Come In From The Cold - Marc Broussard/Justin Tocket/Radney Foster) 30 Second Clips: www.amazon.com/S-O-S-Save-Soul-Marc-Broussard/dp/B000PFU9T2/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/102-0975347-4136142?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1179093514&sr=8-2-- I'm a little disappointed he's not releasing a CD of original songs this time around considering "Carencro" is one of my favorite CDs. Hopefully he'll put another CD out of his own material next year.

He's amazing. I watched his concert from South by Southwest on DirecTv and it was so good. I wish he was releasing an album of his own material too. I had Carencro for about six months before I actually listened to it and after I did, I couldn't believe I waited that long. It's so good. The one original song, "Come In From The Cold" is INCREDIBLE though. He sang that on the show I watched, it was amazing.

Thanks! I've been waiting for some new material from him. I went to a concert of his late last year, and I know he has some new songs, but he did mention that his label was lagging on releasing it...

I love him and he's one of my favorite artists... but I like his own music, not this stuff. I love the last original track though.

It is good to see his duet with Toby Lightman is on the short list for Grammy nominations. The tour he had with Toby this summer was a great tour.

A revelation of the soul Charlene Howard releases powerful, personal sophomore album Trevis R. Badeaux tbadeaux@theadvertiser.com
Her voice is filled with soul, pain, joy, faith, fun, sorrow, promise and a wisdom characteristic of a soul much older than she is. Charlene Howard wraps all this in a tight bundle of hope that comes through song after song, no matter what the subject matter of the lyrics may be. It's a magic one cannot learn or earn. It's part of her DNA, honed by a lifetime of happiness and heartache, of dreams fulfilled and nightmares that became her waking reality.
Acadiana music fans may recognize Howard from stints with Fifth Avenue, T.K. Hulin and Smoke, Hub Cats and other Hub City bar staples. She stepped out on her own two years ago with My Christmas Angel, a compilation of holiday favorites on fire with a raw, raspy vocal that gives each a new identity and life.
The release hit the streets three years after a tragic event that changed Howard's life forever and led to a Soul Revelation, the title of her latest 11-track release that hits streets this holiday season.
Howard married the love of her life, Kevin Folse, in November 2000. The couple had one son, Joshua, about two years into the marriage. In September 2002, the dream turned to nightmare as Howard returned home after performing an evening gig to find her husband unresponsive.
Folse was 34. Joshua, barely six months old.
"I quit singing until 2005. I'm not sure why," Howard said. "I was just devastated. Maybe I equated being gone singing to not being there for Kevin that night. After, I just wanted to stay home and hover over our son."
Eventually, Howard returned to the passion that eased her pain since childhood. Singing didn't take the sting away, didn't make the loss any easier to deal with. Instead, it gave her an outlet for the emotions she couldn't put into words, for the pain that left her without a song in her soul in the years after Folse's death.
My Christmas Angel is dedicated to Folse's memory. Soul Revelation takes things a few steps further, with Howard opening her soul to pour out the heartache and longing inside on five original tracks. Kevin's Song, near the end of the roster on the track line-up, may be one of the most personal.
Listeners get to sit in on an intimate conversation between a grieving wife and her late husband, whom she longs to see, to hold in her arms once more:
"Words cannot describe the way I long to tell you how much I love you. Here is a song for you. I'm wishing I could hold you just one more time."
"I miss him so much. I'll never be the same again until the day our souls meet," she said. "I miss him more than any words could describe. I know things will never be the same. My life has changed. He was the love of my life. He was my answered prayer."
Howard recorded Soul Revelation at Dockside Studios in Maurice from September 2006 to January. Notable friends pitched in, including blues slide guitar genius Sonny Landreth on the David Egan-penned Smile and Change the World by Eric Clapton and Babyface. Carencro native and Island Records recording artist Marc Broussard trades vocals with Howard on Best of Love Turned Blue, another Egan original.
The Destiny of Faith Christian Center Church choir appears on John Lennon's Imagine with Howard and "Chip" Anthony. The choir also lends its talents to Wash These Tears Away.
Soul Revelation has a little bit of something special for fans of several musical genres. At the end of the day, Howard said she hopes those who give it a listen or come out to see her perform live take away a simple message.
"Times are hard for everyone. Everyone has pain and adversity," she said. "There is hope, always. Hope for the hopeless, always a brighter side. It may not seem like it at the time. Anyone can do anything with a little help from above."

