This is the debut album from the UK-based artist. It will be released in early February in the UK. A U.S. release date has yet to be determined.

"Relax (Take It Easy)" was a sort of single. It managed to chart on the Billboard/Dance Club Play chart. "Grace Kelly" is the current single.

I heard "Grace Kelly" on the radio today, and really liked it. It sounds SOOO much like Freddie Mercury/Queen, it's almost eerie.

I heard some stuff off his Myspace, and he def. sounds a lot like Freddie Mercury. The horns remind me of the Beatles a lot too.

I'm not sure how he'll do in the states. We can't seem to get the real poppy musicians and bands to catch on here. Scissors Sisters, McFly, Robbie Williams, and stuff like that, just isn't catching on which is odd.

Pop sensation Mika has revealed Simon Cowell told him his songwriting was turd.

The 23-year-old No.1 popstar said, "I managed to get a demo to him before he became a household name. He hadn't done any of the Pop Idol stuff.

"When I walked in and played my song, he said, 'You've got a good voice but your songwriting... you may as well not bother.'"

He added: "Honesty is a good policy. That's how you've got to survive. Rub your hands together and start again."

Mika is No.1 in the charts. Higher than everyone else. Hooray for Mika! Up yours Simes etc...

British pop sensation MIKA is keeping quiet about his sexual orientation, branding rumours of his homosexuality "pointless". The 23-year-old, who's set for superstardom in the US after being spotted by music mogul TOMMY MOTTOLA, insists his fans don't need to know his sexual preference to enjoy songs like his current British number one GRACE KELLY. He says, "I never talk about anything to do with my sexuality. I just don't think I need to. People ask me all the time. But I just don't see the point. In order to survive I've kind of shut up different parts of my life, and that's one of them, especially this early in my career. "I don't really feel that it's necessary to know in terms of my music. Homophobia is so gay. The only way to really stick it to corpulent, retarded thunder c**ts like Chris Moyles is to deftly snatch language back out of their sweaty, piggy, sausage fingered grasp. Say it loud and say it proud: "This pizza is delicious! It's totally queer!", "This is the most bent pint I've ever had! It's going down a treat!". "This album is demented! It's totally gay!"

This album is demented. It's totally gay. It's gayer than having a cock stuffed in either ear. It's gayer than doing the Hoovering in a tight vest listening to a Giorgio Moroder album. Before putting this album on there was snow everywhere, now the sun's out. What a gay day.

So, if you own a radio or TV, you'll already know Mika by now. A Lebanese, Royal Opera trained fliberty-gibbert (I actually don't know what his orientation is; it's not that important and I'm not going to guess but he is what my nan would have called "a bit of a whoopsy") bestriding the charts like a mighty colossus with his awesome single 'Grace Kelly'. Lashings of imperial period Queen, glam Sparks, 'I Believe In A Thing Called Love' Justin Hawkins falsetto informing a song that is so 70s FM friendly, you kind of can't believe someone hasn't written it already. Luckily elsewhere on the album the madness does not abate and we have the spangled calypso, backbeat pop of 'Lollipop'. 'Love Today' and 'Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)' are the closest he comes to the pure pop disco nous of the Scissor Sisters, with the latter being surely ear marked as a future single.

When the tempo is slower on certain tracks such as 'My Interpretation' and 'Any Other World' the initial comparison is unavoidably that of one to Robbie Williams or Elton John, but there is none of the dead-eyed cynicism of the former and none of the bellowing oafishness of the latter. So this combined with the might of the newly emergent Paul St Paul and the Apostles suggest that we're going to be enjoying a summer of polysexual, quasi-operatic, big production 70s MOR pop. And that's the gayest thing we've heard all year.

A terse The Country Girl-esque noire element opens up the doors to a flighty glam/pop swirl, returning for bracing interludes to signal the comeback of the off-kilter Mika, in the form of 'Grace Kelly'. The power of the Polyphonic Spree, the wistfulness of Jim Noir and the je nais se qua of Queen meet up in the musical orbit of this flighty ten track wonder.

'My Interpretation' stands toe to toe with The Magic Numbers and The Mamas & The Papas, to send you flying back to the times when your spleen was vented with deep seated vocal projection and a glorious, ranging melody. The androgynous vocal command is complemented, at intervals, by a stern and sweet female element.

Unfortunately, Mika goes a little too far in his vocal exuberance during 'My Interpretation', whereby he strains a little too much and the instrumental razzmatazz doesn't help to avoid the plummet into a pit of falseness. When things take a dip, all you need is an electro ladder and a bit of a WHAM spring, some labouring reflection and you are back into a cushy pop groove, 'Love Today'.

It is not surprising that the centrepiece of the album, 'Any Other World' is pure theatrical in large Michael Crawford portions and is an earnest number that veers just the right side of sentimentality. Using an orchestral and choral element to change the pace and mood throughout. Also, it says to The Killers that the phrase; "Smile Like You Mean It" is for general use and can be used to better impact when it is meaningfully built up to.

The tongue-in-cheek lullaby style is used to devastating in the tale of a respectable man coming out of the closet, only to go back in and then yeah, come out again, 'Billy Brown'. This is Mika's most serious offering, lurking beneath a horn fuelled vibrant bounce. 'Big Girl (you are beautiful)', could have been picked up from the floor of a the Scissor Sisters' rehearsal room and it oozes zap and spirit, as Mika's elastic vocals are stretched in numerous directions to pull off a non-judgemental and inoffensive jaunt.

The latter band's influence also seeps through in 'Stuck In The Middle'. The early dip in form is well and truly left behind and, Mika is continuing to prove that we have a fresh and bold impresario ready to push the boundaries of pop music, hopefully out of the reach of any X Factor contestant.
