Congratulations to all the new 48 semi-finalists. I'm sure everyone is waiting to hear which groups each person is in, however, that's just part of the surprise every week. However, we do have time to announce how the Semi-Final round will work, as well as, of course, Group A and it's theme.
First of all, their will be 6 groups of 8, that's 12 more contestants that the original American Idol show, however, we will be moving a little quicker, and plus we all know these artists pretty well, so throwing 12 more names we know into the mix isn't a big deal. Only in the semi-finals will we use the poll so everyone can see the results, however, we will use private instant messages for the Final 12. The Final 12 will consist of the eight winners (champion of each group), and the top four from the wild card round (the wild cards are all eight people who have finished in second place throught the semi-finals). Anyways, enough with the rules, here is the theme and of course, Group A.
Group AThis Weeks Theme-(The Top Hits of 1995)
Brian McKnight Chris Cornell Jewel John Mayer Michale Stipe Natalie Imbruglia Robbie Williams Shania Twain
Definitely a great, competitive group. They will be singing the top hits of 1995, and it's up to you, the audience to have recommendations for what you think they should sing. The decision for what they will sing will be announced on Thursday, followed by their Mock Performance and Mock Judge Comments coming out on Friday, so you guys can vote, and find out who win's and who goes home on Sunday, when we announce the winners and Group B.
It's been a good time, and be happy that you just overcame the most boring round. Now it starts getting exciting! The song choices will be announced, Thursday at 1:45 EDT. This has been your PSI Daily Update. Take It Easy, RK.
Remember, No Voting Until Friday Night!!

All songs will be in the R&R Top 100 of 1995, probably one of the best years in music as far as diversity, new and classic artists, etc. Artists wll not sing some of their own material, or else, that would be compltely boring. As a hint, I will say that one of the artists had the second highest amount of total votes in the entire competition's first round!

This doesn't seem to make sense. How can they sing songs they don't already perform? I mean, I have no idea how a John Mayer version of, say, "I'll Be There For You" or Natalie Imbruglia version of, say, "Fantasy" would sound.

I counted 14 votes for Monica and 14 for Mya, but Mya made it and Monica didn't... how did you determine this?

it could have definitely been an error as far as Monica, if so she will probably replace either Eminem who has 14 votes as well and though he is a great artist, he really has no singing talent or should be in the competition as it is. However, we'll let you guys determine this. Not to mention, because she was in the wild card, and didn't recieve her additional three votes, Monica would jump ahead of the two and its apossibility since Mya and Eminem come from the gold group, where Monica has been replaced, that both would be knocked out and replaced by Eddie Vedder who has 13 votes. I'll let you guys discuss. Anyways, good point. It will be determined for what to do with this matter. On the other hand, www.rick.com should have 1995's top 100. Keep posting people. Controversy already...

personally, I think your picks would create a very boring night. I mean, Brian McKnight probably won't go out singing This Is How We Do it, but I don't know, Sheryl Crow's older stuff is boring, and Better Man is too, I don't know, boring as well, even though I love the song. However, hearing Rob cover Wonderful would definitely be a good song choice.

didn't he ruin the band by the time it came across here to the US? Either way, I think someone should sing Back For Good, one of the most underrated AC songs ina long time.

Brian McKnight - On Bended Knee
Chris Cornell - I don't even know who he is, so no choice
Jewel - I agree, Take a Bow
John Mayer - I agree, Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman
Michael Stipe - Only Wanna Be With You
Natalie Imbruglia - No More I Love Yous
Robbie Williams - I'm The Only One (why not???)
Shania Twain - Don't Take It Personal
I tried to pick some that are out of the artists genre but that it could be cool for them to do a take one.

The artists have decided to perform: Brian McKnight- Kiss From A Rose Jewel- Take A Bow Natalie Imbruglia- Come And Get Your Love Chris Cornell- Strange Currencies Robbie Williams- Wonderful John Mayer- Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman Shania Twain- Fantasy Michael Stipe- You Oughta Know
Well, there you have it, make sure to check out the Polling Booth tomorrow evening to start voting after finding out how these artists perfromed at Pulse Superstar Idol. This has been your PSI Daily Update. I'm out. RK

Sure, this whole contest is insane, but it's just to kill off extra time, and fun to comment on. It would be really interesting however if the winner of a whole contest like this got an automatic bid to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, not to mention, it would just be fun to watch. Anyways, I think the most interesting performance out of all of these would probably either be Michael Stipe or Chris Cornell performing their songs, not to mention I think Natalie Imbruglia's would be an absolute disaster.

before I forget, yeah, the PMB Festival thing is absolutely wacked out, it's REAL crazy . Either way this is definitely along the same lines, but fuck it, it's just for a good time as distraction to everyday hassles.

