I read on CF that the rumor is whoever wins FVOTY will be setting a record tonight. Hmmm... Fact: rumors do not help the nervous system. I really have so many things on my to-do list, but I'm too frazzled to do anything. If I drink a Red Bull, will I be able to fly?

I read on CF that the rumor is whoever wins FVOTY will be setting a record tonight. Hmmm... Reba would set a record for most times as FVOTY Martina would do the same. Carrie, I think would be the first to get that award for her first eligible nomination and then repeat. I could be wrong and please someone correct me if I am cause I'm just guessing.

Gosh I always get so nervous before these awards shows! And it makes no sense since I am sitting safely on my butt at home, in pjs, with no worries...lol Imagine if we actually had to perform or were nominated for something- not sure how carrie deals with the nerves. ?! I am nervous on her behalf I guess...lol

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that sales don't determine the greatness of ANY album, regardless of critical acclaim or whatever. plenty of albums that were brilliant didn't sell at all and other albums which were utter crap sold a ton. I'd be surprised if Carrie didn't win FVOTY, pleasantly surprised because I'm rooting for Reba. Reba had one song in the eligibility period, and a duet at that. That is going to give her a nomination and a win. Ok. I guess next year we'll give it to Ann Murray for, oh let's see, how about just because. I wasn't aware that a certain amount of material had to be released in a time period to be considered for this award. It seems that some Carrie fans are very dismissive of Reba's OVERALL contribution to country music and IMO if she were nominated every year, regardless of the amount of material released I'd venture to say she deserved the nomination! Reba paved the way for Carrie and almost every other current female country artist... it's a tad disrespecful (and greedy) to say that Carrie is the ONLY artist who deserves the award this year. as for that picture, I hope that's a coat she's wearing cuz that is hideous

Apparently it was cold last night as martina had a coat on too. I love reba too- and I am glad she is nominated. If she wins I won't be mad. But I think what people are saying--- is that you can't just give awards based on lifetime achievements--- as otherwise, the same people would win every year, even if they didn't have an album out or didn't even tour, or have songs on the radio. It is technically supposed to be based on what you accomplished this past year..... But that won't stop people from making sentimental votes anyway. I personally love reba's duets cd- it is pretty incredible. So maybe she will get nominated again next year, after the album has been out a full year. I just think people are saying, in this past year, she only had one song out. It is a true statement. Next year she will have several songs out off that album, so she should definetly get another nom then no matter what happens tonight.

I wasn't aware that a certain amount of material had to be released in a time period to be considered for this award. I guess you never saw the category is called Female Vocalist of the Year, then? There is an actual eligibility year considered, and thus songs and albums released within that year are considered. The only material Reba released in that year is "Because Of You." It would be ridiculous for her to win Female Vocalist of the Year based on one duet. That isn't meant to take away from the influence Reba has had, but the award isn't Best Female Career or Most Influential Female. It's called Female Vocalist of the Year. If the award was about career retrospective, then only legends would ever be nominated and win.

Someone always paves the way for someone - I think you will find it was the likes of patsy cline, dottie west, loretta lynn, june carter cash, etc that actually paved the way if you want to be picky

I'm off to class... You know you love me!! xoxo

Folks, I get that there might be nerves about tonight but that's no excuse to call out other posters. If you have to start off a post with "I wasn't going to reply to this..." that's a pretty good sign you should take a deep breath and count to ten and maybe not post at all.
