I was actually expecting her to sound a lot more electronic then she does. I thought ITZ was much more altered compared to this album. And what kind of growth do you guys expect from her? I mean she shaved her head, had two kids, got married and divorced, all within 3 years. Music hasn't really been her main concern unfortunately.

Then again, this is expected. It is cool to have a love/hate relationship with Britney Spears. Madonna got the same flack for her voice, singing off key at concerts, and someone called her "Minnie Mouse on helium" before if I recall. But look, she is still here too and popular. What is wrong with just doing some catchy, modern, fun pop music? Nothing I say. Madonna actually had it worse IMO. They called her voice a "girlish hiccup" and that is from a rather kind review at that time. Madonna got a lot of flack for her voice until "Ray Of Light" that was when people started to ease up on her. But until then they bashed her voice so much. People even critize Kylie for her voice there was once a critic that called it so light that it's a step away from disintergrating. So I think she is in rather good company. She's been doing this for nine years now and as you said it's album no.5 I see nothing wrong with making dance music.

Entertainment Weekly MagazineReview: Britney Spears' new album...is hot!Amid a storm of drama, the pop star shines with a booty-bumpin' dance CD By Margeaux Watson The nasty custody battle. The hair-razing meltdown. The trips to rehab. The abysmal VMAs performance. Shall we go on? All of 25-year-old Britney Spears' recent setbacks suggest that her fifth CD, ominously titled Blackout, would fan the flames of her hot mess of a year. Well, brace yourself for the biggest shock yet: Blackout — a collection of well-produced, thoroughly enjoyable dance songs — may just put this once-celebrated pop star back on top. Spears has always been a performer who's valued image over creative output. It's interesting, then, that periods of introspection — albeit those penned primarily by hired hands — yield Blackout's finest moments. ''Piece of Me,'' produced by Bloodshy & Avant (''Toxic''), is a rump shaker that finds Spears venting: ''I'm Mrs. most likely to get on the TV for slippin' on the street when getting the groceries/Now, for real, are you kidding me?'' Later, on ''Toy Soldier'' — another fiery B&A creation, which echoes the sass and substance of ''Soldier'' by Destiny's Child — she blasts ''weak'' tomcats (like K-Fed?) to the beat of a lively military drumroll. For the most part, Spears puts up a brave front by relishing her newfound independence. That is, until a chink in her armor appears on the heavy-hearted closer, ''Why Should I Be Sad.'' Produced by the Neptunes and written by Pharrell Williams for Spears, it's a deeply personal, midtempo groove — the closest thing to a ballad on Blackout — that unfolds like an open letter to her babies' daddy. ''I sent you to Vegas with a pocket full of paper and with no ultimatums on you/I thought, What could separate us,'' she sings. ''But it just seemed that Vegas only brought the playa out of you.'' Of course, we know all too well that Spears has a little playa in her, too. So it's no surprise that she flaunts her fondness for late-night carousing on fluffy dance tracks. Take the ubiquitous ''Gimme More'' or the shameless ''Freakshow'' (co-written by Spears), where she coos, ''I'm bout to shake my ass/Snatch that boy so fast/Make dem other bitches mad.'' Her seemingly insatiable libido is likewise the driving force behind Blackout's preponderance of breathy come-ons, such as ''Get Naked (I Got a Plan),'' ''Perfect Lover,'' and ''Ooh Ooh Baby,'' which she also helped to write. Poetry it's not. Still, there is something delightfully escapist about Blackout, a perfectly serviceable dance album abundant in the kind of bouncy electro elements that buttressed her hottest hits (''I'm a Slave 4 U,'' ''Toxic''). Say what you will about Spears' personal life, but there's no denying that the girl knows how to have a good time. I'm not expecting growth on this latest album...the girl hasn't been in the right state of mind these past three years. But definitely a solid pop record. And reviews are fairly positive thus far.
Britney's greatest growth came with ITZ.

My Lord, I haven't watched TRL since 2003! Britney's audience is much older than TRL. I don't expect her to do well on that countdown any longer.

Those TRL veiwers must have the attention span of a gnat, the oldest video on there is barely three weeks old. This does bold well for her. Usually if an artists debuts in the top 10 of TRL that usally means the artist will go platinum because the younger audience will go out and buy the album.

TRL is so screwed up. It, just like the VH1 countdown fluctuates WAY too much. Ashley Tisdale was #1 a few days ago. Now she's #7.

TRL is so screwed up. It, just like the VH1 countdown fluctuates WAY too much. Ashley Tisdale was #1 a few days ago. Now she's #7. TRL changed the way they rank the countdown. Tisdale still has the #1 vote for TRL itself, but now TRL factors in streaming, digital downloads, and radio as well. Damen or whatever that loser's name is explained it on Monday's show when Tisdale was co-hosting.

You would need to purchase a copy of "Blackout" on iTunes to get those Bonus songs. You can't download the bonus songs individually.
