The Only One and Lithium are definitely potential hit singles.

I like the album a lot and I know I will like it more after listening to it a few more times. Very much what I expected from them!
"Good Enough" is my pick after the first listen. Great song!

From what I heard so far, I think it's okay. Maybe it'll grow more on me but I don't think it's bad.

I've listened to it 6 or 5 times already now I happen to like it as well. :o
"Good Enough" and "Lithium" have to be some of their best ballads to date. The "growth" I hear in this album is in the atmospheric programming and the melodies. Its not always one chorus repeating over and over.

I think it's a little repetitive but so was Fallen--I really only got that album for "My Immortal" and the rest of it wore on me a bit. There are some cool instrumentals and Amy's voice has some really pretty moments. Not sure if there are any obvious singles on here but I'll have to listen a few more times before I decide, if I can stand the loud guitars over and over. After one listen, I have to agree on all your points. Evanescence has a very unique sound, and I like it, especially for Amy's voice and the haunting intensity. But it's hard for me to listen to a whole album of their songs. They're a good band for the "shuffle" feature. There are some songs I didn't care for on first listen, and others that I liked ("Cloud Nine" for the interesting music and "Good Enough" for the beauty are 2 that stood out on first listen). I do think that "Call Me When You're Sober" is probably the best track, but maybe that's just because I'm the most familiar with it and the other songs will grow on me more. I'm going to have to give this more listens before I decide whether to buy the album, so I'm a little bit disappointed that I don't immediately love the album as a whole. I felt the same way about Fallen though -- it took me awhile to get into it, it's hard for me to listen to it all in one sitting, and yet I like it a lot if I hear a bit at a time. (Coldplay is that way for me too.)

I listened to it. I'd give it maybe 3/5 stars. I don't think it's as good as Fallen, but still not bad. My favorite is Lithium.

I have heard about half the songs on the CD and I like it. And it doesn't sound like Fallen to me at all. It sounds a lot different. Fallen was WAY more commercial. This one is just awesome.
BTW...Does anyone else think Lacrymosa sounds like it is directed at Ben?

Agree with the comment that Ev is more of a "shuffle" band... I like a lot of the songs, but its hard to listen to them all at the same time. EDIT: Granted none of the songs sound "the same" as some people have mentioned, and many songs have very interesting piano riffs.
After listening to the whole album I like these songs the most: 1)Good Enough (AMAZING, if this were shorter it could have beentheir "My Immortal") 2)Lacrymosa (also VERY good, the preview didn't lie) 3)Call Me When You're Sober (Great first single) 4)Cloud Nine (Very ethereal, her voice soars over every instrument) 5)Lithium 6)Your Star 7)Weight of the World 8)Like You
These were ok...
9)Sweet Sacrifice 10)All That I'm Living For 11)The Only One
Songs I don't like at all...
12)Lose Control (Too much talking...) 13)Snow White Queen
Definitely better than Fallen... I only liked 5 or 6 songs on that album.

The album is just good for now... Maybe it's a grower...
But I love:
Lithium Weight Of The World Like You The Only One Cloud Nine
These songs can be great singles, especially Lithium !

Amy Lee is an unappreciative person; the way she treated Ben Moody was fucked up ... well now we know what she capable of without him.

It sounds like an indie record that would NOT get underground praise. Sorry but if she wants people to take her seriously this was definitely not the record to make. Say Goodbye to Evanescence is the mainstream world.

Im going to give it another listen-I just am not willing to believe that one of my favorite new bands ever would release a cd as bad as I remember from my first few listens.

Say Goodbye to Evanescence is the mainstream world. It's an amazingly innovative record... despite it not being mainstream. I think people are just angry Ev would take such a risk, and I can understand if they'll lose fans because of this album because it's so different, but it's certainly not BAD. And I think Good Enough sounds a lot more like "Breathe No More" than "My Immortal"

Uh, how is this innovative or risky? It sounds exactly like Fallen except less original **confused**

Uh, how is this innovative or risky? It sounds exactly like Fallen except less original **confused** Listen to the piano riffs. Listen to the way the guitar is played in some songs. Listen to the unique chord progressions. Not only that... but a lot of the songs don't follow the usual formula of Verse, Chorus, Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Chorus that most songs do. It's all different and unique sounding... not less original than Fallen (which was mostly predictable loud guitars, some piano songs, and more melody). Usually mainstream is equated with unoriginal and Fallen WAS more mainstream. So I don't see your point.

^^I agree. I LOVE this album. And I think it sounds NOTHING like Fallen. Go listen to Fallen again people. Apparently you have forgotten what it sounds like. I don't think this sounds like it at all. I love this album so far. I have only heard 7 songs. But I like the all so far. Fallen sounded more like 1 track than this. The sounds more like Origin than Fallen.
