I hate that some of my favorite artists in the past years have limited success in their own continents:
North America: Rob Thomas\Matchbox Twenty Goo Goo Dolls Dave Matthews Band Bush
UK\Europe: Travis Stereophonics Kylie Robbie Williams Corrs
what is the explanation for this? I know their are over 1000 more examples, I jsut can't figure it out.

Robbie & Kylie are still succesfull in Europe They're both very successful in Europe, really. Kylie's "Body Language" album didn't sell amazingly well in the UK though, but "Ultimate Kylie" has done well as has Robbie's "Greatest Hits". But neither of them have "limited success". They are both considered very big artists in the UK at least, and across Europe - and Australia. Robbie managed to get the #1 selling album of the year in the UK for 2002 with "Escapology". It did this after being released about 6-8 weeks before the end of the year, whilst the album which was the second highest seller than year in the UK - "M!ssundaztood" by P!nk - was out most of the year.

I think, well I know I didn't describe this well enough. I mean, which artists are succeful in their own country, you know big time, but aren't successful overseas.
Bush by the way, from what I have read in the UK charts, aren't nearly as popular overthere compared to here, I don't get it.
I'll never understand how Robbie wasn't huge here, well, I guess I can.

Don't forget the enigma that is Anastacia's success.

Kelis also performs better overseas than in her own country.

Matchbox Twenty has done very, very well in Australia and I believe Asia. They have, however, not done well in Europe. That may be about ready to change for Rob. Rob is getting a lot of airplay and video play in Spain. Maybe it'll spill over to other countries. LOL!
