Today on June 26, 2006 Hilary Duff was on Regis & Kelly & this is how part of the chat went.
Kelly: "Any new cds coming out?"
Hilary: "Um ... I don't know. Maybe a new single coming out soon." (Hilary made a face that implied, "I know something you dont")
Kelly: "Soon?"
Hilary: "Yeah."
Kelly: "So you've been in the recording studio?"
Hilary: "I have a little bit."
So she's confirmed that she has been in the recording studio recording a follow-up to "Most Wanted." But that she's at the beginning stages.
Also Entertainment Tonight confirms new album.
Pop Star Online just confirmed that a track called Smile that will be on the upcoming Material Girls soundtrack will be on the album.
They also said the album is due in November!
First single off the album is called "Happy."
*UPDATE* According to Pop Star Magazine's official myspace, in the blog section it says that Hilary Duff's first single off her album due NOVEMBER 21ST is called "Play With Fire"

Yeah and the soundtrack has 3 new Hilary songs meaning Material Girls + 3 new songs. You might as well as make this the Material Girls Soundtrack Era.

No because the guy who filled in for Regis clearly asked Hilary is she has started work on a new album. Then Kelly asks if a new cd is coming out. She says she doesn't know but a new single might. & that she's been in the recording studio a little.

Probably the new single is the cover of "Material girl" right ?!..so is for a soundtrack, not for a new album... Sorry for the double post. She is releasing Material Girl but when Kelly asks her about the single. She said that she might be releasing a single soon. Material Girl is already confirmed. But she did say she has been in the studio. Obviously she wasn't talking about the soundtrack.

Not about the album but I'm seeing Hilary in Atlantic City, I wonder if she'll mention the new album/songs.

The first pic, she looks great. Much better hair color. She looks weird in the second. I just wish they'd scrap this "Material Girl" song and focus on giving Hilary a SOLO hit...like a big Hot 100 top 20 or top 10 hit...

So do I... lol
So what does everyone want this album to sound like? I want it to be a mix of songs like maybe some pure pop like Wake Up & some pop/rock like most of her self-titled album & Break My Heart. I also want a sorta r&b song & some more dance songs like Party Up would be nice.

I liked blonde waayy better on her. I also think she was talking about Material Girls, cause he asked about an album and she basically said no but a single. If she was releasing a first single, then she would be releasing an album too. She's been working on it since December though. Rumored title is "It Can't Rain All The Time" but I don't believe it. I really couldn't care less if she doesn't have top 10 hits, as long as her albums go platinum.

She didn't say no, she said she didnt know. Not necessarily sometimes people release singles way before there album. If you saw the interview you need to see her body language.
No she hasn't been working on an album since December. She was touring around then and didnt even finish until April/May. She had also said around that time in about 3 magazines that she wanted to take time on her next album & not rush it but that there wasn't any plans for it yet.
And you're right not to believe that "Can't Rain All Time" crap because it's not true.

^^ Okay, well if you're telling me she's taking a while and she didn't work on it much, then basically she is not releasing an album soon, right?
And it's not because she was touring that she wasn't working on her album. When I say "working" I include writing. That's what I read on a Hilary site anyways.

I never said when she was releasing another album. SHE's the one who said soon not me. But like you said the album will not be coming out this year. But I'm guessing early next year possibly March.
Anyway I dont want to fight with you. So what do u think the new album should sound like?

Haha, aw. I don't wanna fight either. Especially if we're both saying the same thing, lmao.
I think she needs to make a follow-up to her second album. To me that is by FAR her best work yet. It was well-written and pretty mature, not too cheesy but it was still catchy pop. She said she was going more "adult" right?
What about you? What do you think?

lol ok. Yes her second album was such a step up from Metamorphosis. I really want her to co-write at least 7 songs.
And I'm hoping the album has songs like her self-titled album plus maybe a few dance songs like Party Up. Please no more of that s**t called Wake Up & Beat Of My Heart.
Yea, I've read she wants to go more mature & co-write at least half the album. I'm also hoping she executive produces again. At least she has been writing plus started recording. So I think, so far, so good.
I also DEFINTLEY want more promo for the next album, it's a wonder that Most Wanted sold so well in the US when there was little promotion. There was double maybe more than double promotion in the UK just for the SINGLE. lol
OH, I also forgot to say that she had said in a magazine that she wants to have just a few writers like her & about 5 more people & she wants to just work with them.

