I cannot bear Beyonce wailing away at the end of "Check On it". The part right before she sings "so sexy boy". It is excruciatingly awful. Makes me want to scream every time I hear it. Sorry honey, but you're no Aretha.
What are your most excruciating moments in a hit song?

Justin yelling "you ready?" all high pitched a bunch of times in the middle of "SexyBack".

JoJo's Mariah-esque whistles and that "whoo!" near the end of "Too Little, Too Late".

that "whoo!" near the end of "Too Little, Too Late".
Tell me about it.
Apparantly it's called "belting" or something...
Oh, there are a bunch of these I could add, if I could think of them right now.
My old roommate hates the end of Jewel's 'Good Day'. She said it sounds like she's mutating. LOL!!
I'll come back to this topic. It's an awesome idea!

Sorry honey, but you're no Aretha. I'm quite certain now that every moment Beyonce Knowles opens her mouth in a song can be defined as "excruciating." Her yelling the chorus of "Ring the Alarm" probably tops this, though.

Madonna rapping in American Life... (I'm one of the only people that loves it though!)
Also, this morning, I was watching Mary J Blige's "Take Me As I Am" on TV, thinking how nice the song was, until she started singing the bridge or breakdown or whatever. It sounded like a dying donkey... I could really do without that.

I second Keisha's high notes in Love and Madonna's rapping in AL.

Her yelling the chorus of "Ring the Alarm" probably tops this, though. That's mine as well. Close second would be the Danity Kane backing singers' yeahs in "Show Stopper".

I was at Universal the other day and during the Bill and Ted show the very beginning is a XTina lookalike, funny watching her trying to lip sync to the beginning of it. But Love was kind of annoying at parts and part of Be Without You.

Danity Kane backing singers' yeahs in "Show Stopper". I think those are Danity Kane themselves. But I definitely second it. It's God-awful.

Oh, I wanted to add the spoken bridge part in Kelly Clarkson's "Walk Away". The worst part of the whole song!

1) Beyonce's screaming part right after Jay-Z's rap in "DeJa Vu" (not to mention the accompanying dance in the video) 2) Rihanna "belts" the chorus of "Unfaithful" 3) The whole part of "Get Right" by J-Lo. Those background sample is one of the most annoying things ever! Perhaps I'll come back to this later. Anyway, I like the "fooOooOooOoound" part of Keyshia Cole's "Love"

Not a hit yet, but the grating quality of Christina Aguilera's voice when she sings the chorus of "Hurt". Cringeworthy.
Girl needs to learn how to hold back or soften the impact of her very strong voice.

But I like what other people call "shrieking, wailing, yelling Me too, with the exception of Keyshia's "Love." I love it when Mariah, Patti, Christina shriek on their songs. As bad as it was, it was just too funny. I think she did it all bad on purpose to make fun of rapping.