I think we should just vote on who the best artist is without going through all this nonsense about picking songs from 1995 and whatnot. I thought that was the intent of this contest from the beginning?

no dude, i dont think so. I can understand your idea, bu it wouldn't be interesting at all. This is all about putting good artists in different situations or else everyone would pick the same artist over and over again. This is basically a continuance (sp.) of the American Idol thread but with popular artists. It lets people give their say on what themes they would like, and what songs they would like people to sing. We're keeping it like this, it's a lot more fun that way, I promise you some good stuff after the Mock Performances tomorrow trust me. Take it easy.

All right, everybody get ready to really start using their imagination (sure, drugs are allowed, yes even Crack Cocaine ) it's time for the part of the week we have all been waiting for, the mock performances. Aftear reading through the mock performances, all of them, please vote for who you think you would vote for. Sure judges may say they did good or bad, but the vote is all up to YOU. Make sure to comment why you voted on someone as well, so we can keep it interesting. By the way, since obviously their is no way we keep track of "crowd favorites" i'll randomly rank them in order 1-8, with the loudest crowd for a performer registering at 1.
Today presenting first will be: Shania Twain with Fantasy Crowd Ranking: 4 Judges Comments:
Randy: Shania, how are you feelin tonight? ST: Good. Randy: Not only do you look great tonite, but you truly have a great shot at taking this competition. Dawg, that was hot, you look hot, the perfromance was hot, good song choice. Yeeeeah. Yeeeah
Paula: Totally agree with Randy, that was a great song, and it was people like who Mariah Carey who took me off of the music charts.
Rucker: Good Job, one time me and my band perfromed this in Georgia, and well, things didn't go well, we could have used you.
Simon: Shania, <sigh>, I thought it was good, but.....maybe not the best song choice. I mean if six people are going to be eliminated from the whole competition, does Mariah Carey really seem like the solution for a winning performance. I don't, but it was good.
Shania: Thanks. Stupid Seacrest: Well. that was a.o.k. Mrs. Twain, I don't think Simon would like any songs coming out of 1995 because none of his boybands hit the US Top 100 that year, next up is Brian McKnight, with Seal's #1 smash, Kiss From A Rose
Brian McKnight- Kiss From A Rose Crowd Ranking: 2 Randy: Yo Yo Yo Yo Yo Yo Yo Yo Yo! Yo! Yooo! Now that's what this competition is all about, I feel bad for the rest of the people following you tonight, that was hot! Way to go.
Paula: Yeah, that was extremely well done, beautiful Rucker: It should have been you singing this on the Batman soundtrack.
Simon: The voice, it was great, but...the performance, it just didn't do it for me. I think a scarecrow would have more movement on stage than you did.
Idiot Seacrest: Scarecrow? Simon, you look a scarecrow! Ha! Anyways, good job Brian, and now up next we have the bautiful Natalie Imbruglia covering Real McCoy's, Come and Get Your Love.
Natalie Imbruglia- Come And Get Your Love Crowd Rating: 7
Randy: What's up Natalie? Natalie: The usual. Randy: For an artist with a #1 song, maybe one of the top 20 songs of the past 20 years, that was the poorest choice of a song you could choose. I mean, I don't know...It just didn't do it for me.
Paula: Natalie you look beautiful, but I agree with Randy, poor song choice.
Rucker: (Nowhere to be seen)
Simon: Before we get to Natalie, Paula, I don't think it would be wise to judge artists based on song choice, because you sang some dreadful songs in 1995. However I can. Natalie that was absolutely awful. This will surely be your last performance in the competition.
Pencil Seacrest: Well Natalie it's up to the fans, I thought it was super...well, our next artist is extremely popular on one side of the globe, and on the other, he's just that guy who dances and rips off his bodyparts. Let's hear it for Mr. Robbie Williams version of Adam Ant's Wonderful.
Robbie Williams- Wonderful Crowd Rating: 5
Randy: Okay Okay, the performance was good, you sang great, just once again, poor song choice. We need something exciting, and that song bored me. But you did a good job.
Paula: Robbie. I thought it was great, you are truly unappreciated here in the United States.
Rucker: (still nowhere to be seen)
Simon: The song was wonderful. The performance was abysmal. Robbie I know you can do better than this and that's why this whole situation bothers me. I mean do you really think this would sway voters your way? It would sway me into not watching show.
Dumb Seacrest: Woah-Ho! Well Simon's up to the usual, well were halfway through the competition, and now starting off the other half, here is the beautiful Alaskan native, Jewel, singing, Take A Bow by Madonna
Jewel- Take A Bow Crowd Rating: 1
