The label didn't push anything beyond the second single so I consider those sales respectable.

Not bad, but not a success either 3rd single is not in view I guess ... Yeah, I'm wondering when they'll announce the summer tour dates. Toni's got her autobiography out in May 20th, so that could bring some promo (talk shows), while they had a positively-reviewed run in Broadway's "After Midnight." I wish the label would push "Where Did We Go Wrong" a bit more, that, or just move on to the 3rd single.

In a perfect world 'Let's Do It' would be as big a hit as 'Hold On, We're Going Home'.

Universal restructures Def Jam Recordings, Island Records and Motown Records labelsBy Chris Talbott, AP Music Writer Universal Music Group has announced a major restructuring, splitting Island Def Jam into three stand-alone labels as Barry Weiss resigns as chairman and CEO of the label's East Coast group. A Tuesday news release says historic labels Def Jam Recordings, Island Records and Motown Records will once again become independent operations, effective immediately, while Weiss explores starting another venture with Universal. Lucian Grange, UMG chairman and CEO, says "we're positioning them to recapture the uniqueness of their brands" in the news release. The move comes 15 years after the three influential labels were consolidated in 1999 and as hip-hop pioneer Def Jam celebrates its 30th anniversary. Island Def Jam has been home to some of music's top stars, including Kanye West and Justin Bieber. The other imprints in the Island Def Jam group will be reassigned to the new stand-alone labels. Universal executives were not available for comment. The label announced a number of changes due to the move. Steve Bartels, who was president and chief operating officer of Island Def Jam, will become CEO of Def Jam. Dion "No I.D." Wilson and Kyambo "Hip Hop" Joshua will run the label's A&R department. Ethiopia Habtemariam, currently a senior vice president of Motown Records and head of urban music at Universal Music Publishing Group, will be Motown's new president. The label will be part of the Capitol Music Group and operations will be moved back to Los Angeles. David Massey will lead Island Records and will expand the label's A&R and support operations. The news release also says Island Def Jam's former head of A&R Karen Kwak will be promoted to the new position of executive vice president A&R, U.S. Recorded Music. Grange praised Weiss in the news release, calling him a "terrific music executive who led our East Coast labels during a critical time of transition."

I'm gonna need a 3rd single. Well according to her interview with ABC, a "2nd" single will be out soon (makes me wonder what WDWGW was).

Toni seems like such a nice person. It's so sad that she's faced so many obstacles in her life and that she's still carrying around guilt from such a long time ago.

Rollercoaster would make a good single, but we NEED Sweat! If they plan to release rollercoaster as a single it should be first because once sweat is released everything else will seem medicore. But I think if there is only one more single it needs to be sweat!

Her memoir is a very interesting read; kind of hard to wrap my head around the kind of childhood and upbringing she had considering her personality and who she is today but I love her candor and attention to detail.
Also, Sweat would be the perfect summertime record for Urban AC.

THE VIEW:
Gotta love the fact that she's doing a bunch of promotional rounds right now!
She'll be on Bravo's "Watch What Happens LIVE" tonight and then The Queen Latifah Show tomorrow morning!
Also, someone's uploaded footage from her Valentine's Day concert in Hawaii:

Her memoir is a very interesting read; kind of hard to wrap my head around the kind of childhood and upbringing she had considering her personality and who she is today but I love her candor and attention to detail. Also, Sweat would be the perfect summertime record for Urban AC. Got my copy yesterday and ended up finishing it in a few hours. Overall, I enjoyed it. Being a longtime Toni fan, I had known a lot of the stories she mentioned in it, so there weren't too many shocking revelations. I agree that the writing was pretty candid, and I didn't realize how much guilt she had throughout the years concerning her sisters. Also, nice to read her clear the air about her two bankruptcies, her DWTS run, her relationships to Curtis Martin & Keri Lewis, in addition to how much religion has affected/shaped her life. PLUS, damn that Barry Hankerson! Didn't realize he almost ruined her career like he tried to do with JoJo's as well. It's not the best autobiography I've read, but it's a nice retrospective on her career and I'm glad she finally has one out now.

It's a truly good read. In addition to her talking about the music business she really spends quite a few chapters talking about her childhood.
