Why sit on so many tracks and not release them to ITunes and also sell them on your and your record labels websites???? What did Disaster end up hitting on raido anyways? I heard it a couple of times on our local Top 40 station in Boston when it was out.

^I'm pretty sure all the All I Want Is Everything material ended up on Can't Take That Away from Me. I want that Jumping Trains mixtape ASAP. Blackground has made us wait too damn long. What she had on CTTAFM is nowhere near the amount of tracks she recorded for AIWIE. Chad Hugo and Kenna alone had about 4 more tracks that are still unreleased from that project, along with Pharrell doing about 1-2 songs, Danja having about 2 more unreleased tracks, etc. She has about 4-5 albums worth of tracks that are in lingo. I meant to say all of the good tracks ended up on CTTAFM not all of the tracks that she recorded. Considering she started from scratch after AIWIE, it would make sense to put the good tracks on CTTAFM and not release the rest. All artists record more than what gets released, and there's a reason why the tracks that didn't appear on CTTAFM didn't appear. They probably weren't that great.

All of the average tracks were actually released on the mixtape. They were saving the other songs because they were more album and hit material. She released that mixtape with the intention of releasing the other songs on the AIEWIE album.

What movie is she going to be in? It's a movie called "G.B.F. (Gay Best Friend)." It's coming out next year. Anyway, she's slowly letting people know more information about the situation she's in:

Blackground may be shutting down their doors soon. The last album released on the label was Shock Value 2 in 2009. So she just may have a chance to go and get another deal very soon. Hopefully with the distributor label (or may we say ex-distributor) Interscope.

Poor girl. I feel sad for her situation. She's been fucked over so many times with that label.
What I don't understand is how she can afford funding for studio time? Out of her own pocked or what?

That's why Blackground is so eager to get this Drake/Aaliyah project off the ground; they're desperate at this point. I remember reading an article saying they had signed a digital distribution deal with someone to get their catalog uploaded to iTunes and the like but I don't know what's come of that.

I cannot believe there's no freaking time limit! That is the most awful thing about it b/c it basically means she's literally trapped there until they either get bought out or go bankrupt and shut their doors.
They're freaking idiots who don't deserve to be in business anyway, b/c they could have had at least some pocket change if they'd kept Aaliyah's catalog on sale. I'm pretty sure they still had a distribution deal when it stopped being pressed.

I agree with Cynthia about them keeping Aaliyah's catalog in distribution. They would probably have more funds coming to the label if they did that. At this point Barry and Jomo should just try and sell off a large percentage (half or more) of the label to the highest major label bidder because this whole situation with Jumping Trains and the Drake/Aaliyah record is ridiculous.

Is she still actively trying to find ways out of the contract?
It really doesn't seem like trapping her like this could be un-reversible.
At the same time, HOW did her mother just sign away her daughter's career to a label who even in 2003 had sort of a sketchy reputation.

this is so sad. what is blackground really gaining by keeping her hostage there yet not letting her release an album?

JOJO READIES ‘AGAPE’ MIXTAPE FOR DECEMBERJoJo doesn’t want to keep her fans waiting any longer. The pop singer is readying a new mixtape Agape for release next month. The title, which means “unconditional love” in Greek, is also the name of a puppy she adopted. The free project is set for release on December 20 and marks the follow-up to her 2010 mixtape Can’t Take That Away From Me, which spawned the single and video for “In the Dark.” “This mixtape is meant to be experienced when you have 27-28 minutes to go on a little journey with me and listen to some stories,” explained JoJo. “There are interludes, outerludes, random shit, my dad playing harmonica, and a conversation between my whole family at thanksgiving.” She is not holding back any longer. “Because I JUST HAVE NO F*CKS TO GIVE!!!!” she said. JoJo released the Noah “40” Shebib-produced single “Demonstrate” over the summer, while her third album is still awaiting a release date.

"We Get By" has been released. It's not as good as "Demonstrate," but it's cute. I like the music she's been doing over the past couple of years way more than the music that actually got released on her first two albums. It's a shame this music isn't seeing a proper release because of her label problems.

Listening now..not bad, fun enough. I really wanted Disaster to take off.. I never got Demonstrate as a (1st) single, but it got a lot of great reviews.

Good to see that she's working. I'm not crazy about this song, but hoping there's some good stuff on her mixtape.

Do mix tapes make any money or is just a way to create some hype for an artists next project?

Usually this is sad news, but for her, it's definitely good news. RCA, Interscope, Capitol, someone pick her up now!

Don't worry about her being signed it's just a matter of who now. She has been courted numerous times by people to sign but her contract was airtight. Out of Interscope labels both Zone 4 and Mosley Music Group wanted to sign her.