Randy: Yeeeeah Yeeeah! Yeah Dawg Yeah Dawg! Jewel you look hot, you performed hot, hands down best performance of the night.
Paula: Great song choice. Great performance. You've got a while to go Jewel.
Rucker: If anyone has been wondering, I was at Jack In The Box before the show, so you can understand where I was. Anyways, Jewel, I remember when you came on to the scene in 1996, I never thought you would make it this far, but you really are a star. Good job.
Simon: Well Done.
Jobstealin' Seacrest: Well, if Simon's pleased, does that mean the voters will be? I don't know. Anyways that was great. However, next up is John Mayer singing Bryan Adam's 'Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman'.
John Mayer- Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman Crowd Rating: 3
Randy: Dawg. Now I know what John Mayer is all about. That was great. Wooo, I can feel the heat tonite. You are definitely getting a lot of ladies with that performance.
Paula: John, that was great. Bryan Adams would appreciate someone covering his music so well.
Rucker: You know, it's artists like you that take away my spins on the radio, but you deserve it.
Simon: I have to say, that I feel completely the opposite of what all three other judges feel. If you would have been more "breathy" in that performance, you would have passed out. Now, here's the thing. Tonite a lot of people thought you did a great job, but you will become stale if you keep singing these type of songs. This isn't Man-Ballad Idol, it's Superstar Idol, and though you are a good artist, I really am unsure to know if you have what it takes.
Dothead Seacrest: John, I thought that was great. However, we still have two artists waiting to perform. To Rock n' Roller that is. The first one to go will be the wild man himself, Michael Stipe singing Alanis Morissette's, "You Oughta Know".
Michael Stipe- You Oughta Know Crowd Rating: 8
Randy: Micheal, you were all over the stage, but you were hitting all the notes. It was allright, wasn't great, but all right.
Paula: I have to disagree with Randy. Michael that was a difficult song to cover, and you did a great job doing it. This really shows your potential. I thought it was great.
Rucker: Mike, that was great. You are truly one of the best rock stars of our time.
Simon: I'll be honest. I truly think that was the best performance of tonite. Everyone is singing "safe" songs, but you really went all out. It was good. However, the only thing that concerns me, is your age. How many more records can we get out of you? How long can you sound this good? Will this concern the voters? I don't know, but I thought it was a very good performance.
White Seacrest: Michael Stipe everyone! That was great. Last but not least, is Chris Cornell, performing a cover of Michael Stipe's band, REM's hit, Strange Currencies.
Chris Cornell- Strange Currencies Crowd Rating:6
Randy: Dawg it was good, but I really don't know what to say. I think you have a great voice, but I don't know if this was the right song for you. It was aight.
Paula: Chris, I thought that was great. Your voice is extremely underappreciated.
Rucker: That was one awesome cover.
Simon: Chris, that was just plain awful. You have such a good voice, why would you waste it on such a boring song. Sorry Michael, this song is a good song, it is just a boring song, and I'm sorry that we had to hear someone destroy another artists song, who is hear tonight. That was embarassing for you, and it was embarassing for Michael. I could have went to Japan and heard a better karaoke version somewhere at a Roller Skating Rink in Tokyo....
Seacrest Out: Well Chris, perhaps the voters will be thinking the same way as me, because I thought it was great. Anyways, that's all of our eight performers. Find out Sunday Night who will be advancing to the Finals, who gets an invite to the Wild Card, and who will be leaving us. I'm Ryan Seacrest, OUT OUT OUT.
VOTING HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN UNLOCKED
Remember vote for who you think you would vote for if this was an actual show. Fuck It, just your imagination, it's just all for fun.

OH, WE'RE MAKING THIS REAL WACKED
However, I do agree that it would be a bit easier to vote if we had artists singing their songs. I was worried about the fact that if a few artists went really far they'd run out of songs, but then I thought about it, I really do not think that will be a problem. Starting next series artists will perform their own songs unless I recieve a huge objection to it. However, in the future, maybe every few weeks, they will cover others songs. I think like next series will be themed "slow songs", or "upbeat", or etc. to make it so artists have at least something in common when performing. Okay, but for right now, this is the way it stands. Take it easy.

agreed, however they will still be singing their own songs. The winners will be announced on Sunday at 8pm, with the announcement of the new group. Artists singing their own songs will definitely work out better, however, we need more voting, everyone promote in there signatures. have a good one.
