OK, I'd like to know Epic/Trustkill's thinking on this one. "Tonightless" was just released a month ago and was sent for adds at Alternative just last week or so.
So now "Victim" is released to Rock and Active Rock. Why? "Tonightless" is charting on Active Rock; it's not doing very much, but it's on there. What's the point of releasing the second single so soon? It received 10 pre-impact adds on Active Rock, so it may very well end up taking away from what "Tonightless" would have ultimately achieved.
This is harder and is somewhat more familiar territory for them, but from the two times I streamed it from Trustkill's website (before I even heard "Tonightless"), it didn't impress me much and would've been my least favorite song, had it been released on Obsession.

I think you hit the nail on the head although your dislike of the song is getting in the way. I think they reasoned that a harder song would do even better on active rock, which has a tendency to lean more toward harder material. And Tonightless would go well on alternative, which is most of the time the opposite. It's not a bad plan, but I don't know if Eighteen Visions is the sort of group that could pull it off. However, we've certainly seen enough double singles in the past year to know that it's not necessarily suicide.

Having heard "Tonightless" a dozen times since has made me like this one a little more, now that I've streamed it again. I guess this song being the first from the new record that I got to hear, I expected it to be a lot better. But I mean, I like this less than every track off Obsession, for Pete's sake.
The lyrics really stand out on this one, and while not bad, they're definitely not anything deep. I guess the music isn't catchy enough to pick up the slack and make them less noticeable.
