The definitive version of "My Grown Up Christmas List" was recorded by Monica in 2000 and appears on "Platinum Christmas." I know that Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken have both recorded the song, but to me Monica's is the best.
Her vocals were in rare condition (a la "For You I Will") and she gave an almost perfect vocal performance.
Her version is a little different from the other two who covered it. A couple of the lyrics differ. What do you all think of this one.

Actually Amy Grant did a version before Monica. The song is very good and I like Amy's, Monica's, and Kelly's versions. Never heard Clay's.

Kelly recorded a version last year and it was very good, but Clay has never sung this.

Kelly recorded a version last year and it was very good, but Clay has never sung this. He's doing it in his live set for his "Holiday Tour." I not sure if he put it on his Christmas album.

No, Clay is not singing it. Clay always features his back-up singers during his concerts and each one gets to sing a solo. It's like a rotation, with a different back-up singing a solo at each venue. One of his back-ups, Quiana Parler (by far the best of the 3 back-ups, IMO) is singing it as her solo during Clay's concert, but Clay himself has never sung it and it is not on his album. ETA: Quiana's version is also great. Anyone interested can download the mp3 below. For a clandestine fan recording at a concert, the sound quality is very good. s15.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=B1CE9572D11128FB85F32CAED698E6CA

Monica's version is great. Amy Grant's is fantastic. I haven't heard any of the others.

I think both Monica and Kelly Clarkson give different renditions of the song, made unique by the instrumentation and vocals. Monica's is more R&B-tinged but it's still great.
I heard Natalie Cole's version on the radio and it's not bad, although I prefer the two above mentioned better. I'm sure i've heard Amy Grant's, but don't remember it.

Stephanie Beaumont (a Canadian singer) also released this in the mid 90s.

I love her rendition, but I prefer Amy Grant and Kelly Clarkson's versions.
