I'm pretty sure there is a thread, it's probably just not showing up in the search. It can be pretty faulty sometimes.

Awww, that's poop. I'd be surprised if there wasn't one either but alas.
This CD is AWESOME! I named it my #1 album of 2005 and it ranked again in my Top 10 of 2006. I absolutely love it. KT has some awesome songs, even aside from the album's four singles. I can't really say enough good things about it. Unfortunately, I'm also over the CD now (I still love it but I'm no longer obsessed) so I can't come up with anything original to say about it other than that it's great and that KT deserves her success.

Other Side Of The World has been on the Triple A chart for about 4 months now so if there is one sent to Hot AC and/or Chr, it'll probably be that one.

Does anyone remember KT's comment on Katharine McPhee's Idol performance of Black Horse & The Cherry Tree? For some reason, I remember her saying that she thought the rendition was cheesy and embarrassing but I can't find a link or quote. Now I'm wondering if I'm just imagining it.
Anyone know?
Thanks.

Well, she was the same person that said she wanted to thank Kat. SO, I dunno, LOL.

I remember someone talking about that. Someone posted it somewhere where KT apparently said something sarcastic along the lines of like "Hey, wouldn't it be so cool if I performed the song on my knees? How cool would that be?"

Thanks for confirming, I think that was it. I remember when I heard the comment it struck me as very "Nancy Kerrigan," if you know what I mean. Her "Disney World is so corny" remark that soured everyone's view of her. A couple of my friends said they liked KT and I brought up her remark about Idol. I remember whatever it was she said having the pompous air of "OMG Yes, her cookie-cutter rendition trivalized my art which is oh so sacred!" and I remember thinking "Get over yourself" and not liking her after that. Otherwise, I think her music is pretty decent and might have liked her if her better-than-thou persona hadn't overshadowed everything. But now I can't find the quote ANYWHERE and wonder what she said exactly. -BPK

She has also been quoted as saying that she'd like to thank Katherine for helping to jump start her career in the US or something. I think she definately considers it a good thing now. I think she also referred to her original quote and what she meant but I'm not sure. I forget where I read that.

it's always not good to take peoples comments out of context. I would hope KT was humbled and thankful for what AI did for her career, which is give her one.

Platinum is platinum however you look at it. You go platinum but you sell a million copies. If you "sell platinum", you've shipped a million copies from the label to the stores but not sold to customers. Now, if you say you sell the equivilant of going platinum, then you sell a million copies despite not officially going platinum or having already done so, as is the case with KT. ;) It's all in the certifications. lol At least that's my interpretation but it really doesn't matter in the end. lol

My understanding is that she wasn't overly happy that it was done at first but then later she was when it got her song more noticed. I think she was more displeased with the whole AI involvement than anything though. Sometimes it takes a firsthand experience to change one's opinion of something.

Billboard.com:
ARTIST: KT TUNSTALL
SINGLE: OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD (Relentless/Virgin Records)
Thanks to the surprise runaway success of KT Tunstall's debut, "Black Horse & the Cherry Tree" -- originally launched as a setup for "real" hit "Suddenly I See" -- Virgin found itself in the enviable position of starting the new year with a platinum Grammy Award-nominated artist. Third single "Other Side of the World" is less polished vocally yet delivers a handsome, relaxed acoustic performance, spit-shined with Don Henley-esque guitars, atmospheric midtempo sway and an imminently singable chorus that gently lifts the song to the clouds. "Other Side" has already spent 20 weeks one triple-A (adult alternative album) radio, and certainly will click on mainstream radio as well.
