Ryan Seacrest said that Maroon 5's first single (Makes Me Wonder) topped the "American Top 40" chart when it clearly did not. That bothered me.

Can someone fill me in on how the International Award works? Do you really have to pay someone, kinda like a Walk of Fame star?

The entire R&B/Soul category is a joke. All three of the winners are Pop artists, LOL.

She won because she deserved it... The "2007 American Music Awards" recognized Beyonce with the "International Artist Award of Excellence," which recognizes those artists whose popularity and impact cross national boundaries and is only given when there is a deserving recipient who is worthy of recognition for their accomplishments. Past "International Artist Award of Excellence" winners include Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart, Led Zeppelin, the Bee Gees and Aerosmith.

I'm so tired of people acting like Justin doesn't make R&B music just because he's white (I guess that's what it is). Songs like "My Love," "Until The End Of Time," "Chop Me Up," etc. are urban songs. What about them is pop?

As much as JT should be considered an RnB artist, Rihanna needs to be correctly categorized as pop. Umbrella, just because it had an urban appeal to it, was not RnB. Umbrella is the new standard in rythmic pop and SUAD is nothing but pop with almost an urban rock thing going on and then followed up by the formulaic pop ballad HTILY...next up is the dance/pop smash DSTM...NOT a single true RnB song in the lot...just throwing it out there...I like homegirl as much as the nest person, but just because shes black doesnt make her RnB/Hip Hop

WTH? It sounds to me like you haven't even heard "My Love." What makes it Urban? Timbaland production? A few years ago it could have easily been an 'N Sync song.

I was just so exhausted after watching the AMAs. It felt like it was 1 hour too long. And those commercial breaks never seemed to end. I liked some of the performances. Overall, the majority were decent. I really liked the ones by Beyonce/Sugarland (unconventional pairing that was quite nice), Mary J. Blige, Rihanna/NeYo, Celine Dion, Daughtry, Duran Duran, Queen Latifah (I knew she could sing but WOW!) and Alicia Keys up until that "dance break" that never ended. I normally like Fergie, but I didn't care for her medley this time around. In terms of the awards, I was happy to see Daughtry get 3 and Justin get 2. I was pleasantly surprised to see Rihanna, Carrie and Fergie get theirs also. I thought Jimmy Kimmel was not a good host at all this year. It seemed like he was trying too hard to be funny and it was obvious that it wasn't working. There were several times when it seemed like he had told his "jokes" wrong and it was overly obvious. So sad. :( The awards show was okay. It was much better than I had expected. I usually look through this thread while the show is airing in the Eastern time zone to get an idea of whether I might be entertained or bored to tears. I was only able to take a look at a couple pages so I watched it with no pre-judgements. I felt the performances sandwiched together like that at some parts of the show worked, but in others, it didn't. At the beginning, it shouldn't have been. Here's to hoping the Grammys are similar and/or are better.

Fox wins Sun.; AMA boosts ABC to second NEW YORK -- Jimmy Kimmel's ad-libbed hosting duties for Sunday night's American Music Awards boosted the ABC telecast slightly. Fox took Sunday's primetime thanks to a football overrun and strong episodes of "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy," while ABC took second place with its American Music Awards telecast that was up over last year's low. The AMA telecast averaged 11.8 million viewers and a 4.8 rating/11 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates released Monday by Nielsen Media Research. Final data won't be released until Tuesday, but it was up a tenth of a rating point in the demo from last year. It was the best total viewer numbers since 2004's telecast, when it aired on a Tuesday. The half-hour of the "NFL on Fox" gave Fox a head start in the adults 18-49 demographic, while CBS won in viewership for the night. NBC probably tied with ABC for second place in the demo with a blowout 56-10 drubbing of the Buffalo Bills by the New England Patriots, though it will be Tuesday before reliable numbers are published. Beyond the 20.7 million viewers between 7 and 7:30 p.m., Fox won the 8 p.m. half-hour with "The Simpsons" (10.5 million, 5.3/13) and didn't win but did well at 9 p.m. with "Family Guy" (10.5 million, 5.4/12). Fox (11.6 million, 5.3/13) won in primetime ahead of ABC (10.6 million, 4.2/10); CBS (13.5 million, 3.3/8); NBC (10.9 million, 4.2/10); and the CW (1.3 million, 0.5/1). www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3i587be3b0ca270435bd4962cc75a2ed8e

I would not be surprised if Matthew told the producers that the only way Beyonka would show up is if they gave her an award.