We're very happy to announce some June tour dates for Marc and the band ( full details are below). There are a few festivals in there as well as a few headline dates. Joining Marc and the band on the headline dates will be none other then Sons of William. These shows are on pre-sale right now at Marc's Fan Ticketing Site. Don't forget, you can bundle your pre-sale tickets with a copy of Marc's new EP, Must Be The Water and/or a copy of the live show you're attending all for a nice little discount.
There may be a show or two added as the summer unfolds, but this is the bulk of it. We know that there are many parts of the country that Marc's not been to for awhile. We hope to have Marc in Europe for a bit in July and if all goes as planned we'll have a much larger, national tour in the Fall. The boys have just finished recording tunes for the new album which we hope to have out later this year as well. You'll likely hear some of the new music at the tour dates in April and June.
Help us spread the word about these shows! We have a bunch of great ways you can help us spread the word about these shows. First off, next to each date on the tour page on Marc's website we have a show specific poster and flyer that you can print up and hang around town. Secondly, you can invite all of your friends on myspace and facebook to these shows. It's through the ongoing support of all of you that Marc is able to continue doing what he's doing - as always we thank you for the support.
For those of you who just received your first tour update email from us the other night we've reactivated this list and we hope from this point forward you'll get consistent reminders whenever we add a date to Marc's website. If you'd like to be added to this tour update list please click here and enter in your email address where it asks for it.
See you on the road!

Broussard sticks close to his roots with musicBy Peggy Ussery Published: June 4, 2008 Not even six years old, Marc Broussard learned the song “Johnny B. Goode” with his dad. The Chuck Berry tune famously tells the story of a poor country boy from Louisiana who had a knack for playing guitar. It’s Broussard’s earliest musical memory. His father put him on a stage that weekend, and he loved every minute of it. “I was ready to go,” Broussard said. “I was born to do what I do.” Now 26, much of Marc Broussard’s music mixes blues and rock. It’s music Broussard’s deep baritone was made to sing. He will perform Saturday on the alternative stage at the BamaJam Music and Arts Festival in Enterprise. Broussard grew up in Carencro, La., a small town just outside Lafayette. His father, Boogie Kings member and Louisiana Hall of Fame guitarist Ted Broussard, was a big musical influence. Broussard and his father co-wrote the song “Home” off his first album. “He exposed me to some really great music,” Broussard said of his father. “He also allowed me to be a kid at the same time.” Since his 2004 debut with “Carencro” — named for his hometown — Marc Broussard has continued to draw attention and new fans. He followed up “Carencro” in 2007 with “S.O.S.: Save Our Soul,” a collection featuring remakes of soul classics from R&B icons like Al Green, Stevie Wonder and Otis Redding. He released his first EP with Atlantic Records in February. The title track, “Must be the Water,” was used earlier this year as the theme for TNT’s on-air promotions of the 2008 All-Star games in New Orleans. The full-length album comes out Sept. 23. He’s got a following among the 20-something college set, but the musician said he welcomes anyone to his music. “I’ve always prided myself on the fact we could cross generational barriers with my music,” Broussard said in a telephone interview with the Dothan Eagle. “I welcome all comers. I like the opportunity of being able to bring families together with my music.” Listening to music, after all, is what he does with his own family. Broussard and his wife have two boys and a girl, all under the age of 6. Home is still in Carencro, where Census figures put the population at just over 6,000. Broussard travels for extensive periods of time, but his schedule has also allowed him to stay at home with his family almost non-stop since November. He cherishes the time — picking up his kids from school, listening to music with them and shopping at Wal-Mart (a task he was doing during this particular phone interview). “It’s made me the man I am today and because of that made me a better performer,” Broussard said of having children. Being away from family is difficult, but Broussard said the pros outweigh the cons. Life on the road showed Broussard how much family meant to him, which is why he keeps his roots near his hometown. “For the most part, I didn’t realize how important it was to me until I started traveling,” he said. Growing up around music, Broussard started to find his own “groove” around the time he turned 19. He’s still trying to find out who he is as a man and musician. But for now, he’s making music he likes and wants to hear. He may find himself yet in the music he prefers — that gritty, dark world of soul and blues. “I think it just really comes from the heart,” Broussard said. “It’s music that’s written by real people. Their deepest, darkest passions for the whole world to see.”
