Do you remember the 1988 Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis penned Christmas song for Alexander O Neal called "Sleigh Ride" ("Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Santa's coming..."), it was covered by the Chipmunks in 1990.
At first I thought it was a George Clinton/Funkadelic rare Christmas song from the late 1970's or early 1980's.

Alex's Christmas CD is alright. There are some good songs on it, but I'm not a big fan of this one. It sounds like a Christmas themed version of "Fake".

Do you remember the 1988 Christmas song by Alexander 'O Neal called "Sleigh Ride"? It had a catchy line: "Jingle bells, jingle bells, Santa's coming...".
The song was later covered in 1990 by the Chipmunks.

It's not all what I expected. I thought it was gonna be a slow, sentimental Christmas ballad, but instead we get a fast, dance tempo probably fit for the "Soul Train" line.

When I was younger, I heard this song on the Urban stations (V103, WGCI) in my market as the AC stations never played it. I liked it.

I like this although it's not type of Christmas song I'd expect from him. I guess the Fake beat was so good they had to use it again. :)
