Just a few minutes ago I was doing my chart and trying to find good, new music on BBC's Top of the Pops website. I stumbled upon the new videos page and was happy to find My Chemical Romance, Gadjo, New Order, and a couple other good artists there... I eventually scrolled down and came across Pondlife and they're video for "Ring Ding Ding" and Crazy Frog's (whom I thought was just an annoying character made up for those damn ads and commercials I see all the time) "Axel F". I became curious and clicked on Pondlife's video first. Dear Lord, what the f**k is this? I had heard this (the stupid chipmunk voice) on some humor site a couple years ago with a racecar picture. It said to try not to laugh, and I admit, it was pretty hard. But, hell, as a song? I eventually clicked on Crazy Frog's "Axel F", and what do I find?! The same friggin' chipmunk voice thing. What is the world of music coming to? Link: www.bbc.co.uk/totp/videoWarning: Might cause mental suicide.

I have not heard these, but is it the same "Axel F" that has been covered too many times?

There was this okay one by Spacecorn that came out back in 2001. It was made to sound like the New Order track "Confusion" (the long 10 minute one).

I've never heard "Axel F", but I do really like Pondlife's song. It was previously called "Crazy Frog Chorus", but I'm pretty sure "Ring Ding Ding" is the same song given your description. I've never seen the video but the song is just flat out hilarious. I also saw this in the "racecar" video first a couple years back. What's wrong with making a song out of a funny voice effect set to a dance beat? It really gets in your head. I've never seen this in commercials. Maybe they're only airing in Europe. ???

Well, okay, there's nothing actually wrong with doing that, but I just found it immensely moronic. Of course, other people might think of it differently, but I can't consider that actual music. I dunno. As for the commercials, the music isn't actually played. Just the Crazy Frog shown on pop-ups and ringtone ads here in the US. I wouldn't know if they're being played in Europe or anywhere else though.

Well I went and watched the videos now. Both sublimely dumb, and the Axel F remix never should have been made. I stand by my statement about liking Pondlife's song though. The radio mix is a little better than the one in the video; seems like it has more of a beat, or it could just be that the crappy encoding on Realplayer took all the bass out of the video version.
