Oh she ate Hit The Freeway . A Better Man ALONE >>>. One of the best records she's ever done period. HTF is my favorite uptempo single of hers behind HWME.

More Than A Woman is really good IMO. Hit The Freeway, A Better Man, Rock Me, Roll Me. Not a single bad track.

Yeah, I really do adore MWAW as well. Still love "Rock Me, Roll Me" so MUCH! The album made me lose a little interest in her, but I gained it all back with Libra. That said, I LOVE Selfish, Rock Me Roll Me, and Always and really like a lot of the other tracks.

I get why it was such a maligned project and why Toni disregards it today but I loved More Than a Woman. To me, it's one of her best 3 albums. Much better than Pulse & The Heat imo. "Selfish", "Do You Remember When" and "Tell Me" are still my jams.

Pulse is her weakest in my opinion. And Libra can be quite boring but my version contains Suddenly-that song is everything. And these different opinions about her albums just made me realize how strong her discography is.

I cannot find the version of Libra with that song on it. I used to have it and someone stole it from me.

When MTAW was first released I thought it was subpar. But I was comparing it to Secrets and her debut. Some of the tracks on MTAW are stronger than the Heat. My favorites in order are:
1. Selfish 2. Rock me Roll Me 3. Do you remember 4. A better Man 5. Give it back 6. Hit the freeway 7. Tell Me
The main reason this album didn't do well is because LA Reid got mad at her for getting pregnant. I remember him boasting about how hot the record was and that he had a large promotional budget ($675k) for the project. A month later after Toni announced her pregnancy he shut it all down. Despite the lack of promotion it sold like 440k.

I can get behind the album being underrated.
But I will not put this above The Heat. Fairytale alone tops anything on More Than a Woman.

"The Heat" was soooooo boring to me. I cant believe they didnt put "whatchu need" on the album or release "gimme some." Those 2 releases alone couldve helped save that album and her career. She was primed to be on the levels on Whitney and Mariah before they mishandled that album.
The singles shouldve gone something like: "He Wasnt Man Enough" "Gimme Some" "Whatchu need" "just be a man about it" "The Heat"

Damn what coulda shoulda been. Anyway, I like the singles you picked. We have the same ones, but a slightly different order. 1) He Wasn't Man Enough 2) The Heat 3) Gimme Some 4) Whatchu Need 5) Maybe 6) just be a man about it. I would also throw out I'm Still Breathing as an AC only single. at that time, good AC singles helped sell records. Plus she had done well with AC during her debut and secrets era.

She was primed to be on the levels on Whitney and Mariah before they mishandled that album. The singles shouldve gone something like: "He Wasnt Man Enough" "Gimme Some" "Whatchu need" "just be a man about it" "The Heat" I think it was already too late by the time "The Heat" released. Her shit with LaFace stopped her for releasing albums at the peak of her career and by 2000 she was an eight year old act facing completely different music trends. On the other hand someone like Mariah had 8, 50x platinum albums and 13 #1 singles when she was 8 years into her career. Its a shame that she only managed to release two album at her peak and at a time when her kind of music was popular. Celine Dion also milked the 90s for all it was worth and saw a sharp downfall by the time it was 2002, the exact same time Toni started failing to chart well. So i blame LaFace for not only ruining Toni's career but also for ruining TLC's chances of becoming bigger than they were.

More Than a Woman and Libra are her best works in my opinion, followed by her debut.

I've never been able to get into More than a Woman. I think Secrets is her best album, followed by Libra and then the debut. Those are the only albums of hers that I enjoy as a body of work.

The only album of hers i dont enjoy much is "The Heat." it's not a BAD album its just not as amazing as her other albums for me but I still play it to this day. Its hard for me to rank her albums because I play them ALL regularly depending on my mood but if i had to rank them....
1. Secrets 2. Pulse 3. Toni Braxton 4. Libra 5. More Than A Woman 6. The Heat

"Just Be A Man About It", "Maybe", "Never Just For A Ring", title track, and "The Art of Love" are essential Toni cuts though.

Never Just For A Ring should be known as her signature song.

I don't love any of her albums anywhere near as much as her first two, and there was a major decline in quality following The Heat, but her only album I truly don't enjoy is Pulse.
