This will be Geri's 2nd single from her 3rd album. "Desire" comes out May 23.

This sounds particularly like a Rachel Stevens track to me. Which isn't so surprising when Geri apparently begged Richard X for "Some Girls"...

It sounds like a cross between Rachel Stevens' 'Sweet Dreams My LA Ex' and Geri's own 'Look At Me'...
I'm really loving it!

Saw it on CDUK. Doesn't sound like Geri's voice at all (probably cuz it isn't). It really is just like Sweet Dreams with all it's character removed.

I like this song a lot! The Shanghai Surprize Mix is pretty good. This will be huge all over.

Absolutely bombs in the UK with a dismal #22 debut.

This really is Geri's first true flop. Before that, she was one of two Spice Girls who had all their songs debut in the Top 10 (Geri still has had the most solo Spice Girl #1s though - at four, all consecutive too). Victoria Beckham, the only Spice Girl without a solo #1 now remains the only one of the five to have all her singles debut Top 10 (though it is good to remember she's only had four herself anyways...)
"Ride It" was a mediocre comeback single, and it is suprising to look back and see that there was just over a 6 month gap between its release and "Desire". She was promoting "Ride It" for a good 6 weeks before it entered the charts, so has really been back in the limelight musically since the end of October with no album release (until this week) and 2 singles.
I personally believe her record label likely thought she was going to do better with "Ride It" than she actually did... a November/December comeback was always going to be more difficult than any other time of year, and I think they quickly realised they'd picked the wrong song and wrong time of year. The fact they tried to get "Ride It" as the song for Children In Need 2004 shown desperation and must have been embarassing for her considering she lost out to Girls Aloud, a band she had a hand in creating...
"Desire" is good, but this is Geri Halliwell trying to make trendy Pop music, and for that reason alone it just doesn't work - Geri isn't cool. It was odd how radio programmers and video channels just wouldn't play this track though, considering in spite of that it probably fits in with Pop music (in the UK at least) moreso that "Ride It" did (which sounded rather dated...)
I wonder how the album is going to do and whether they'll bother with releasing a new single or not.
Regardless, so long as the album has been released she's the first Spice Girl to complete a solo record contract. I hope she releases a double A-side next; if that could go Top 10 then at the very least that could salvage her album.

"Desire" is good, but I do agree that "Ride It" was better. The video is sexy.

''Desire'' is a great single. I don't understand why it flopped that badly. The Bimbo Jones Remix is excellent.
