^ First of all, the general public doesn't pay attention to certs. The people who care about them are people who know how they work. Secondly, even though music clubs aren't what they used to be, they do still exist. So, Carrie's sales are higher than her actual Soundscan total. For all we know, she has sold 500k in music clubs. I read a report not too long ago that had music club sales still being up to 10% or more of sales. wow, defensive much? I wasn't dissing Carrie, it's the system I dislike and always have. But according to your theory how can we be sure ANY CD is "really" a flop cuz they could've sold a crapload from music clubs the sound scan numbers are the ones that count, plain and simple. and the general public, when they see in articles 7x platinum, they'll ASSUME the album has sold 7 million copies and it hasn't...that is my point...it's misleading but it's the system and everyone benefits at some point.

wow, defensive much? I wasn't dissing Carrie, it's the system I dislike and always have. I didn't see anything hostile in jenglisbe's posts, and I don't think he was assuming you were dissing Carrie. He was just stating his opinion of the sales, which he is certainly allowed to (and I think he has a point...Soundscan doesn't count all sales). You seem to be the one being the most defensive, especially using your infamous eyeroll. There were no eyerolls or !!! in his post. It always seems to be you causing all the drama around here.

www.cmt.com/news/articles/1581168/20080207/underwood__carrie.jhtmlSo the 50th Grammy Awards ceremony will finally go ahead on Sunday (Feb. 10) after the striking writers guild agreed to a waiver to agree to not picket. Seems a strange way to strike, but I think the writers feel that musicians are not the enemy. So be it. Anyhow, I look forward to the evening, as much for the pageantry as for the unexpected. The music is now and then inspired, and sometimes a great moment will creep in. I'll be very curious to see what transpires with the musical trio of John Fogerty, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis. That's a lot of years lived and a lot of musical memories up there on the stage. And some totally unpredictable personalities. The Aretha Franklin tribute may be memorable. Asking Herbie Hancock to perform a tribute to Gershwin seems to me totally goofy when he's nominated for album of the year for his recorded tribute to Joni Mitchell. The Beatles tribute will no doubt be over the moon. And totally overdone, to a crisp. But that's all right. It's what you expect. Country music, as usual, will get short shrift in performances on the telecast. I think Vince Gill was right to not perform a one-minute song, as he was asked to do. Carrie Underwood will do well. And maybe one or two others. <Snip> And in the song of the year category, Carrie Underwood (who won best new artist last year) has her "Before He Cheats" competing with songs by Plain White T's, Corrine Bailey Rae, Winehouse and Rihanna (featuring Jay-Z). I like Underwood in a walk for this. Vegas agrees right now.In the country categories, in best female country vocal performance, we have Alison Krauss ("Simple Love"), Miranda Lambert ("Famous in a Small Town"), LeAnn Rimes ("Nothin' Better to Do"), "Before He Cheats" and Trisha Yearwood's "Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love." The winner has to be "Before He Cheats."

Things are shaping up for this to be a CARRIRIFIC weekend!!!
I am sooo impressed by this 7x plat certification!!!! IT IS AMAZING!!!
I think its safe to say that if this was released at the peak music selling times in the 1990s, this would be a diamond album. WOW

The Grammy commercial I just saw showed a clip of "So Small" when mentioning Carrie's name, so that officially ends using commercials to determine what she will perform.

Wow--- those magazine scans are incredible! Great article! thanx vinman! I guess we can officially put an end to the chase speculating since carrie just confirmed they are casually dating here and there- but nothing serious. That is what I thought was going on. So cute!
I do hope they go to the grammys together. Chase would fit in totally since he is a celeb too- and it would be easier for carrie, since he would mingle with everyone easily.
Guys--- do you have any idea if the msn.com site that is going to host Clive Davis' party, will be streaming live? The article said it would be up on teh site on the 10th-- but I was thinking, that could be at midnight on the 10th, etc? I will miss seeing it live. There is nothing on the site yet......so I still have no clue. At least we can watch wireimage to see what carrie is wearing, and if she is performing.
