Blu Cantrell has put out two outstanding cd's and still no superstardom
Deborah has been coming out with quality music for over a decade. No promotion = no hits :(
Mandy Moore really does have talent she just won't go all out slut to sell records
Kelis: Sure "Milkshake" was a hit but what about album sales and her follow up single ???
Foxy Brown no explanation needed
Leann Rimes "Life Goes On" , "I Need You" , "Can't Fight The Moonlight"
Jewel "Stand" "2 Become 1" "Standing Still"
Monica "Knock Knock / Get It Off" "Just Another Girl" , "All Eyez On Me"

LeAnn. I like "Life Goes On," "Suddenly," "Tic Toc," and all her other new stuff. Good songs.

I'll choose Deborah Cox. As an overall artist, I'd say she's the most underrated of the choices...what a great vocalist.
I agree that Monica's recent material is also pretty underrated. Though it's not as good as some of her earlier stuff, it could have brought her much more success than it did, especially on mainstream markets.

this is a good poll b/c a lot of these people truly are underrated. I almost put Blu Cantrell-- but decided not to since she did get the Grammy nom, even though she didn't win. Shoulda been a huge album though.
Kelis I really almost put, too-- the album is one of the best in years and could have at least a half dozen hit singles, but isn't doing so well right now. But I didn't pick her b/c "Milkshake" was the biggest hit of her career.
Deborah Cox has always been underated, but the last effort was kinda eh...
Jewel sold out, no way I'd pick her. Mandy wants to act not sing. Foxy Brown just has other issues. Leann is still overrated IMO.
So I pick Monica-- even though "So Gone" was a big hit (at least at R&B) and the album hit #1, since this summer it's been underperforming. THe real clencher is the almost COMPLETE lack of any awards recognition.

None of these are under-rated.

None of these are under-rated. Yeah, I came in here to say exactly that.

None of these are under-rated. I have to agree too. None of them really put out anything really noteworthy except for Jewel with "Intuition". I think Mandy Moore is the most overrated of them all. I don't get the love affair of her here, but to each his own.

"Something Happened On The Way To Heaven" was a great song that was underrated...however, the #1 pop stations added it...go figure...

None of these are under-rated. Somewhat agreed. I would probably be voting for Deborah if I knew her music better.

LeAnn Rimes. She put out some good music post-Blue and her best album to date with This Woman, yet she didn't sell well.

NOTA, really. I picked Kelis because out of the list, I'd choose to bump up her level of success over the others.
