Some D12 song mentions Shirley Manson. I forget the name of it but the lyric is: "Your style's more Garbage than Shirley Manson"
This line was hotly contested amongst G fans in 2004 regarding whether or not the reference is a "diss" or just "clever" wording. I think the latter.

this song sounds awesome. i have to check it out, i like "Daft Punk's Playing at my House" - hey, another namedrop, LOL
and then damn Cheryl had to get married, change her last name and make it outdated! it wouldn't work as well if Lily had to rhyme stuff with Cole...

The Used mention My Chemical Romance is "Take It Away". Too bad the two lead singers of those bands aren't friends anymore.

Robbie Williams - "She's Madonna"
Oh, Madonna, Madonna
I don't miss you Just who You used to be And you don't ring true So please Stop calling me Your "I love you"'s Are ten a penny You're dropping clues Like you've got any You got to choose There's been so many ohhhh
I love you baby But face it she's Madonna No man on earth Could say that he don't want her This look of love Says I'm leaving You're frozen now I've done the freezing I'm walking out Madonna's calling me
She's got to be Obscene to be believed That's her routine Not what she means to me I found myself By circumstance Across a room Where people dance And quite by chance She' danced right next me
I love you baby But face it she's Madonna No man on earth Would say that he don't want her It's me not you I've got to move on You're younger too But she's got her groove on I'm sorry love Madonna's calling me
Oh, Madonna, Madonna
I want to tell you a secret
We're having drinks With Kate and Stella Gwyneth's here She's brought her fella But all I wanna do Is take Madonna home
I love you baby But face it she's Madonna No man on earth Would say that he don't want her It's me not you I've got to move on You're younger too But she's got her groove on I'm sorry love Madonna's calling me

"Boys of Summer" by Don Henley, with the line, "Out on the road today, I saw a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac."
Not exactly the band's name, though it's an obvious reference. If that doesn't count in your book you can go with the Ataris' cover version, which replaces Deadhead with "Black Flag".

The Used mention My Chemical Romance is "Take It Away". Too bad the two lead singers of those bands aren't friends anymore. I rocked out hard to that song a couple winters ago (haha), I remember that. Wasn't it unintended? And didn't they collaborate on tour the next summer (2005), where they performed and even recorded a studio version of David Bowie's "Under Pressure"? And why aren't Bert and Gerard friends anymore? ???

But Gerard wanted all profits to go to the tsunami relief. Now whenever The Used perform "Take It Away", Bert lifts his finger during the line when they mention MCR.

I never remember In Love and Death being reissued, but I do remember "Pressure" being released pretty significantly after "All That I've Got". To this day, I swear to God. I can not tell the singers apart in that song. Don't know which is which. I know, it's sad.

i just read an article in Blender the other day, and it said their fall out was also caused when Gerard decided to get clean and stop doing drugs and partying, when he and Bert did a lot of that.

I was thinking about this the other day, and now that there is a thread about it...
Mariah Carey - mentioned in Katy Perry's new hit Prince, Michael (Jackson) and Marvin Gaye - mentioned in MKTO's classic Jessica Simpson - mentioned in Pink's "So What" Lindsay Lohan - mentioned in Pitbull Featuring Afrojack, Ne-Yo & Nayer "Give Me Everything" Miley Cyrus - mentioned in Pitbull Featuring Ke$ha "Timber" Michael Jackson - mentioned in Keri Hilson Featuring Ne-Yo & Kanye West "Knock You Down" Britney and Jay-Z - mentioned in Miley Cyrus' "Party In The USA" Babyface and Bobby Womack - mentioned in Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" Marvin Gaye - mentioned in Jewel's "Stand"
I'm pretty sure there are many many more that have come out since the last post in this thread was made, but these are the ones off the top of my head...
