Is Carrie's the only song on the Christmas cd or are all the songs on this Christmas cd on there? I don't understand how Play MPE works. Do all songs on an album end up on Play MPE or is it just songs that are meant to be singles sometime down the road. I still don't think it's anything that major. It could make the Hot Country Songs Chart come Christmas time (maybe even break the Top 40 or Top 30), but I don't expect it to make Top 20 or Top 10, but hey, if I'm wrong...great. I'm thinking that last year, there was a Christmas song that maybe broke the Top 30 on the Country charts, but nothing more.

But there appear to be 5 new tracks (Carrie's Do You Hear What I hear, Kellie's Santa Baby, Blaine Larsen's Away In A Manger, Terri Clark's O Little Town Of Bethlehem and Sara Evans' I'll Be Home For Christmas). Of the 5 new songs, Carrie's is the only one on Play MPE and registered with Mediabase. However, Kellie's song is the only one currently available on iTunes.

Since the Opry appearances are coming up, here is a vid talking about what goes on broadcasting the Opry with Carrie mention at the 4:17 mark. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQzgjwfxApU

Since the Opry appearances are coming up, here is a vid talking about what goes on broadcasting the Opry with Carrie mention at the 4:17 mark. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQzgjwfxApUThanks for this and the Kix Brooks link, vinman! There is actually a Carrie mention earlier in the Opry broadcasting interview, too -- I think around the 2:20 mark or so? Pete Fisher is discussing how the Opry features the past, present and future of country music, and says that you can see Opry favorites like Porter Wagoner, Jimmy Dickens and Loretta Lynn and some of today's stars, like Martina McBride, Vince Gill, Carrie Underwood and Dierks Bentley. But anyway, so one of the things that I'm getting out of this interview is that the Opry's debut on XM is going to be on 9 October, the night Carrie is performing at the Opry ( ETA: Wait...the press release suggests the debut will be on 20 October, which is the 82nd Birthday Bash, but the DJs very clearly point to Carrie's Tuesday performance -- now I'm confused.)? It's a very cool thing that these different venues/media outlets (CMT/cmt.com/iTunes and now, the Opry/XM) are launching multi-platform initiatives with programming that features Carrie. It's a nice demonstration of how Carrie is viewed as someone who not only has appeal across multiple media platforms, but as someone who is expanding and can continue to expand the audience for country music. With all the exhortations for the country labels to adapt to the changing environment for music, it's good to see that Carrie is a go-to person for forward-looking initiatives. Thanks also for the clip of "Do You Hear What I Hear?" Sounds like the production will be contemporary pop, so like lyrichord, I wouldn't be surprised if this picked up spins on AC this holiday season (as well as Country, hopefully). Carrie sounds great! I love it when she reins her voice in, because her tone, control and modulation are wonderful.

It looks like the rumor about "The More Boys I Meet" is true. This was posted on CF: Carrie Underwood’s new album Carnival Ride won’t be released until October 23rd, but CMT Radio had the opportunity to preview the album last week. Carrie ended up with four co-writes out of the thirteen tracks on the album. The songs include “All-American Girl,” “Crazy Dreams,” “Last Name,” and of course her current single “So Small,” which is already number 10 on the Country Aircheck chart. As a surprise, Carrie adds a female’s perspective to Randy Travis’ classic hit “I Told You So,” on the album and you’ll even find a song on the album which talks about Carrie’s love for her dog. The album title comes from the last track on the album, “Wheel of the World.” Source - Y108.com

So if the CF poster who said that (The more boys I meet, the more I love my dog) was right, I'm more inclined to believe he/she actually does know random stuff. Another thing he/she posted is that Carrie's favorite track is "Twisted."

Awesome!! It is good when once in awhile, the rumors turn out to be true- in a good way. I love the dog song too! :) And I agree with the sentiment (sometimes)...lol
well it is october 1st. Tonight at midnight we should be able to get the xmas song off itunes, if all goes well. And hopefully- the promotion will start pretty soon.
I was hoping carrie would cohost one of the countdowns the weekend before her album release. That would be great promotion for Carnival Ride... Hopefully we will hear of more talk shows, etc, and satellite radio interviews as well.
Sirius plays the whole album the weekend before its release, so hopefully they will do so for carrie too.

It makes sense to me because some people will buy the cd just to get one Carrie song. $12 is better than $1. Someone else said that itunes didn't sell Bette Midler's Christmas cd last year until they did their Christmas store even though it came out in October.

hey guys - not sure if anyone else got the xmas cd today- but I got it at best buy this morning and I have been listening to it in my car all day, blasted at the max volume, singing along...LOL All the other drivers are looking at me weird cuz I am singing Christmas carols in october...lol
It took me 5 stores to find it. Did any of you have that problem? I can try to upload it if people couldn't find it. Let me know if you want me to.
She is so so amazing on that song- it is better then Martina's version even- and I love martina's too. But carrie sounds hauntingly beautiful and crystal clear...like an angel singing to the shepard boy...truly. I see big things for this song on AC and country--even christian radio- because it is a crossover type version, a little country, a little pop, a little religious. It has a wonderful guitar solo in the middle that makes it really pretty too.

guys-- nicki at CF got to hear the whole album today, since she works for a radio station! She couldn't say much, as they had her sign a confidentiality agreement. But she did say that it is as good as, or better, then Some hearts!!!!! And that it is more country, less pop this time, but that there is something for everyone, just like on SH.. Also- there are more upbeat songs, less ballads. She said her favorite song was The More Boys I meet, but she wouldn't say more.
She is an honest person who wouldn't say it wasn't good if it wasn't-- -so her opinion sort of matters to me. I am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry I don't by this for one second. no offense to you...Anybody can say that..... For somebody that knows, Is it possible that radio stations would get it this early? I'm pretty sure that this person that tsharky got the info from is reliable. She posts pretty frequently on carriefans, and she seems like an honest person (I understand that we really don't know anyone online, and we should never blindly trust someone that would put us in danger, but I personally think this person is telling the truth about hearing the album). I think it's possible that some radio stations have the album now. According to this person, her Program Director has the cd locked up in his room, and he won't let anyone get it out. It actually makes sense for Program Directors to get it early to me because they are in charge of what's played on the radio, and it would make sense for Carrie's management to make sure that the Program Directors have a copy of Carrie's album in advance because usually, Program Directors will play songs off the album during the week it is released (for promo purposes). Plus, it's not like we have a very long wait until "Carnival Ride." If you think about it, "Carnival Ride" will be out in stores before you know it. It's only 3 weeks from today (and, the album will most likely leak approximately a week before the album release date anyway....on CMT.com or some other site...so it's very possible we could hear the album online in around 2 weeks or so).

If you check back a few posts, there is a link to the Y108 webpage that says that they have also heard the album. That would seem to confirm that radio stations are get copies of the album or at least getting an opportunity to preview it.
