Lupus is a very painful/take it day by day disease and how it affects one person can be different to how it affects another. Now with that being said, I think Toni's comment about it being part of the reason for her filing bankruptcy is ridiculous. I hope she feels better nevertheless.

Clearly, she doesn't mean Lupus itself is what skyrocketed her debt.

Yeah...I don't think she is saying it was just lupus, but when your sickness prevents you from fulfilling contractual obligations I'm sure it'll cause some financial stress. Also, she didn't find out she had lupus until after her pericarditis diagnosis right?

R&B singer Toni Braxton forced into LA hospital with ‘minor health issues’ from Lupus :'( LOS ANGELES — Singer Toni Braxton has been hospitalized in Los Angeles. The R&B performer says in a Tweet on Friday that she’s been hospitalized because of “minor health issues” related to Lupus. A spokeswoman confirmed the hospitalization but had no other details. “But no worries!,” Braxton wrote to fans. “I will be out any day now.” The 45-year-old singer of “Un-break My Heart” revealed two years ago she has Lupus, a potentially deadly autoimmune disease that killed Braxton’s uncle. She also suffers from a narrowing of the blood vessels in her heart. Braxton said in a recent “20/20” interview that doctors told her the Lupus diagnosis meant her performing career would likely be diminished and the disease helped push her into a recent bankruptcy. THIS => "and the disease helped push her into a recent bankruptcy." Yeah, it caused you to have between $10MM and $50 MM in debt. Good grief. Toni has such a beautiful voice (one of my all time favorites), but she is a total mess. If you open your eyes and pay attention you would find that the sentence says that Lupus HELPED push her into a recent bankruptcy, which is true as she was sued for not fulfilling her contractual obligations due to her illness. Seriously people need to get their facts straight before they start bitching.

Yes, the illness is what caused her to cancel her show and in turn be liable. I do not see an incorrect statement. One of the top reasons people file for bankruptcy is due to medical reasons.
I do wonder what happened with the insurance? Did it not cover anything.

First Trailer For Lifetime's Interracial/Interfaith Romance 'Twist Of Faith' Debuts (Toni Braxton, Mykelti Williamson)by Tambay A. Obenson January 31, 2013 2:30 PM It will be one of 3 movies headlining Lifetime's Black History Month celebration - Twist of Faith, starring Toni Braxton, Mykelti Williamson and David Julian Hirsh. It's changed titles twice - first it was called A Moment In Time, and then it became A Narrow Bridge, and finally settled on Twist of Faith. Synopsis:Jacob Fisher (Hirsh), an Orthodox Jewish Cantor and amateur songwriter who resides in Brooklyn, New York, witnesses the senseless murder of his wife and three children. Catatonic, Jacob walks out on his Jewish mourning ritual, leaving behind his Jewish garments, wallet and keys. Abandoning his identity, he wanders aimlessly, hoping somehow to understand his tragedy. Fortuitously, he lands in Brent, Alabama (population 2,500), where he is embraced by Nina (Braxton), a single mother and the lead singer of a small gospel choir (an unlikely finalist in the competition to determine the best gospel choir in Alabama), her Uncle Moe (Williamson) and their gospel community who help his return to life while music brings Nina and Jacob together as they try to make sense of his past and their possible future.Braxton's 9-year-old son Diezel plays her son in the movie as well, which will premiere on Saturday, February 9, at 8pm ET/PT. Lifetime has released the tele-pic's very first trailer, which is embedded below, along with a bunch of pics from the romantic drama: www.mylifetime.com/movies/twist-of-faith/video/twist-of-faith-preview

Braxton's autistic son stars with her in new movieBy NEKESA MUMBI MOODY | Associated Press – Wed, Feb 6, 2013 12:53 PM EST ....NEW YORK (AP) — Toni Braxton's autistic son makes his acting debut in her new Lifetime movie, "Twist of Faith," and could have had a bigger role, but the singer didn't want to put too much pressure on him. "He was supposed to play my son initially but by the time we worked out the shooting schedule, school had started," Braxton said of 9-year-old Diezel. (She also has an 11-year-old named Denim.) "Even though he's considered high functioning right now, he wasn't in the past, and that's why I thought him carrying the movie and trying to do the movie and tutoring would have been too much for him," the 45-year-old singer said. Braxton decided he should take a smaller role. "He was a little disappointed at first, but I think in the end, he's happy about the turnout," she said. Braxton understands the pressure. Although she has had small acting roles and stars in the WE reality TV series, "Braxton Family Values," which has its season premiere March 14, she is the main star of "Twist of Faith" — and that makes her nervous. "I never had to carry anything before. It's a lot of work," she said of her role in the film, which debuts Saturday on Lifetime (8 p.m. EST). "Singing is indigenous for me, but acting is not. I've had to work to prepare for it," said Braxton, adding later: "Be nice to me, guys! This is my first real acting debut! There are a few boo-boos. ... It's a lot more technical than I thought." Braxton is better known for her Grammy-winning, multiplatinum singing career, which has netted classics like "Un-break My Heart" and "Breathe Again." She said she's working on an album with longtime collaborator Babyface called "Love, Marriage, Divorce." She's also doing a few shows here and there, but she suffers from lupus, an autoimmune disease, which prevents her from doing more. Recently, she was hospitalized for blood clots, but Braxton considers herself one of the "lucky ones" and is grateful she can still have a career. "My doctors told me I would never be able to perform again," she said. "I'm very lucky that I'm still able to dabble in it a little bit."

I think she would be great on R&B Divas LA, if that spinoff materializes.
It's a shame she doesn't seem to want to do music anymore but I kind of understand.

It's weird that she says that about music because I thought her and Babyface were working on an album together.

If she is quitting music, she should at least try to go out with BANG instead of a fizzle. She's too goo of an artist to end it all on such low note.

I wonder if she's really falling out of love with music or falling out of love with the music industry because her albums have been underperforming. If she just went back to her roots, she'd be doing a lot better. I have NO clue what she expected to come from that dance song she released last year.

I wonder if she's really falling out of love with music or falling out of love with the music industry because her albums have been underperforming. If she just went back to her roots, she'd be doing a lot better. Toni was my #1 back in the 90's but I'm so uninterested in her music now. The past twelve years have been nothing but a string of singles that always manage to sound like whoever's album scraps. People are are quick to notice her mumblesque vocal delivery but perhaps that's just her boredom channeling itself through the music? It's frustrating because once every two years or so I come across a new song of hers that compels me to think YES! She's still capable of singing her heart out and making genuine, sophisticated R&B. None of these songs end up as singles though (Team "Sposed To Be" >>> "Please"). My two favorite songs of hers this past decade fell short of a tracklisting placement ("Melt" and "In The Morning"*). Even though I'm no longer invested in her career there's a small part of me that wonders what specific decisions could have been made differently. There's no reason why she'd not be having R. Kelly or Mary J. Blige levels of success today with a more astute strategy along the way. She remains a household name to many; just a nostalgic one rather than a current one. *I know Mary's version made an album of hers. Personally, I prefer Toni's version although I think either artist would have been wise to release it.

Well she was probably the most fucked recording artist in the 90's when it came to her contract.
I'd be jaded......shit.....
