stones
- David Bowie vs Marc Bolan
- Sex Pistols vs The Clash
- Madonna vs Cyndi Lauper
- Duran Duran vs Spandau Ballet
- The Stone Roses vs Happy Mondays
- Nas vs Jay-Z
- MC Hammer vs Vanilla Ice (erm, yeah...)
- Blur vs Oasis
- Guns N' Roses vs Mötley Crüe
- Nirvana vs Pearl Jam
- Korn vs Limp Bizkit

I think the 'boy band mentality' is basically the whole fan wars between Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC. I remember that shit...people were trying to get their faves the first week sales, you couldn't like both at once, it was a whole bunch of crap. I'm sure the labels loved it b/c the sales were huge...but now you have the fights (with the divas and stuff) without the big sales.

I thought "mantality" was a pun and this thread was about Lance. Again.
