The talk about whether she should quit Dancing with the Stars has gone too far, claims a harried Nikki Webster.
FOR years now Nikki Webster has been the brunt of criticism, but the last week has been difficult.
Webster, 17, told The Eye that talk that she should quit Dancing with the Stars because of her previous dance experience has hit her hard.
It seems everybody has an opinion about Nikki and her dancing, or about Nikki in general.
"People don't realise that I'm only 17, and this kind of stuff hurts," she said.
"Over the past four years I've gotten used to it – usually it's just in the media.
"But when the public start criticising and saying I should be kicked off, it's different.
"All I want to do is dance well for my charity."
Fellow contestant Holly Brisley, who has also had dance experience, was not popular with Webster or some of the other contestants after she weighed into the debate, saying she does have an unfair advantage.
"It's been a real wake-up call," Webster said.
"You do learn who your real friends are.
"I saw Tom (Williams) and Ian (Roberts), and they were fantastic."
Former Big Brother housemate Sara-Marie Fedele is also a proud Webster supporter.
Whenever Webster is in the news The Eye has an amazing response, some positive, some negative.
Webster said she had told the producers from the beginning that she had danced before, but never ballroom.
She said she and partner Sasha Farber have been rehearsing for an average of six hours a day in an effort to be the best.
Webster has faced taunts since she became one of our best-known figures at the Sydney Olympics.
"I just can't seem to shake it," she said.
"But in the end it just makes me stronger."
