I hope sales stay consistent for a while and then this thing has a very serious chance to be the #1 seller of the year.

8/2 Billboard charts:
Meanwhile, after three non-consecutive weeks at No. 1, "Tha Carter III" slips to No. 2 with a 15% sales decrease to 105,000.

Wow. I'd say this album has sold exceptionally well for a rap artist.

Wow. I'd say this album has sold exceptionally well for a rap artist. LOL. You must have never heard of Eminem, DMX (back in the day), Jay-Z, The Notorious B.I.G., 2Pac, Dr. Dre, Snoop, Kanye, T.I...

Even though Lil Wayne has dropped out of the top 10 (at least for now), this is the 17th consecutive week that five or more songs from the album have been listed on Hot Digital Songs.

Lil Wayne Already Recording 'Tha Carter IV'His latest album, "Tha Carter III," has only been out since May, but Lil Wayne is already recording its follow-up. According to his blog on ESPN.com, the rapper is in the studio working on "Tha Carter IV" as well as a new mixtape. The latter, "Dedication 3," will fall under DJ Drama's "Gangsta Grillz" series and "you can expect [it] real soon," Wayne says. In a nod to his well-recognized prolific output, Wayne says immediately after "Dedication 3" comes out, he'll re-release it "with 20 extra songs for free on my Web site." "Tha Carter III" is far and away the best-selling album of 2008, having shifted 2.5 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Lil Wayne is also collaborating with T-Pain for a highly anticipated duet album, "T-Wayne," which is slated for 2009. "We've got three or four songs we've finished," T-Pain tells Billboard. "They don't really have titles. We're just doing music and however it comes out, it comes out." The singer says the tracks won't sound like his current Wayne-featuring single, "Can't Believe It," but will have the collective flair shown on tracks like "Got Money." Wayne will take a break from recording later this month to play the Voodoo Music Experience on Oct. 25 in his New Orleans hometown, and will also drop by Power 105.1's Powerhouse concert three days later in East Rutherford, N.J. www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003869964

More WEEZY Updates
The 2.5 million people who have bought Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III, the best-selling album so far this year, are probably true fans. The 2.9 million who have downloaded his hit "Lollipop" may have just liked the tune.
The all-time record for one-week sales was set in the last week of December 2007, when 467,000 fans paid to download "Low" by Flo Rida featuring T-Pain. That's a hefty total, but four albums have exceeded that sales figure in 2008 alone. (Tha Carter III sold more than twice that in its first week.)
Tha Carter III has sold 2,489,000 copies in 16 weeks. No Strings Attached, released in March 2000 when sales were at their dizzying peak, sold nearly that many copies (2,416,000) in its first week.
Let's take a closer look at these two year-to-date lists-albums with the most total sales and songs with the most paid downloads. Wayne is one of six artists that are in the top 20 on both lists. He has the #1 album and the #2 song.
So, let's settle this, what's more important these days-the album or the song? The numbers don't lie. Music fans are consuming far more songs than albums. But I'd still rather be Lil Wayne or Coldplay than Metro Station or Ray J. I think their greater album sales make them far better bets to still be in the forefront five or 10 from now. It's a matter of degree of commitment to an artist. If you buy an album, you're invested in that artist-literally and figuratively.

Lil Wayne Announces He's Expecting A SonMC breaks news onstage at BET Hip-Hop Awards. ATLANTA — Weezy F. Baby is having another baby. Lil Wayne announced Saturday night during the BET Hip-Hop Awards that he's having his first son in just a "couple of days." He was onstage accepting the Lyricist of the Year Award when he told the crowd at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center of his impending bundle of joy. Not even three quarters into the show, Wayne had already jumped on the stage with DJ Khaled and a community of friends to help his mouthy friend accept an award; joined Common, T-Pain and Busta Rhymes during N.E.R.D.'s "Spazz"; and won the People's Champ Award. Another Weezy highlight was his collision of skills with T-Pain and Ludacris during "Can't Believe It" and "Chopped & Screwed." With all this commotion, you'd think Wayne would be relishing the spotlight. Nah. He told MTV News earlier in the day he'd rather be in the studio. Next on his plate is the release of a new album, Tha Carter III. Think it's already out? You're correct. However, the tireless New Orleans mic fiend says he's dropping a new version of the album with all brand-new songs: He said clearly that the record is not — repeat not — Tha Carter IV. Wayne also won the MVP of the Year award, beating out Jay-Z, DJ Khaled, T.I. and Kanye West. He dedicated the award to his daughter. Wayne's final words when accepting the award were, "I got a son about to be born any day now, so shout-out to him. Pray for me."" www.mtv.com/news/articles/1597409/20081018/lil_wayne.jhtml

Eh. If you read that post, it's not technically a re-release but another Carter III with all new songs...weird.

How amazing! I can't wait...but it almost sounds too good to be true.
I'm sure the label is going to like like 3 new songs or something.
Still nice to hear it will be re-released. I will def. be getting a copy.
