Matt, since this board isn't working properly right now, is there a chance that you can set up a new board to possibly move to? If you don't want to use Proboards, you can try something like www.invisionfree.com/ or something like that. Just a thought.

It seems like you guys are overreacting. It's already been stated that the problems will be resolved soon, and it would also be an incredible hassle to move over 300 members to a new board.
The Invision board does look pretty good though.

Yeah, it would be quite an inconvenience to move after this place has gotton so organized and used to over the last half a year or so. It's been well over a week, almost two now, since this board began having problems but I would say if we can wait it out for another few weeks, after that, could it be a serious consideration?

The webmaster at Proboards realizes this and he just needs time to correct it. He said he will be doing it soon. It's not that big of a deal. So the boards are down a few hours a day until he can get it working again... It's not worth moving somewhere else.

It's funny how armageddon breaks loose when there's the smallest of technical problems on the boards. It just goes to show how much of an extension of people's daily lives it is...

These days the best time to post is in the wee hours of the morning.

Now, I often get a page that says that there are too many connections to the site and to try again in 30 seconds. Still, that's much better than waiting all day to get on. Has anyone else gotten this page? I too don't think it's necessary to move to another board. As Rebirth Experience says, the webmaster at Proboards is aware of the problem and is working on correcting it.

The board is moving up and down. I must be spending way too much of my free time here.

I know somebody that could host it on their own server for free, if you want to move it.

Michael Jackson DOT Music Board? Is this a forum for child molesters? It used to be the MJ dot refugee place (ie. the place for the MJ posters when dotmusic closed down) But nobody's posting there. But the owner say that he wants to buy a new domain name. And it's okay by him if you guys wanna move. The mods here could get mod status over there too.

The "slight technical problem" is pretty annoying when you cant post half the time you would like to.

Yeah... Am I the only one who gets 'too many connection' like 50% of the times I click on a topic here? I get them all the time. Im in the process of putting up a board on Invision. But by no means trying to steal visitors & members from PMB or any other. And I do still plan on posting regularly here, and all of the other boards I belong to.

I get them more than 50% of the time it seems. However, if they say they are working on it, then I guess they are :)

Well since I've set up an alternative place, we could at least post there until the problem is fixed.

Nothing personal but this is "inconvience" is really started to piss me off. I type up three pages of material for my new music awrsds thread and it is all gone. I doubt I will try to reinact it since to took so many hours. Like i said nothing personal but if the problem presist I will be force to chose another board or start a weekly newsletter not that anyone would want to subscibe to it. It seems like my musical taste varies alot from those other members of the board

I like Proboards. I like Proboards even more than Invision boards, even though I use YaBB SE and Invision for a couple of my sites. Cgi boards use up a lot more bandwidth, but since no one is paying for this server space, it doesn't matter.

But invisionboards is a bit more dynamic (as to layout and other stuff, and it's much easier to administrate when you have it uploaded to a private server.) The sad thing is that we can't move the posts here over to an invisionboard :(

Yeah, I posted a CHR Flashback from 1988 the other day and when I went to post it, the boards were down. I hit the backward tab several times and when I forwarded again, the damn thing was gone. When you type something really long, you should post it in smaller increments, instead of all at once, especially now, when the boards keep failing, but really, all the time. That's why when I post my CHR Flashbacks, you only see the Top 20 at first, then a message like "be right back with the rest...here on Gilligan's Isle".

If you're typing something very lengthy, use a word processor and then copy and paste.

Or, just highlight/rightclick/copy your text before you hit "Post"... it'll stay in your scratchpad just in case.

Yes, both of those are good suggestions. It's common sense, actually.

Im willing to share co-admin powers at my board, if you decide you no longer want to deal with Proboards.