I'm glad someone agrees with me that Hilary Duff was waaay better than Metamorphosis.
I AGREE! Wake Up & Beat Of My Heart were horrible! Break My Heart and Supergirl were way better, but I don't think they were as good as songs like Dangerous To Know or Shine.
I would like her to write mature songs as well! That would be really cool. I guess if she wants few writers, it's because she wants to write so that's good news. I want maturity though.
Was she the executive producer on Most Wanted? I didn't know!
Haha I know! When Most Wanted sold 1.3 million copies in the US I was shocked! Happy of course, but shocked! I hope her next album goes platinum too! & I'd like a top 20 hit for once! Haha.

yea but I wonder what will get her the top 20 she deserves. I know The Getaway would have probably been her biggest hit. But now there's no chance for that so unless Material Girl is REALLY good I only see it going top 30. And people are starting to wonder if Material Girl will even come out at all as a single.
Yea Metamorphosis was pretty pro-tooled while "Hilary Duff" was much more raw.
For real, she needs to write more mature songs. But the songs she's co-written arent to imature.
Yep she did executive produce Most Wanted so I hope that she doesn't take another step back & not help produce the next album.
Wake Up was a successful single for Most Wanted all over the world, while Beat Of My Heart flopped everywhere except for Italy & Ireland I think. Break My Heart would have done 2,000 times better than Beat Of My Heart. Even though, that's not saying much. lol I think if she releases the right singles then she will probably sell over 2,000,000 with her next album.
It's such a shame that her self-titled album had only 1 single. Fly was a flop but it still managed to sell really well (1,700,000). If she had released another song like The Getaway it would have gone over 2,500,000 probably just on that song.
I want this album to be a full 3 steps back up from Most Wanted. 1 step, for co-writing most of the songs, 2 step for that step that she went down after "Hilary Duff" was shelved & another step for bringing really catchy songs on & executive producing again. lol
oh & again I forgot to say that in that same interview that she said that she just wanted about 5 writers with her she also said she just wanted just 1 or 2 producers.

So I really want her to write and produce for this record. Um, and yeah, maybe sing live? To do it better, Hil, get some singing lessons. It better sound like "Fly" songs and not "Wake Up" type songs.

Teen sensation HILARY DUFF is all grown up and showing off a new, more mature look these days -- find out how the 'Cheaper by the Dozen 2' star juggles her career and love life as our VANESSA MINNILLO sits down with the mini mogul for an exclusive one-on-one interview! The 18-year-old actress and singer is set to make a big splash in the business world; she became the chief executive and designer of her own fashion and lifestyle company last year, and is set to launch a new fall line of merchandise ranging from clothing to room decor under her label "Stuff by Hilary Duff." "Basically, the line is for girls that are seven to 14," she says. "I've actually been doing it for awhile. This is the launch of the new stuff for fall; it comes out this month in stores." Hilary's "Stuff" can be found at Wal-Mart and Claire's stores. Hilary says the inspiration for the line was born out of her frustration as a young girl who wanted to dress up like her big sister. "When I was younger, all I wanted to do was dress like my sister [HAYLIE]," she tells ET. "There were no clothes that fit younger girls really well that were fashionable and not so generic. We really focused on the structure of everything and the way it feels, the color scheme, and making sure that there are categories for girls with all different kinds of styles." With products aimed at preteen girls, she's mindful of age-appropriate attire. "I love to keep my look fresh and fashionable, but I won't show a lot of skin," Hilary says. "With my 'Stuff by Hilary Duff' line, girls can look super stylish without wearing things that their moms will cringe at." New this fall, her first signature scent! "[The new fragrance] is a little more exotic," she says. "We didn't use so many flowers. The fragrance is called 'With Love.' It was cool because I got to design the bottle and all the packaging!" Clearly excited about her new line, Hilary says the best part of her retail business venture is the casual office attire. "Designing the clothing line was so exciting for me because I didn't have to show up and look a certain way to go to work," she says. "I didn't have to worry about doing an interview or people seeing me on camera." All that will soon change, however, and she'll be right back in the spotlight. Hilary is fast at work on a new album and will appear in the upcoming 'Material Girls' with older sister Haylie. The pair will play heiresses who are stripped of their family fortune. With her line of "Stuff," upcoming music and movie projects, Hilary says it's hard to make time for her boyfriend, GOOD CHARLOTTE singer JOEL MADDEN. "We really understand each other's schedules," she says. "I'm really focused on what I'm doing, and he is as well. I think we realize that if we want to be in a relationship -- no matter who it's going to be with -- it's going to be like this." Although she's just coming into womanhood, this is one hot Hollywood star that seems to have a solid head on her shoulders! Fortunately, Hilary and Joel have been able to get some quality time together lately. "Right now he's making a record and he's in L.A.," she says. "So it's nice that I can stop by and we can see each other. When we start traveling and touring and stuff, that's when it gets hard." For more with Hilary, watch tonight's ET! et.tv.yahoo.com/celebrities/15230/ET confirms new album in the works

Someone's not being honest here. Who is it? Hilary or her publicist? Kelly: "Any new cds coming out?" Hilary: "Um ... I don't know. Maybe a new single coming out soon." Kelly: "Soon?" Hilary: "Yeah." Kelly: "So you've been in the recording studio?" Hilary: "I have a little bit." Hilary is fast at work on a new album

She was being secretive in that interview but there's even MORE news on the new album. Here is what PopStarOnline just posted today.
***BREAKING NEWS*** Hilary Duff is recording a new CD that will be released in November! "Smile" from her new movie Material Girls will be on it, but "Material Girls" (her Madonna remake with sis Haylie) will only be on the new Hollywood Records CD Girl Next!
i'm a little confused though, because shouldn't the soundtrack for Material Girls also have the song? That was probably wrong. But I am totally excited about the new album & it seems that she has been recording since May.
