CoCo Lee's much anticipated English follow-up album to "Just No Other Way" is set to be released March 25 in Hong Kong. The album is titled "Exposed" and the first single is "No Doubt." Read more about it here: Mar. 2nd, 2005 : New Album EXPOSED Features Hip-hop Single 'No Doubt' Yes, No Doubt, it's for real this time. CoCo will be releasing her new English album, entitled EXPOSED, featuring the first hit single "No Doubt" this month. SonyBMG Hong Kong has alos revealed the album cover and the release date in Hong Kong is confirmed to be March 25th. It's been five years and five months since CoCo's last worldwide debut Just No Other Way in late 1999. The production of the new album EXPOSED takes three years and three months and costs nearly US $ 1 million. Definitely a product of passion and love of music. The first single "No Doubt" is written by CoCo and a new hot writer Eric and is produced by CoCo and Rick Wake. It's a hip-hop with a lot of oriental flavors. The music video is directed by Rage, who had worked with famous celebrities in Japan including David Beckham. Air play of "No Doubt" is scheduled to begin on March 7th simultaneously in Chinese speaking countries first. Join the discussion at our forum (http://www.cocolee.net/forum).

She looks HOT on the cover. :o Really? I thought she should've went for the artistic approach like Christina Aguilera's "Stripped." "Exposed"/"Stripped" are hot album titles! :)

I especially like it because it reminds me of her last album's cover! I feel like listening to her English debut now, but there aren't any songs I'd wanna listen to.

The cover looks a mess. She couldn't have had someone done her hair? She looks like Nicole's "Stuff" photo (ANTM Cycle 1) where she's trying to see how big she can make her boobs by pushing 'em together.

My friend said she saw CoCo's sister on the news crying because she's getting divorced.

Judging from the clip of the first single "No Doubt," it does not sound very promising. :(

Watch the full "No Doubt" video here: www.xanga.com/skin.asp?user=BrYThis is generic RnB, like she has not evolved as an artist at all. She looks sexier than ever, but it is like she isn't trying to sing anymore with her untrained Mariah-esque voice. Anywho, this is a mindless, catchy song that could've been on Destiny Child's and/or Angela Via's last albums and no one would've noticed. Regardless, she looks SEXY and isn't that all that matters? She is no longer hot in Asia and I doubt a song like "No Doubt" will crossover to the US. At least her fans can finally hear what she's been working on. You can download the video at www.chinacoco.com

It's sad to see a good singer go bad. This song has a hot enough beat, but the lyrics are the cheesiest I've ever heard. Why is she acting all ghetto in the video? Oh, and the dancing is embarassing.

Would reccomend her first album? Well, if you mean her first official English album, "Just No Other Way," then I wouldn't really recommend it. It is completely cookie-cutter R&B/pop, but the first single "Do You Want My Love" is addictive. It was a shame it didn't hit it big but it was a success in Australia. Her second Top 30 Australian single, "Wherever You Go," was also a stand-out. The title track "Just No Other Way" was bearable too, having a Mariah Carey-"Dreamlover" vibe. I liked the album "Just No Other Way" but it doesn't have any originality if that's what you're looking for. CoCo Lee was hyped to take the Sony throne after Mariah left. She was always billed as the "Mariah of the East," selling over 6 million albums worldwide. However, I personally always thought her voice was overrated as it was untrained and all she does is throw in a couple Mariah-shrieks during ad-libbing (she does it again in "No Doubt"). Anyway, she was the first Chinese singer to take the stage at the Academy Awards, performing the ballad "A Love Before Time" from the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." She was the hottest property in China back in then, but has since been forgotten because she spent all her time working on this new English album. I'm not sure who she is catering this album to as her Chinese fans would probably prefer her Mandarin/Cantonese songs. P.S. I have never heard her sing this way in "No Doubt." I didn't think it was her at first.

Horrible. I already forgot how it goes after just 10 minutes. I miss the "Do You Want My Love" Coco! Hottest Coco. She performed at KDND's "Endfest 2000" and I was the only person jumping up and down during her performance. :'( No one knew who she was! :'(

Banned in China!
ORIENTAL DAILY NEWS - Coco Lee's new English album "Exposed" has been in the works for two years and was officially released in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China on the 25th. Soon after its release, record label Sony received an alarming notice from China announcing that the album is banned because of sexual lyrical content in the three tracks "So Good," "Touch," and "No Doubt." In addition, music videos for these singles were overtly sexual. Coco defends her work saying that the lyrical content is common. "'No Doubt' is about a girl who loves dancing. She uses dance to seduce a guy; 'Touch' is about remembering an old lover." Sony plans on releasing an altered version for the Mainland market with these three tracks lifted from the album. It should be available for sale within a week. Even though the album is officially banned, the lyrics and songs are still being broadcasted and sung in China. Coco explains, "The department that governs film in China is different from the department that governs music. Their policies are different. That's why the film department can broadcast and sing it, but the album cannot be sold." Coco was recently photographed kissing her boyfriend Bruce in public but vows she won't display too much public affection

I doubt "Exposed" will ever see a US release but here's an article about it. I'm listening to it right now and "No Doubt" is probably the best song on there and that's not saying much. I wished Sony hooked her up with a variety of producers and songwriters so everything on the album might not have came out sounding the same. --- March 23, 2005, 11:59AM www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/ae/3097576Coco Lee isn't discouraged by first album's limitations Associated Press HONG KONG — Coco Lee's first U.S. album failed to make her a household name, but the Chinese-American singer is optimistic that she'll eventually break into the lucrative American market. "It always takes time, and with the right songs, the right single and the right marketing, I think hopefully we'll be able to do it," Lee said. Her second English-language album, Exposed, is set for release in the United States on March 28. Lee's first U.S. release, 2000's Just No Other Way, didn't sell as well as her record company, Sony, had hoped. Lee performed A Love Before Time, the English theme song to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, at the 2001 Oscar ceremony. She described Exposed as a "rhythmic" album infused with Chinese and hip-hop sounds. Korean and Indian rappers worked on the release, she said.

They aren't really gonna release it are they? They'd make more money giving it away for free then shipping it out to stores

It is probably only going to be released in Asia because she's known there. Anyway, you should give it a listen before judging it. It's not my taste, but there have been some people who are crazy over it. It's RnB and sounds very Beyonce-ish.

The album "Exposed" debuted at #1 in Taiwan! You can watch the music video for "Magic Words," the second single, here: www.sonymusic.com.tw/pop/coco/p7.php It is one of the bright moments on her album and possibly the only "ballad" on there. Bear in mind that in China, artists move onto singles really fast and the music videos are usually very low budget. Her "Do You Want My Love" or "No Doubt" videos are on the higher end and look much more polished like American music vids. :)

"Magic Words" is pretty good. I hate to admit it, but "No Doubt" is a pretty fun song to listen to if you don't take the lyrics too seriously.

www.books.com.tw/exep/cdfile.php?item=0020101382You guys can listen to her the clips of new songs in the website. Actually, I really love this new album, it's great. Every song has it's own style. It won't be worse than "Rebirth"of JLo. According to the Sony BMG, they said this album will be relase in USA after three for four months. I really hope they can promot CoCo harder, Cause the promotion in Asia is suck, and We fans are really angry about this.

"So Good" MV banned by Sony Taiwan "So Good" music video has been banned by Sony Taiwan and will not be hitting TV stations across Taiwan and China. The video has been banned due to its "sexually suggestive" content which is considered "over the top" for Taiwanese TV rating standards. Coco doesn't seem to be too concerned about the video being banned as she knows her fans will always find other "channels" to see her videos. The video will be airing in Hong Kong early May however.
