Buddy is indeed a good rnb song. Plus the video is good as well. It's very throwback. It reminds me of the 90's when u had those nice good ole cookouts lol.
His cd will do very well I belive. He's on 106 n Park countdown as well. At first I was hearing "Buddy" was just gonna be a promo single. But then it started doing so well so now its his single. Good for him... We need his kind of music in todays dry rnb market!!!

But his single is doing all the talking for him. Its constantly gaining airplay and his video is on 106. Im pretty sure that he'll be on shows performing this week or next. His album will debut pretty darn well.

SHARING THE ‘LUV’www.eurweb.com/story/eur31662.cfmMusiq is ready comeback back off the bench and is warmed up for his new disc. He is currently putting the finishing touches on his fourth offering due in March titled “Luvanmusiq.” The first single from the disc is called “Buddy,” described by the singer as the sequel to his first hit “Best Friend (Sunny).” Industry-ites are describing the track as a breath of fresh air. “When I heard the track, I thought it was a nice ode to the old school. I’ve done my best to bring attention to the old school in one way or another – not to relive it, but just to remember it and appreciate it. When I see a whole bunch of artists that come out and don’t give respect to the old school, it’s a little frustrating because it’s almost like a smack in the face. So, when I heard the track, it felt good and I wanted to take a more creative approach. "There are so many more things to do out there. Back in those days, people weren’t so readily trying to be like everybody else, they were basically trying to be themselves. I think the perspective should get back to that type of thinking because that’s where all the good stuff comes from.” Musiq has good stuff coming on March 13 when the new disc is expected released. “There are a lot of storytelling and hand-crafted songs,” he said of the album. “I’d like to think that I put together a body of work that’s made of a lot of substance; enough for people to listen to all the way through and not want to skip from song to song.” For more on Musiq and the new disc, check out his site at www.musiqsoulchild.com. After a quick first listen I can say that "Buddy" is the best track, even though a couple other songs are pretty cool. I'll be getting this tomorrow in the mail, can't wait to get it out the box and play the actual disc. I don't know why, but I still need the physical experience to judge a record properly, as opposed to just play files on my PC...

Buddy is a good lead single and I am so surprised that radio has responded so favorably to such an old-school tinged track such as this. With that said, I'm interested to see how well his CD will do because it's been over 3 years since his last joint.

I'm actually more interested in Maxwell's return this year, but they have a similar style.

If Maxwell decides his material is ready for release. My God, how long is he taking?

Aside from Buddy my favorite is definitely Makeyouhappy. Sounds like a Dr. Dre production...although I highly doubt it was him.

They have some snippets on Walmart.com of the whole CD. From what I heard, it's my kind of music. I have all 3 of Musiq's previous CDs, and judging by the snippets and definitely the first single, B.U.D.D.Y. which takes some time to grow on you, I will be buying this when it comes out this week. It's good to see some true R&B coming back. On the real

New York Daily News articlePlayas have no place on the albums of Musiq Soulchild. On "Luvanmusiq," the fourth CD from this Philadelphia-based R&B star, he always approaches the women he's interested in with a litany of shy "excuse me's," "pardon me's" and "would-you-mind's." So call him the anti-R. Kelly. Not only is Musiq fed up with games, he enjoys talking to women about religion, politics, even his feelings. Now if we could just get him to put spaces between the words of his song titles - including "teachme," "betterman" and "makeyouhappy." Since 2000, the man who grew up Taalib Johnson has wed reliably earnest words to open-hearted alterna-R&B tunes. He often relies on outside writers for the latter. This time he got some of his best tunes yet, especially "betterman," which mines an R&B/rock groove, and "makeyouhappy," which sounds like '80s Cameo. Ballads dominate (naturally). The best have the feel of minor Stevie Wonder - which is still major stuff compared with most of the R&B hack work around these days. Musiq sings in an unfussy manner, putting faith in his creamy middle range to tell the story. If Musiq's lyrics paint him as genuine "husband material," his music offers R&B fans something they'll want to commit to just as eagerly.

I don't have the booklet handy, but I'm pretty sure Jazze Pha didn't produce any song on the album.
