Can I offer some advice?...

Just the opinion of, well, me...But I spend a lot of time reading the back and forth between members and moderators (it's more entertaining then half the stuff on TV) and I just have a suggestion here...Something you may entirely disagree with, and that's cool, but I still feel I should offer it...
Why keep this Announcements/Member Concerns forum around? Seriously, the Announcements part I can see, as sometimes there are announcements the mods/admin have to make for everybody to see, but you can have a forum where only mods/admins can post for that...The "member concerns" part is what concerns me (gotta love the irony)...That term invites people to pretty much complain about whatever they can think of...And apparently, some people here can think of a lot...
At the board I help run, we don't have a forum like this...We do have a suggestions/feedback forum, but that's not meant to deal with "why was what I said deleted?" questions...Matters like that have no real reason for being public and should stick to PMs...And mods/admins are (pretty much) the be all and end all of power at a message board...Their decision shouldn't be debated over, just drop it...I know how it feels for a member to constantly bitch and moan about something that you've already told them your decision on...It's annoying as hell, and it shouldn't be...
Now, at the same time, there should be a system of "checks and balances" (thank you US government) with the mods/admins...I don't know if you guys have a "hidden forum" on the boards (because if you do, well it's hidden so I can't see it) but if you don't, I suggest you create one and use it to make team decisions...If somebody PMs you with a complaint, bring said complaint up to the whole lot of mods and come to an overall decision on how to handle it...That way at least it's not just one person making the decision...On the board I'm one of 4 admins for, none of us do anything without bringing it up to the other three first...We don't ban anybody, we don't delete/lock threads (unless of course there's something highly offensive, like a racial slur or something else that would go against Proboards TOS), we basically don't make any decision on our own...That helps to keep everybody on the boards happy because they know that no one person has the most power...
I only bring these things up because for the past two months, it seems like more people spend time complaining about mod decisions then they do talking about music...That's a problem that could (eventually) destroy this message board...And I for one would like to avoid it coming to that...
I started with this statement and I'll end with it...You don't have to take my advice, in fact you can laugh at it and make believe I never said it...That's fine with me...But considering the board I'm a part of is entering it's third year, I think it's safe to say we're doing something right...
Ciao...
