Such an underwhelming record. There are like 3 songs I can stand out of that entire bunch. :(

I agree-This might be my biggest disappointment of the year. What were they thinking? The first single, btw, may be the best song on the album **eyebrow**

Isn't this a bit early for a leak?

Maybe it'll take a few listens to warm-up to, but so far it's not very good IMO. I shouldn't be too surprised, though... I figured things would change once they lost Ben.

I have to agree, this album is a huge dissapointment. With that said, I do like "Lithium" and "Sweet Sacrifice", the rest I'm not so sure.

Aww... is it that much of a disappointment? I was really looking forward to this album, too. :( Well, I may not be getting this after all.

This record so isn't gonna do well. I've heard most of it now and it is rather ... underground sounding. Actually, it sounds like the record you would go back and buy because you liked the big hit (Fallen in this case), but didn't sell well.

I listened two more times to make sure, but I wont be buying this and I have decided they do not deserve the name Evanescence anymore. What a huge drop for a band that used to be so good :(

It's called they lost what made them good - Ben Moody.

Yep-didnt want to be the one who said it, but its pretty obvious that the magic involved Ben and Amy...and probably more Ben. This just sounds like they tried to directly recreate Fallen except not as good and slapping on a Mozart cover to cover up the crap. Hope Ben continues to work with people-he is a talented man.

I always said without Ben the new record would suck but I was actually excited after hearing "Sober" which I thought was excellent. Anyway, I was right. It is pretty messed up the way Amy talks about Ben - I mean, he was responsible for their success. This new record isn't half as good, she should be appreciative. On their official board, Ben Moody topics are banned ... I mean wtf?

Question for the people who don't like the album, what were you hoping for? I think it's a little repetitive but so was Fallen--I really only got that album for "My Immortal" and the rest of it wore on me a bit. There are some cool instrumentals and Amy's voice has some really pretty moments. Not sure if there are any obvious singles on here but I'll have to listen a few more times before I decide, if I can stand the loud guitars over and over.

I was expecting something decent-something I could listen to. This is boring and uninspired. I will probably never listen again. By far my biggest disappointment of the year :( The pressure is really, really on the Killers now. If they suck ass, my musical year will be shot to hell.

This album is pretty underwhelming. What Fallen had were some decent hooks in their singles, like "Going Under" and "Everybody's Fool", while this album is seriously lacking some memorable hooks. I find it hard to differentiate one song from the next. I mean, I almost think this could be the album that preceded Fallen. :/
There's plenty of loud guitars. Some piano and strings thrown in from time to time. But that's about it.
"Call Me When You're Sober" is probably the most radio-friendly song of the bunch. "Like You" and maybe "Lithium" sound like single candidates right now.

I am so surprised people dislike the album. I love it... Sweet Sacrifice, Lithium, Lacrymosa, The Only One, Like You, and especially Good Enough are fantastic. It's kind of "more of the same" but the sound is definitely less commercial and I think it works.
What exactly do people dislike? If it's the similar sound that goes throughout the whole album, I don't get that because the tracks on Fallen were almost identical minus slight changes in melody. Don't get me wrong, I loved the album, but all the tracks sounded very similar. I think these songs have more life to them.
*shrug* I dunno. I'm just kinda shocked! I love the new album and to me, it sounds like a growth.

I know alot of other people who like it. Fallen had its weaknesses. No album is perfect.

I dont get how anyone could hear a growth. To me, it literally sounds like they had no idea what to do, so copied Fallen directly except threw in a few things to make it not so much a copy, but it didnt work and all the songs melted together into one generic mess. Maybe it will grow on me, but for right now, its terrible and a huge fall for a band that used to be so awesome. I really think getting a record deal destroyed them in some ways. Sure, they are mainstream now, but it killed the music.
