According to the September Update on her official site ( www.sophieellisbextor.net): "Work on album #3 continues apace for Sophie, who has recently jetted out to America to write and record some new material. She’ll be returning to the UK in a couple of weeks’ time, so we’ll let you know how she got on Stateside!"And some other tidbits from her site, re: her third album... I definitely will be touring. I’d like to do some unusual dates around the time the album is released – maybe some acoustic gigs. I’m sure I’ll be doing the full-on tour next spring. I’ll be heading off to Europe too. I’ve got a really good feeling about everything that’s happening – I’m very excited! People have been very patient and I’m working really hard so they feel the wait will have been worth it. I guess I've got in the region of 40 songs but most of the time you're trying things out to give you ideas for another track. It boils down to about 18 songs that are possibilities for the album. Then you produce those and see how it goes, and then cut them down again until your have 12 or 14.There are about 4 or 5 songs that might be singles but you never know what could turn up in the next few months either. It's an ever-evolving thing and until it's in a box with a cover on it's subject to change!I've been doing some work with a couple of people from the B52s which has been quite exciting as I'm a big fan of theirs. Most of the other names are people I've already worked with. I've become good friends with them and they've become an important part of the journey up until now. Look forward to hearing her new stuff!

Awesome! "Murder On The Dancefloor" I charted a few years ago. It was really good.

Awesome! "Murder On The Dancefloor" I charted a few years ago. It was really good. I can't wait for new Sophie...I enjoyed a lot of her second album as well...though there were only two singles released..."Mixed Up World" and "I Won't Change You." Then she had some complications with her pregnancy and put everything else on hold understandably. The last we heard from Sophie was when she did guest vocals on the dance track, "Circles (Just My Good Time)" by Busface--where she went by the name Mademoiselle E.B.

My mum said they have been playing the first single on the radio? Can this be right?

I don't know...I don't think so. She is still working on the album and hasn't picked a new single as of yet. The last new material from Sophie was the "Circles" song that I mentioned before. That came out in March. I think we would have heard something about a new single on her website. She seems to update it fairly frequently.

From Sophie's website. Updated May 16th.
Sophie Catch-Up: Part 1
With some brand new material on the way (never mind a two-year-old son!) Sophie's been a very busy lady recently, but she took time out to fill us in on what she’s been up to, her next album and her plans for the summer.
Check out what she had to say in the first part of our interview below - we'll be bringing you the next part soon...
So what’s been going on with you for the last few months?
I’ve been finishing work on this album. It’s funny, I know that it seems like I’m inactive because I haven’t been doing anything public, but I haven’t really stopped working! The last year and a half has been spent writing and recording and we’ve finally got to the mixing stage, which is great because it means I’ve done all the hard work really and now it’s over to other people to make it sound all finished. The first single will be coming out in the summer.
And is there a theme to the album?
Well it’s always difficult for me to be too objective about it, but hopefully it just sounds like it’s me. I think it’s probably closer to the first album in terms of feel and there are lots of uptempo tracks. It’s just a pop album really, there’s no theme, I just write songs depending on my mood.

Sophie Catch-Up: Part 2
In Part 2 of our interview, Sophie reveals who she’s been working with on the new album.
Next week, find out about Sophie’s plans for live performances…
Have you got a favourite track on the new album yet?
To be honest it’s difficult to tell because I haven’t got a finished album in my hands, so I haven’t had the opportunity to listen to it as a finished piece. At the moment, because they’re new they all feel like favourites, but I’m sure once I’ve lived with it for a couple of months and stopped working on it I’ll be able to just be a listener rather than a participant and then I’ll be able to go, ‘Ooh, this one’s one of my favourites!’
Who have you been working with?
I’ve been very lucky, I’ve been working with some really brilliant different UK writers and artists. I did a song with Liam from the Sneaker Pimps and some stuff with a French guy called Dimitri, who’s a bit more alternative. Cathy Dennis has written one and Brian Higgins, who’s part of Xenomania, and that was lots of fun, he’s a very talented pop writer. There’s a brilliant girl called Hannah Robinson who I ended up doing a lot of stuff with, we got on really well. I’ve also done some songwriting with Dan from The Feeling. I’ve just been enjoying the fact that there wasn’t any time pressure so I could write with lots of different people, and sometimes we got lots of brilliant stuff and other times we tried things out and they didn’t really work, but it’s just nice not to have to keep looking at the clock and going, ‘OK, we’ve got to come up with a hit by the end of the day!’

From Sophie's official site... www.sophieellisbextor.net/...Sophie answers fan questions. In the next instalment of Sophie’s answers to your questions, she reveals how she chose the album title and what inspires her to write her lyrics. Watford_boy: I was wondering if there was a specific theme to the new CD artwork? Like Read My Lips had a lotta lipstick and Shoot From The Hip seemed centred around photography and cameras. This new album is called Trip The Light Fantastic, which is an old fashioned phrase meaning ‘to dance’. I guess the artwork is going to have a nod to dancing and disco, but only in passing. I'm not actually striking a pose on the album cover. Anyway, Mr impatient, wait a little while and you'll see for yourself... Luis G.: Are you planning to make it big in North America as well, like Natasha Bedingfield, and Dido have?If they want me, fine, but I seem to be a rarity for a singer in that I'm missing the 'must break America' gene. I am very happy to have had the success I've had, where I've had it. More of the same would be lovely. bextor19GO: How did you choose the album title? To be honest I can't quite recall. I've had this title in mind for nearly as long as I've been writing the album! I think I was writing lyrics and this phrase popped into my head whilst I was trying to think of a new way to say dancing. It didn't make it as a lyric but I think it'll be happy with it's more prominent album title position.

Well...there is a new holding page up at www.sophieellisbextor.net, sophie's official site. The new site launch date is in 6 days I like the look of the page now...hopefully it is a sign of what the new artwork for the album will be like.

Sophie's website has officially re-launched (www.sophieellisbextor.net) and while the content is pretty limited for now, it does say that the album will be out "later in 2007" and the first single will be out February 19th. There is a short clip of the video for "Catch You" playing on the main page. It premiers in the UK next week.

Her new single is fantastic. Electro, fun and catchy, also sophisticated. I'm just loving it. She is having 2 singles out before the album drops, what is a great move IMO since she's been away for a while and needs to build up some momentum once again.
The video looks on fire. Sophie Muller did a good job and the place it was shot also helps a lot the picture of the video. Funny that it has been shot last September and she has also taken all the promo photos for this project so everything is just ready but waiting its time to drop. I'm excited to see this and hopeful that she will succeed.

Not sure if there's any fans out there, but I'm pretty excited for this. I liked the last album, and this is allegedly more concept driven. Out Jan 20 on iTunes according to her Facebook.
