Super Furry Animals reveal new album titleThe follow-up to 'Love Kraft' is out in August Super Furry Animals have titled their forthcoming album 'Hey Venus!'. The record, the follow-up to 2005's 'Love Kraft', will be released at the end of August. Frontman Gruff Rhys told NME.COM earlier this year to expect a "speaker-blowing" LP, though no further details have been made available at the moment. Super Furry Animals are strongly tipped to be playing the Pyramid Stage at this year's Glastonbury Festival on Sunday June 24. They are also confirmed for this year's Get Loaded In The Park bash in Cardiff on August 25.

I am looking forward to their new album, although I still have not listened to Gruff Rhys' solo album yet.

Super Furry Animals star reveals full details of band's comebackGruff Rhys on 'Hey Venus!' and some exciting live news Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys has revealed full details of the band's new album 'Hey Venus!' to NME.COM. And the star also brought news of comeback live dates ahead of their appearance at the Glastonbury Festival next month. The band will play four nights at Cardiff's notorious Clwb Ifor Bach in June. The band last played at this venue prior to signing to Creation over 12 years ago. SFA will then follow up those shows with a one off gig at London's ICA on June 19, before heading for Glastonbury to kick off a summer of festival dates. The record, the follow-up to 2005's 'Love Kraft', is released on August 27 by the band's new label Rough Trade. It's preceded by a single, 'Show Your Hand', on August 13. Explaining the title, Rhys revealed that the album initially started out as a concept album based around a character called Venus. He stated: "At lot of the songs have the same central theme - following a young woman called Venus moving from a small town to a big metropolis and following her adventures. "Some songs link up to that story more than others, but some were left off the record, they'll be on the next one, which we're working on already. It started off as a concept, but then we chose songs for their merit rather than their themes." The tracklisting for 'Hey Venus!' is as follows: 'The Gateway Song' 'Runaway' 'Show Your Hand' 'The Gift' 'Neo Consumer' 'Into The Night' 'Baby Ate My Eight Ball' 'Carbon Dating' 'Suckers' 'Battersea Odyssey' 'Wolves' Speaking about the Cardiff dates, Rhys said: "Usually we go on a tour of Wales or a tour of the Western Isles of Scotland to get warmed up for touring properly. "Usually by the end of the tour to work out how to play the songs we've partied so hard, cos we're excited to get back on the road, we're too knackered for the actual tour - we're half-dead already by that time. "So we thought we'd just play a tour of Cardiff so we can have a lie-in every morning!" The band's full list of summer shows is as follows: Cardiff Clwb Ifor Bach (June 11-14) London ICA (19) Glastonbury Festival (Other Stage) (22) Kent Lounge On The Farm (July 13) Coventry Godiva Festival (July 14) Lovebox Festival (Dublin and London) (21) Cardiff Metro Weekender (August 25) Connect Festival (31) Jersey Live (September 2) End of The Road Festival (15)

Pretty much one of the few bands of the Britpop era that still tickles my interest these days. And notice how I mentioned "Britpop era", for I think they never really fit the Britpop canon. And all the better for them in the long run, as we can see now.

Super Furry Animals bring the sunshine to GlastonburyThe band preview their new album Super Furry Animals mixed songs from forthcoming album 'Hey Venus!' with old classics during their Glastonbury Festival slot today (June 22). The Welsh band, performing on the Other Stage, played three songs from new album 'Hey Venus!', including forthcoming single 'Show Your Hand' . There was also still time for singles such as 'Northern Lites', which was played in new guitar-driven style, 'Ice Hockey Hair' and perennial set closer 'The Man Don't Give A Fuck'. Frontman Gruff Rhys dedicated 2001 hit single 'Juxtapozed With U' to the "all day breakfast bar, which has disappeared, it becomes a kebab shop in the pm". The set was: 'Slow Life' '(Drawing) Rings Around The World' 'Golden Retriever' 'Northern Lites' 'The Gateway Song' 'Runaway' 'Show Your Hand' 'Hello Sunshine' 'Juxtapozed With U' 'Receptacle For The Respectable' 'God! Show Me Magic' 'Do Or Die' 'Ice Hockey Hair' 'The Man Don't Give A Fuck' SFA frontman Gruff Rhys now goes on to play the festival twice as a solo artist - on the Avalon Stage tomorrow (23) and the Park Stage on Sunday.

The album leaked two days ago. ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------ Super Furry Animals launch their letter of protestWelsh band attack nuclear power Super Furry Animals have launched a public letter of protest to "remove hidden subsidies for nuclear power". The band have responded to the announcement by the International Energy Agency regarding proposals to build new nuclear power stations in the UK, funded entirely by the private sector, without any government subsidy. Super Furry Animals have revealed examples of how the nuclear industry have received subsidies, calling on the general public to educate themselves further on 'the many headaches with nuclear power' by clicking onto the website mng.org.uk/gh/no_nukes.htm . In a joint statement, the band added: "Future generations are being made to pay for the costs arising from nuclear waste that will be dangerous for thousands of years. "This represents a very large subsidy from those people, yet to be born, to the nuclear industry of today. Before any new nuclear power stations are built in the UK, the first two hidden subsidies must be removed and the problem of long-lived nuclear waste must be solved."

Hot CD. I own Love Kraft (which was how I got into them) and also their singles collection. This CD is my favorite so far, although Love Kraft is still awesome and is a very close 2nd.
