The Rebirth Experience is a moderator so he has every right to stick his nose into anything on the boards. He even edited my post LOL.
I thought silver for singles was 200,000 not 100,000. Have they changed it? I went to the website but that info doesn't appear anymore on the charts page.

Thank you. atomicaloud, if it's really that necessary for you to go swearing at people, you can find somewhere else to post because you sound like a total lowlife when you're constantly cursing people out every time you get angry. Then you wonder why people don't like you. That goes for everybody. Arguments will sometimes be tolerated but when it gets to the point where you are swearing and attacking people, your posts are going to disappear, and don't be surprised if your membership to this board eventually disappears too. There is no reason to be acting like a child.

Why can't we all get along. I realize some of us aren't adults yet but hasn't anyone taught any of you have to how to actt congenial to each other. God it seems some of you people look for fights and it is pathetic. This is a music board how about we talk on topic and forget all the bulls**t , it's really getting old fast.

silver - 100,000 gold - 400,000 platinum - 600,000 I won't question this data, as I'm not the one living in the UK! ;) In the States, it's 500,000 units to be certified gold and a million to be certified platinum. Correct me if I'm wrong, but way back in the '60s and '70s when singles sales were strong, I think a gold single had to sell a million and platinum was over two million. Not sure about silver though; anyone care to help me out here? And are the certification rules different for albums? Thanks...I realize this isn't exactly concerning this week's UK charts!

Keith, according to www.everyhit.co.uk/faqs.html (and they seem pretty reliable because they have a very solid chart database) it used to be 1,000,000 for Platinum. Q) How does a disc become Platinum / Gold / Silver? A) This has varied through history. Once upon a time, a single had to sell a million copies to go Platinum. But now the figures are: Singles: Platinum - 600,000 copies / Gold 400,000 copies / Silver 200,000 copies. Albums: Platinum - 300,000 copies / Gold 100,000 copies / Silver 60,000 copies. A dubious site (Savage Garden!) also had the same info: UK Certification Silver Gold Platinum Singles Sales 200,000 400,000 600,000 Album Sales 60,000 100,000 300,000 So perhaps they've downgraded the requirement for a silver further. That was my original question. I was very sure it was 200,000 for silver a few years back when I was following the UK chart religiously. I don't live in the UK either but I used to know the UK singles chart pretty well.

Album are totally different for certifications.
