Though this award has lost its value over the years (and much more so tonight), it is cool to be able to say that Carrie is a 4x AMA winner.

I think Mikey include last year's AMA.
She won 3 tonight-- sweep of her nominations: Country Female, Country Album, and Favorite Artist :)
ETA: And lest my excitement be misconstrued, I place more value on the country awards and Grammys, but it sure is fun watching this live and seeing Carrie win... 3 times.

And I had no idea who the other dude was. They didn't seem super thrilled carrie won, but maybe that is how they always are....lol

EEEK!!
This is one heck of a night," Underwood said, upon receiving the latter award, a little overwhelmed to be picking it up from presenters Scott Weiland and Slash.
Backstage, the Velvet Revolver rockers gave her their endorsement.
"I think she's pretty amazing, and she's got a great voice and she's also not bad to look at," Weiland told reporters.
"Cute and bubbly," added Slash.
Underwood returned the praise a little later, saying she knows the words to all the band's songs.
PLEASE let there be a pic!!

Daughtry, Underwood win big at the AMAs ‘American Idol’ alums clean up with three awards each; Timberlake takes 2 The band Daughtry accepts the Favorite Breakthrough Artist Award during the 2007 American Music Awards held at the Nokia Theatre.
LOS ANGELES - Chris Daughtry may not have won “American Idol,” but his band, Daughtry, earned high enough honors at the American Music Awards on Sunday to share the spotlight with Carrie Underwood and Justin Timberlake.
Daughtry made good on its three nominations, winning favorite pop-rock album for “Daughtry,” as well as breakthrough artist and adult contemporary artist.
“Wow. I can’t believe we’re in the category with Justin Timberlake and Linkin Park. It’s pretty awesome,” the band’s frontman said. “I want to make sure we thank the fans again because you guys made this all possible for us.”
Underwood, who did win “Idol,” matched her three wins at the Country Music Association Awards this month with three trophies Sunday: favorite female country artist, favorite country album for “Some Hearts,” and the T-Mobile text-in award.
“Thank you fans for going out and buying this album. You guys are amazing,” she said. “This is one heck of a night.”

Idol Veterans shine at American Music Awards
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote: LOS ANGELES, Nov 18 (Reuters) - "American Idol" veterans Chris Daughtry and Carrie Underwood swept the American Music Awards on Sunday, a ceremony that changed its voting rules to mimic the fan-based element of the juggernaut talent show.
Daughtry's eponymous rock band won all three categories in which it was nominated. Country singer Underwood won both of her races, as well as a prize determined by text messages.
Daughtry, one of four acts with a leading three nods each, won for favorite breakthrough artist, favorite adult contemporary artist, and favorite pop/rock album.
"No matter how good our music may be, you guys make us who we are and we thank you for that," Daughtry said to the fans, as he accepted his first award, for breakthrough artist.
The awards show's producers changed the voting procedure this year. About 1.2 million people voted online at a Web site established by the show's broadcaster, ABC, a spokesman said. By contrast, 74 million votes were cast by telephone for the grand finale of "American Idol" in May.
Before this year, American Music Award winners were decided by a poll of 20,000 music buyers. Nominees are still determined by retail sales and radio airplay data.
Daughtry was a finalist on the fifth season in 2006. His band topped the U.S. charts this year with its self-titled album.
Underwood, who won the fourth season of "Idol," went to No. 1 last month with her second album, "Carnival Ride." Earlier this year, she won the best new artist award at the Grammy Awards.
Her American Music Award honors were for favorite female artist and favorite album, both in the country category.
"This is one heck of a night," Underwood said, upon receiving the latter award, a little overwhelmed to be picking it up from presenters Scott Weiland and Slash.
Backstage, the Velvet Revolver rockers gave her their endorsement.
"I think she's pretty amazing, and she's got a great voice and she's also not bad to look at," Weiland told reporters.
"Cute and bubbly," added Slash.
Underwood returned the praise a little later, saying she knows the words to all the band's songs.

www.eonline.com/news/article/index.jsp?uuid=3d1200f1-3b0a-4fe5-8422-f904ec825340Apparently all those Chris Daughtry fans were just biding their time, while those Carrie Underwood fans just won't quit.<Snip> As will Underwood, whose fans, it turns out, are all thumbs.
The 24-year-old Idol and Grammy winner also tripled her pleasure, scooping up awards for Favorite Country Album for the long-legged Some Hearts and Female Country Artist, as well as the T-Mobile Text-In Award, which not only means that she is the fans' overall favorite artist of the year, but that she'll probably be getting a free phone, as well.
