I didn't know they were changing either. It'd be interesting to see how they fare against WKSE.

Wouldn't it be cool if Dave Universal took over CKEY? I've heard rumors....

^ Assuming Dave has a non-compete clause in his contract, the earliest he probably could work there is mid-to-late summer, since most non-competes are effective for six months. If it were true about him working at CKEY, I'd be sweating bullets if I were at WKSE. After all. Dave built Kiss into what it is now and he could potentially beat them at their own game.

Dave Universal has a consulting contract to help program CKEY. Because he was fired the non-compete clause does not apply and may not have applied since CKEY is legally a Canadian station.

Wild played The Killers the other night so they are no longer all rap.

CKEY has been moved to the CHR-Pop panel to make 118 stations.

Entercom screwed Dave Universal. It’s as simple as that. After all the years of service at Kiss 98.5, it’s hard to believe that Universal suddenly bucked company policy on Payola. I think they used the particular incident because they wanted to get rid of him and take the station in a different direction. They have already shortened up their currents and have been spinning the top songs more then 80X’s per week. WKSE had been a bit stagnant in the ratings prior to Universal’s departure, especially in the Fall of 2004 when it dropped to 4.7. It sounds to me Entercom just wanted an excuse to shake things up. It’s sad cuz I truly believe his heart and soul was in that station and the majority of the staff really liked and respected him. Firing him wasn’t the answer.
It’s going to take a lot to get CKEY going in the right direction. Their on-air talent is horrible I can’t stand listening to them. I wonder if some of the KISS DJ’s will jump ship at some point to work with Universal again? Or will Universal end up getting a new job somewhere else in the country? He always seemed to be well respected in the radio business.

I have never even heard an on-air personality on Wild 101. Mind you, I dont listen to the station a whole lot, just pass by it once in a while when I'm in the car, and even then the reception is half fuzzy so I change right away, but sometimes it can be made out.
Yea I noticed they switched over, because recently in some of the previews of the songs they play they played some rock/pop songs.
I found it odd though to still hear some heavy rhy leaning songs and then mixed in with a rock song right after lol.
