Babyface is talking of doing a new solo album and Toni needs to be doing the same. Bbayface (in an interview) said that Toni is also recording an album. There's a debate going on on her forum on who should she work with. ;)

I wouldn't mind another duet album. But I need new Toni music either way.

Do you think Toni made any money off the duet album or just got to keep her advance money for the project because it did decently in sales and probably didn't lose any money.

At the very least she made money from pubishing, because the 3 singles were all co-written by her and she wrote on the majority of the songs on the album. Including "I Wish" all by herself.

I think her and baby face should do more together. She has released 3 solo albums since her last Grammy win back in 2001 and they did nothing for her career and didn't even garner her any Grammy nominations. This one album managed a big urban Ac hit and a Grammy win. I personally didn't like the album but it seems to be working for her. She and Babyface need to be the new Ashford and Simpson or Marvin Gaye And Tammy Terrell and make this work. I was upset she wasn't singing at the Stevie Wonder tribute with Babayface as we'll.

I'm still so happy about their Grammy win...and for Best R&B album. Yes! I think they should do a follow-up, but the expectations will be a lot higher. If Toni does a solo album next it needs to be produced by babyface. It also needs to have a similar sound (Urban AC) as LMD. I wouldn't mind 2 pop/ac leaning mid-tempo/ballads. But 3/4 of the content need to be Urban AC type of material.

I understand MTAW and Pulse not being nominated. However, I think Libra wasn't nominated due to label politics. While it's no Secrets or her Debut, it got more praise than the Heat and MTAW. If she had not been fighting with her manager and Blackground I think it would have gotten a nomination (no win though). If I recall correctly the label didn't even submit the album to the nomination committee??

People people people. A win with Babyface doesn't mean she needs to to make another album with him. I like LMD but it sounded so dated. She is still (relatively) young and should experiment with her RnB sound. Maybe make an alternative RnB album. No Pop/Hip hop though. She has all her lifetime to make albums with Babyface. She can continue doing that after her 50s.

She can continue doing that after her 50s. Yes, I actually agree. BUT, this is the sound that radio wants from her. Her experimentations have failed (mostly because she tries generic hip hop and dance). Her fans AND radio expect to hear "another sad love song" " ...man enough" or "unbreak my heart" from her every time. she won't get a large budget or big backing from ANY label. big producers wont invest quality material in her because she can't deliver large scale commercial success anymore. She's tried working with unknown producers and the material is weak. The only person she seems to have magic/chemistry with is Babyface. I think they need to experiment together. That would probably turn out a few gold pieces. personally I love ALL of her material including I Heart You (lol). I would love for her to do a jazz album or Norah jones folk like album. The only semi-relevant R&B artists/producers/writers that she could collaborate with for a different sound would be Alicia Keys and Miguel.

The last thing Toni needs to be doing is chasing radio trends (again). Although I personally love all of her albums, she doesn't need to be rocking the boat in terms of her style and sound at this point in her career; these Urban AC jams that Babyface and co. lace her with will be her bread and butter.

She needs to experiment to appease the critics and the Grammys. If Beck, Herbie Hancock and Santana can do it so can she. Aim for that album and record of the year now Toni. P.S: I do see some more Grammys in her future if she makes that gospel song/album with the Braxtons.

She's got all her life to do that. Its time she took some creative risks (and by that i don't mean become commercial). Look at Mary J, her London Sessions didn't do that well commercially but wait and watch her rake in the Grammys next year.

Toni doesn't strike me as that kind of musically adventurous type and I don't think she'd have that kind of creative time around here encouraging something along those lines. Babyface wants her next solo album to be an album of standards.

I think it'd be in Toni's best interest to stay in her lane of UAC but a standards album seems like something she should do 15 years from now. I don't want to hear Toni on a DJ Mustard beat but I think a mix of the last album with Babyface and some of the more contemporary ballads that Tamar gets would suit her really well.

She's added another tour date: the San Diego Jazz Festival during Memorial Day weekend! Other artists that weekend include Maxwell, SWV, R. Kelly, Erykah Badu, Anthony Hamilton, KEM, and Eric Benet! www.sandiegojazzfest.com/

^^ You forgot to mention that she is working on a new album and said that a single will be released this year.
I am happy that she is working with people other than Babyface this time.

Toni looks so luscious. The short hair just glows on her.

I'm glad she is working on a new album. I wonder who she is working with? Is she still with Motown/IDJ?

^^^ Although i wish she would go back to Epic/LaFace. As much of a scumbag he is, LA Reid is the only one who knows what sort of songs Toni should make.

While he was directly responsible for "He Wasn't Man Enough" he bombed on More Than A Woman with that whole "appealing to the younger generation" crap. LA is very hit or miss.

I get why it was such a maligned project and why Toni disregards it today but I loved More Than a Woman.
